From the 2000 Dot Com bubble only some tech companies survived from the thousands of the dot coms that failed to $0. The ones that survived are Google, Amazon and such due to their utility and use cases and finally their mainstream widespread adoption in the worldwide digital infrastructure

Now apply the same exact reasoning for the above altcoins for blockchains:

- Solana is a competitor to ethereum so competition is a risk.
- XRP say they will replace Swift Global banking
- BNB is tied to Binance so if anything happens to Binance then high risk.
- Tron is the eastern Chinese equivalent to the western Ethereum smart contracts correct? So political tension risks.
- Litecoin is seen as silver to Bitcoin gold if there's not enough bitcoins to go around.
- Dogecoin is a meme and I never see memes going out of fashion as long there is internet.
- Monero is privacy and the world will always have criminals and privacy respected people. Monero is the official currency on the dark web. Will the dark web still be around in 2040?
- Stellar is used to avoid expensive blockchain fees and has the fastest blockchain.
- Link claims to be the oracle of blockchains.

Any from above that I missed out on?

Layer 2's are high risk because they can be replaced by faster better Layer 2's or the main Layer 1 chain has upgraded making Layer 2's obsolete.

I have confidence in a lot of those altcoins but judging by what is backing them, I'm more confidence in BNB since it will be difficult for the biggest exchange in the world to collapse. Apart from that, XMR, LTC, XLM, ATOM, ADA and SOL are great altcoins that will likely not go anywhere by 2040. Some of them are in my priority list of altcoins to buy in addition to Bitcoin which occupies the bulk of my collection.

You're right that only a few of them will remain surviving. 14 years from now, we're sure that there will be a lot of them will die along the process. We'll even see some of them that haven't heard of before will not even survive. That's how the market works, many of these will naturally die and won't be remembered anymore. If there will be a lot of survivals, then that the market is maturing but on the opposite side, that also means that the market is maturing and investors are choosing the side of what to invest.

Can Ripple make Stellar obsolete not needed anymore if Ripple is widespread adopted? I ask because these 2 coins are identical right like bitcoin & bitcoin cash?

ADA is kinda meh and is competing with Ethereum and SOL and SOL is competing with Ethereum. There could be only 1 winner for the western world and for the eastern chinese world is Tron I guess because eastern asian government will not use European American western smart contracts.

You're right that only a few of them will remain surviving. 14 years from now, we're sure that there will be a lot of them will die along the process. We'll even see some of them that haven't heard of before will not even survive. That's how the market works, many of these will naturally die and won't be remembered anymore. If there will be a lot of survivals, then that the market is maturing but on the opposite side, that also means that the market is maturing and investors are choosing the side of what to invest.

Yes of course you always get new scam coins or new venture capitalist coins that are newly released around the bitcoin havening so by sheer coincidence it aligns with the crypto bull market. Lots of crypto retail traders got wiped out in this recently finished bull market because there was no altcoin season due to the FTX & Terra Luna scandals that happened in the previous bear market that is still fresh in everybody's minds today. These scandals sealed the fate of all altcoins meaning there will never be a alt season or bull market ever again for altcoins except for reputable established altcoins listed above.

14 years is enough time to completely change your list; 99% of these cryptocurrencies didn't exist 14 years ago.

Monero (XMR) is a strong contender for survival.
XRP and Litecoin are also possibilities.

Here you are making assumption about the future with a present mindset. I find this as arbitrary assumption somehow because you would never know what it will be the form of the market after 14 years, assuming that the altcoins in your favorite list are all backed by a strong project. It's hardly possible that most of them will still be there after a deceny and a half.

Personally I believe in fully decentralized projects like bitcoin and xmr. I would never consider the others as long standing projects unless they update their concept to more decentralization. Some of those untrusted projects are eth and all the tokens developped at top of ethereum.

The side to invest in, will only be for few years that investors would like to choose the altcoins to invest in, since altcoins are meant for short term, not for long term, and within that period, other potential coins would appear in the market to compete and replace the old coins that doesn't have strong marketing and strong community that are not in support of the coins progression

Don't be surprised that all of these coins are going to follow the market just the way it is going now until 2040, few of those projects are going to experience more success in their ecosystem, it will cause the value of the coins to pump more than the current price. The founder of XRP doesn't have the intention of stopping xrp from functioning, so it is the last coin you should expect to go down to zero, fellowed by BNB, Trx, I can not speak about LTC because its value keeps dying.

