KNOTCOIN
World's First Quantum Secure PoW Blockchain with Built-in Referral System

Genesis Block: February 25, 2026
Status: Live Mainnet
Version: v1.0.0

What is Knotcoin?

The first proof-of-work blockchain with referrals built into the protocol. Bitcoin proved decentralized money works, but it left two problems unsolved: unfair distribution and no mechanism for organic growth. Early miners got millions while late miners get crumbs. Growth depends on external marketing and centralized promotion. Knotcoin fixes both. Fair distribution through gradual emission. Organic growth through protocol-level referrals. No pre-mine. No ICO. No foundation. Just immutable rules and a network that grows with conviction. let's Bring a change Together.

Core Innovation:
• When someone you referred mines a block, you get 5% bonus (protocol-minted)
• Single-hop only (no pyramid schemes)
• Creates network effect without centralized marketing
• Referral code includes node address (bootstraps peer discovery)

Why This Matters:
• Fair distribution (no pre-mine, no ICO, no founder allocation)
• Gradual emission (0.1 → 1.0 KOT over 6 months)
• Immutable rules (core consensus locked forever)
• Network grows itself (no foundation, no company)

Key Features

No Pre-mine - I mined block zero under the same rules as you
Fair Emission - Starts at 0.1 KOT, gradually increases to 1.0
Protocol Referrals - 5% bonus for network growth (single-hop only)
Immutable Rules - Core consensus cannot be changed
Memory-Hard Mining - PONC algorithm (CPUs competitive)
Quantum-Resistant - Dilithium3 signatures (NIST standard)
No Foundation - Code runs itself, no centralized control

PONC Consensus

Proof of Network Confidence - Memory-hard proof-of-work algorithm.

How it works:
• 2 MB scratchpad (65,536 chunks)
• 512 rounds of SHA3-256 per nonce
• Memory-bound (not compute-bound)

Why this matters:
• CPUs: ~1-5 H/s
• GPUs: ~50-150 H/s (only 30-50x faster)
• ASICs: Would cost more to build than they'd earn

Your laptop can compete. No million-dollar mining farms needed.

Result: Decentralized mining + fair distribution.

Emission Schedule

Phase 1 (Months 0-6):
Reward: 0.1 → 1.0 KOT (gradual increase)
Total: ~144,540 KOT

Phase 2 (Months 6-12):
Reward: 1.0 KOT (constant)
Total: 262,800 KOT

Phase 3 (Year 2+):
Reward: Logarithmic decay
Max Supply: ~13M KOT (asymptotic)

Current Reward: 0.10000342 KOT per block

Immutable Rules

Cannot Be Changed:
• Emission schedule
• Referral structure (5%, single-hop)
• Block time (60 seconds)
• PONC algorithm
• No pre-mine rule

Can Be Fixed:
• Minor bugs (through governance)
• Block size (50-500 KB range)
• Operational parameters

The network can handle this. Core rules are locked. No centralized greed can corrupt the distribution.

Why Knotcoin?

Every cryptocurrency claims to be "fair." Most lie.

Bitcoin: First 4 years minted 50% of supply. Early miners got rich.
Ethereum: Pre-mine gave founders millions. Then changed to PoS.
Most altcoins: ICOs, pre-mines, founder allocations.

Knotcoin is different:
• No pre-mine (I mined block zero like everyone else)
• No ICO (no tokens sold)
• No foundation (no company controls it)
• Immutable emission (supply schedule locked forever)
• Network effect (referrals create organic growth)

Fair distribution. Immutable rules. No centralized greed.

The network runs itself. With me or without me. ( Contribution Will Be Appreciated During Early Days )

Built to outlast its creator.

"Network is live, but we need seed nodes to bootstrap peer discovery.

Looking for volunteers to run public seed nodes. Requirements:
- Static IP or domain
- Port 9000 open
- 24/7 uptime preferred

If you can help, reply with your node address (IP:9000 or domain:9000).
I'll add the first 3-5 seed nodes to the code and push an update.

This keeps the network decentralized from day one. No single point of failure."

will i be able to run as a "seed node" with my full node wallet daemon software? im not as technical but know a few things of the basics as a full node miner, i know that you need the ip plus the port, i understand that part

*update:

oh i just read somewhere, it says someone needs a static ip and a domain name, so basically i can't act as a seed node i suppose

*update:
i can't wait to get started and run my full node mining (:

@Sergick2023 - Good catch on trying to mine! However, there's a bootstrap issue right now.

The network is live, but v1.0.0 doesn't have hardcoded seed nodes yet. This means:
- Your node can't connect to other nodes
- You can't sync the blockchain
- Mining won't work until you're synced

I am working on v1.01 with seed nodes included. In the meantime:

Option 1: Wait for v1.01 (coming soon with seed nodes)
Option 2: If you have a static IP and can run 24/7, volunteer as a seed node (see my post above)

Sorry for the inconvenience - this is the chicken-and-egg problem of launching a new network. Once we have 2-3 seed nodes, everyone will be able to connect and mine.I just want this project to be owned by the people.

I'll post an update when v1.01 is ready!

UPDATE: v1.0.1 Explorer Fix Applied

The web explorer in the initial v1.0.1 release wasn't connecting properly. This has been fixed and the release has been updated.

If you downloaded v1.0.1 before Feb 26, 2026 8:00 PM UTC, please re-download:
https://github.com/Ponknot/Knotcoin/releases/tag/v1.0.1

What changed:
• Fixed web explorer showing "OFFLINE"
• Explorer now uses Node.js server (see setup guide for instructions)
• Node binary unchanged - if your node is running, no need to restart

Important: The command-line tools (knotcoind, knotcoin-cli) were never affected and work perfectly. This fix only applies to the web UI.

To use the explorer:
Code:
cd explorer/
node server.js
# Open http://localhost:8080/

New checksums are included in the release. The network is live and running smoothly!

Good catch! You need to install Node.js first. Here's how:

For Windows:
1. Download Node.js from: https://nodejs.org/
2. Get the LTS version (Long Term Support)
3. Run the installer and follow the prompts
4. Restart your command prompt (or restart computer if you prefer)
5. Test it works:
Code:
node --version

Then navigate to your explorer folder and run:
Code:
cd C:\Users\...\windows-x86_64\explorer
node server.js

Important: The web explorer is optional - it's just a UI. Your node works perfectly without it!

You can use the command-line tools right now:
Code:
knotcoind.exe

This starts your node and you can mine/transact using
Code:
knotcoin-cli.exe
commands. The explorer is just for viewing the blockchain in a browser.

Let me know if you hit any issues after installing Node.js!

The "Unauthorized" error means your node is running but the CLI can't find the authentication token.

Quick fix:

Instead of using
Code:
knotcoin-cli
, use curl with the auth token:

Windows:
Code:
type %USERPROFILE%\.knotcoin\mainnet\.cookie

Copy that token, then use:
Code:
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN_HERE" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d "{\"method\":\"getblockcount\"}" http://127.0.0.1:9001

sorry for the inconvenience , I will try to simplify the mining process in next release. Currently the process is a bit complex but I promise that everything will be solved . Don't mine right now & just wait for my green signal to start mining again . Still only genesis block is mined so no need to worry at all since there's long way to go ...

http://localhost:8080/ shows as online, but it seems the node hasn't synced and the blocks cannot update. I'm puzzled—if the node isn't actually online, why does http://localhost:8080/ show as online, yet the blocks still can't sync?

185.153.45.177

This is actually my IP address, but it's not connected to the network. 0 blocks, 0 connections.
I tried bridging it to the Tor network, but it's not working yet.
