Which of these Altcoins will still be around in 2040?

There's a likely case that all of those altcoins  or perhaps, 90% or more will be around for the next 14 years. The reason why I said so is because if you look at cryptos like Polkadot, it was launched years ago and that shit doesn't do anything and has less than 100 active REAL users and yet, it's still at 2.7B FDV. The same goes for Litecoin and even Monero.

You're right that only a few of them will remain surviving. 14 years from now, we're sure that there will be a lot of them will die along the process. We'll even see some of them that haven't heard of before will not even survive. That's how the market works, many of these will naturally die and won't be remembered anymore. If there will be a lot of survivals, then that the market is maturing but on the opposite side, that also means that the market is maturing and investors are choosing the side of what to invest.

Yes of course you always get new scam coins or new venture capitalist coins that are newly released around the bitcoin havening so by sheer coincidence it aligns with the crypto bull market. Lots of crypto retail traders got wiped out in this recently finished bull market because there was no altcoin season due to the FTX & Terra Luna scandals that happened in the previous bear market that is still fresh in everybody's minds today. These scandals sealed the fate of all altcoins meaning there will never be a alt season or bull market ever again for altcoins except for reputable established altcoins listed above.

These developers might be the same from the older projects when the halving is coming. They know the right time to make one so that it will also catch up with the cycle. And every debacle that comes is a sign of the bear market, they would avoid that moment if they're trying to launch some new projects.

The side to invest in, will only be for few years that investors would like to choose the altcoins to invest in, since altcoins are meant for short term, not for long term, and within that period, other potential coins would appear in the market to compete and replace the old coins that doesn't have strong marketing and strong community that are not in support of the coins progression

Well, there are some altcoins that are good for long term. I myself positioned ETH for long term and I'm still holding it. I've sold some too early and also did some for good sums of profit. But the most of them, it's best to have it studied before entrusting your money into them, new or old.

That's still a long way off, but it's interesting to predict. I'll write down my thoughts here, and I believe the coin will still be around in 2040.

1. BNB. Why BNB? Because its strength comes from its large exchange, Binance, as its benchmark. They also have a strong ecosystem and community. They are still very likely to survive for the next 15 years. The risk here lies with Binance itself. If the same thing happens as FTX, it will inevitably end in bankruptcy. As long as Binance exists, BNB will remain.

2. XRP. Why XRP? Because we need to look at its background. XRP is very strong, especially since Ripple has as many partners as banks worldwide. They are fundamentally strong. If their mission to replace SWIFT is achieved, this would be even better. However, I'm still skeptical about it. XRP is one of the few remaining cryptocurrencies in the market, alongside ETH and BTC.

Why I didn't choose ETH and SOL, it's because of the scalability and technology issues that are still possible to be caught up by competitors who could come better, last year we saw Solana dying and also the gas fee that became expensive when their network had many users, I felt it during the $Trump token hype, which made me stop from making transactions at that time, as well as ETH.

Yeah that thing polkadot literally only got $15 daily blockchain fees. if not for their preminted token and the fact that the blockchain stay valued highly for some reason. This blockchain would've shutdown long ago.
Though some of these blockchain are spending lavishly for marketing purpose such as Polkadot, I doubt they'd last 14 years even with such huge valuation.

In fact, there's no guarantee that all altcoins will survive until 2040 except for Bitcoin which I'm confident in. However, if we look at the technology offered by each altcoin, we can speculate which ones will survive until 2040. This is especially true since the crypto market is influenced by various factors such as regulation, technology adoption, innovation and global economic conditions.

Many altcoins that still exist today could disappear due to changing trends or project failure. However, based on the technology offered by some altcoins with strong foundations, such as large ecosystems, supported by regulations and real utility these altcoins have a higher chance of surviving until 2040. I share your opinion, among the altcoins that can survive for the next 14 years are ETH the parent of many altcoins, BNB which has the largest exchange and SOL which offers fast transactions and low fees.