Among all the coins which you mentioned above, I can’t really tell you that any of those coins will survive the market till 2040. Altcoins are just so difficult to predict, a coin which you have confidence for might be the one that’s going to disappoint you, so I you are planning to make a long term investment, then just go for bitcoin, bitcoin have been in existence for years, and nothing has happened to bitcoin, and bitcoin is still going to continue to grow. Any altcoin can crash at any moment, so don’t be confident in any altcoin.

Also even if those coins listed by OP there are unpredicted situation that might happen. Interest of people shift and those top alts might collapse later on and the attention of people will go to other one. We have seen several top good alts before which handled by what we think strong companies collapsed then compromised lots of people.

So if they really want to deal with long term its really better for people to focus on Bitcoin. Aside that this is top one coin in the market, the potential is so high and demand will provably grow more on upcoming years.

There are some memecoins we are going to see around for decades and possibly remain as long as cryptocurrency still exist, however, we cannot still vouch for some how about dear existence because anything can happen at any time depending on those developers behind the projects, at least we should just make sure that we are investing what we can afford to lose, any of the above mentioned memecoins may decided to go bankrupt or cease to exist.

The same applies to many L2 layers, which no longer make much sense. It's worth noting that as soon as transaction fees on the Ethereum network normalized and became very low, user activity there increased significantly. In fact, the graph shows that since last year, DEX volume on some L2s has declined significantly, indicating that users have lost interest in them.

And the thing with them is that in 2021, specially ADA was like the next big thing for crypto as it is very active and investors make a ton of money out of it. But in this bull run, it's so quiet that it has missed it's projection.

From what I have seen in 2017 as well, there are a lot of good and promising projects but it died down in 2021. So that could be a repeat for most of the coins that has been mentioned by the OP. They will just come and go and then a new cycle begin with new projects and then in the next bull run, most of them are dead. Unless they reinvent themselves with unique use cases.

That's my list. I have eliminated the coins that have low revenue from their active blockchain. Low onchain revenue means they're unsustainable for long term and have only fewer users.

Logically, when a blockchain unable to get good onchain income means they have no resource to keep their infra for long term. That's my main reason why i elimiated them. But i think the rest are good consider many of them have utilities and they already widely adopted.

However, some coins such as litecoin or doge may be excepted caused by they may keep survive due to their historic value.

There's no guarantee that these coins  will survived till 2040 because no one knows if their future will be bright. Since Etherum is the mother of these altcoins, I think Etherum will still be in existence because people still have confidence in it and will continue to invest in it.

Monero will survive due to the maximum privacy that it provides for its users. These are the only two coins that might survive till 2040. If you're investing in any of these coins only do that with the 10% of your total bitcoin holdings. If you don't have bitcoin, you will be gambling investing in these altcoins.

Well 24 years is a very long time, and it will be very difficult to predict what will happen in the cryptocurrency world in the next 24 years, but I’m going to suggest that something closer to Bitcoin would have a chance of surviving for that long time, which is Etherum would have a higher chance of surviving for such a long time and still nothing is guaranteed in the Cryptocurrency market.

I will also consider Solana as something that would definitely surprise us, it also have a tendency of lasting longer than expected, because Solana seems to also be closer to Bitcoin and I have come to understand that Dogecoin also have a tendency of lasting longer than anticipated, most people will actually think that Dogecoin also have some closeness to Bitcoin, I just have to admit that all cryptocurrencies depends on Bitcoin to thrive and as long as Bitcoin is there, most of the cryptocurrency have a tendency of staying for that long time.

Many of them look quite good. BNB, SOL, ADA, LTC to me these are quite good, AVAX is not that bad neither. These are all projects that have a solid backing and they are all good to keep hold off for a while longer, I know it is not going to be easy to do this but it is going to be possible without a doubt.

We should consider how things could change if anything crashes or cracks, because while I do think they are going to do fine, that doesn't mean that nothing can go wrong. If anything goes wrong then we are going to see them fail, like some hacking or scam or anything wrong with the chain, those are all possible and things that has happened before. If nothing like that happens, then I think the ones I named will be doing fine.