Among all the coins which you mentioned above, I can’t really tell you that any of those coins will survive the market till 2040. Altcoins are just so difficult to predict, a coin which you have confidence for might be the one that’s going to disappoint you, so I you are planning to make a long term investment, then just go for bitcoin, bitcoin have been in existence for years, and nothing has happened to bitcoin, and bitcoin is still going to continue to grow. Any altcoin can crash at any moment, so don’t be confident in any altcoin.

Indeed, altcoins are not guaranteed long-term at least until 2040 anything can happen where they collapse and are no longer valuable --- because we will not know in the future what events occur that destroy some altcoins.

Bitcoin is indeed one of them as an ideal storage compared to altcoins, I don't mind if holding altcoins with a term of 2-3 years such as ETH, SOL and BNB is still very possible then it is too long for that because it is high risk, so avoid holding more than 10 years.

All of those coins will still be around in 14 years from now but not all will still dominate the market, some of them will loss volatility and volume and there will be less traders and also may get delisted from some popular centralized exchange. Those that won't fade away but remain relevant in the industry as long as the industry last are SOL, BNB, MATIC, XMR.

These ones may not stay relevant but will still be available in the ecosystem, those are LINK, STELLAR, POKALDOT. These may lose value and volume a lot along the line.

Do you think 2040 is far from now and we don't know what the plan of the government will be by then. 2040 is 14 years from now and we don't know if the world will be in existence by then due to what's happening and how different countries are developing nuclear weapons as defense methodology to prevent unexpected attacks or sanctions from neighboring countries. If the world will be in existence by then and the government policies does not affect crypto projects, so many of these altcoins will be available till then.

Considering how cryptocurrency market works, from now 2026 to 2040 is just 14 between and that is not a big time for a coin to exist in the market, from what have being going on with most coin, their may lose their value in a way, but to say that their will not be around by that time may not be true, so let say 90%-100% of the above listed coins will be around by 2040, but their value is what we can't tell, while some will increase in value some others price will dropped without recovering.

I have confidence in a lot of those altcoins but judging by what is backing them, I'm more confidence in BNB since it will be difficult for the biggest exchange in the world to collapse. Apart from that, XMR, LTC, XLM, ATOM, ADA and SOL are great altcoins that will likely not go anywhere by 2040. Some of them are in my priority list of altcoins to buy in addition to Bitcoin which occupies the bulk of my collection.

Good of you, being able to actually narrow it down to this few numbers of altcoins is best for you. For the top picks you’ve selected, I also feel they’re in the category of coins that will do well in the future and have a chance to stay in the long term in the market even after facing a lot of external pressure and competition in the market for more than a decade from now. 2040 is actually a long term from now, but coins that will have potential to be alive till then can’t be hard to spot out and for your picks, I think you’ve actually selected the right ones with the best of potentials to remain till then.

Why the choice of 2040? That's 14 years, and every year, so many things are happening in the industry, and coins and tokens are continuously losing value and community support, while new coins and tokens are emerging to create hype and innovation.
Honestly, it's hard to predict given the length of time. What I'm sure of is that Bitcoin and Ethereum will retain their status as innovation leaders. All the other coins and tokens will struggle to last.

I don't see Ethereum (ETH) above. And I think Hyperliquid (HYPE) deserves to be among the top altcoins in your list. These 2 coins possibly can survive a long time in the future.

Honestly, it is a bit difficult to predict which coins to survive in the next 14 years. Many things can change in the very long time period, even the top 5 coins can totally change. However, I assume the altcoins with strong fundamental and big communities to have a bigger chance to survive. ETH, BNB, TRX, MATIC, and XRP seem to survive until 2040 even if I don't know whether they may drop their current ranks in CMC.

Layer 2's are high risk because they can be replaced by faster better Layer 2's or the main Layer 1 chain has upgraded making Layer 2's obsolete.

Sure, this will be more difficult to predict. It can disappear in few years if they have bad news.
