Scammers won't come to you if you don't have something they want to snatch away from you. Upon launching my loan business on this forum, I got lots of telegram messages from scammers. Their demands were always thesame; they all want a private deal without making it public on the forum. That was an obvious red flag. If they were genuine, making their offers or interests public wouldn't have been a big deal to them.

Scam is not new, it has always existed. Just that now, it is getting more sophisticated. If you are in this forum, the best thing you can do for yourself is to avoid strangers who come to your dm. You can't trust anyone here just like that. If you get scammed, you do not have anyone's details to trace them and recover your money, that is why you must not let your guards down; play smart always.

There are truly good opportunities here too and you wouldn't want to miss them simply because you are being careful. You can grab those opportunities while also being smart, and one smart way to protect yourself is by avoiding all off-forum deals. You met them here in this forum, the deal should be sealed here in the forum too and in the public. Scammers will run away once they hear you mention making the deal public. Just stay safe out there.

This thread isnt for newbies only but for everyone. There is no such investment with 100% return on a single day or so. I mean if there a such a good investment without risk everyone would be rich and the economy wheel didnt turn.

Most of this old members that are messaging newbies in other to scam them has already been given negative feedback by DT members in this forum, so when you see a PM from old forum members, what you should do is to check their feedback and from there feedback you will know the kind of person they are.
But I will advise, regardless of their feedback tell them to make it public or forget about it.

And for the DT members if you are giving trust to someone, make sure the member is trustworthy because if they are involved in scamming newbies here, and the newbie says he believed the member was trustworthy because of the trust you gave the member, you too will be held accountable to some extent.

This is new, most of the PMs I got from strangers on here are always from new accounts,  no old members have ever sent me a scam message or anything that looks suspicious, it's always those new accounts. Can you do me favour OP and drop a link to where moderators bursted such people? Who would risk their accounts for such nonsense when they knew that they can easily be reported? It's kinda hard to believe, old members can have evil plan too but they would rather create a new forum account to do that evil shit, not the other way around, also people needs to be suspicious of every PM senders, 99% of the time they don't want the best for you, they are here to steal from you, do not be in rush when engaging with PMs.

I mean it's easy to spot a scammer if you know what you are doing, If someone is messaging you to a investment it might already be a red flag since they are the one that is encouraging you to invest, It might be legit but it wasn't really going to be a thing here in the forum, most of the time you should be the one that is going to decide on a investment, not someone that is encouraging you or DM you, probably a investment thread here they you are interested then you PM him, that how it should be.

The trust feedback is a good basis here in the forum, and you could also see what is the feedback on transactions that happened etc. I also rely on the green trust as well most of the time. The trust was given because they have had great transactions or interactions, etc. Still, even though they have a great one doesn't mean it is going to happen to you as well. Giving someone trust, we could say that just giving them good feedbackk it doesnt mean you should invest in them or put everything on them. Also, there are some cases of hacking in the forum, or account selling, so there are always some chances that the trust is not going to be accurate anymore, so the best way was just to spot the red flags, I mean a veteran forum member is not going to ask for a investment in the first place so it's easy to spot that something is wrong.

When making a post like this next time please give a reference link. Let people read the original story to have a full background knowledge of what happened, it can help to judge better. There are many cases of account changing hand in the forum either through hacking, stolen or bought and in any circumstances among these, the trust feedback doesn't matter because the account is not being controlled by the original owner.

Moreover, not every accounts have feedback on their profile, unless the issue is made public for people to know and leave appropriate feedback, some scams might be happening low key on the background without public notice. Some victims who are mostly newbies have limited knowledge on the forum and might not know how to raise alarm and call public attention. I will always advise people to involve a trusted third party if the deal is a financial one.

Unfortunately, the trust system is more of drama and agenda now than it's actual purpose of helping trade.

Regardless of the feedback, members have earned all the time they have spent in this forum. Anybody can change at any time, or accounts that have good feedback can be hacked or handled by a stranger who will want to take advantage of other members due to the good remarks the real owner of the account has gained.

It is important that whatever valuable deal you want to make with anyone, it is better to make it public and involve other members of the forum to witness it.

Its not surprising for us to receive lots of scam message everyday, especially if we join on big telegram groups.

There are lots of criminals in that app waiting for victims to grab those offerings they present to those people. Its good for new entrants on crypto investment to know that anyone sending investment offer to them in telegram or any other groups is a scam.

Even here although I don't receive the same offerings, but for other in case they receive better ignore it so they can escape getting any problems related to scamming or financial losses.

It's true but if you and the others know how to customize Telegram account settings, less annoying scammers can expose you. This feature used to be available for all accounts but Telegram changed their policy and now only Premium accounts can do that.

Alternatively, they allow settings to automatically sort DMs from strangers to Archive.

Telegram also has an option to get rid of unwanted contacts and newsletters using archiving. You can make sure that messages from unknown users are automatically archived. You won't even notice the moment you receive a message from a stranger. If you wish, you can manually check who wrote to you later.

To activate this feature, do the following:

▪️scroll down to the inscription "New chats from unknown users";

▪️turn on the "Archive and turn off notifications" feature .

Now messages from strangers will be received silently, archived immediately, and won't disturb you.

I will always advise newbies to be very careful in this forum because when it concerns cryptocurrency, there’s always a way to scam people and in this forum cryptocurrency is our major topic and discussion, so any day you want to do with someone make it public so people we know who you are dealing with and also advise you, sometime ago an old member messaged me and told me about a new crypto coin that I should invest in it heavily I refused and I told him to bring it out in public so other people can also invest when I told him that he said there’s no need bringing out in public and that was how I knew it was a scam. I checked his account and someone has already tagged him for scam, so checking feedback is good.

I don’t think DT members should be held accountable just because someone they trusted ended up scamming someone, because people change, he may be good before, but later on changed to a bad person.

I agree with you that they won't mind if you're newbie or veteran, but what surprises me about this topic is old members addressing newbies, because the protection by default in the forum is the contrary: you won't be able to read the content of the PMs sent to you by newbies, and you'll see a disclaimer in red when you access them inside the forum. But in the case of old members, all you have is trust, if you're lucky and the behaviour of the scammer has been exposed before trying to scam you.

Remember that nobody gives Bitcoins in exchange of satoshis, and if something sounds too good to be true, most probably it's not true.

As long every Bitcointalk account is susceptible to hack or infiltration, we should be careful when such offer comes through PM. Such helpful offers don't come out of the blue, from a newbie or veteran, there needs to be sort of relationship, when the PM comes unsolicited, that's a scam attempt.

Always check an account trust ratings before indulging, PM received from TG should be verified from Bitcointalk.

Most of these old forum members account that are being used to send PM to newbies are accounts that have no relevant in the forum again; most of these old accounts have changed hands through hacking or the accounts has been sold to new users who might have bought it for the purpose of scam and not to use it for good because they will definitely be noticed along the way because anyone that wants to learn or have something serious about this forum will not go and buy account.
Therefore, it is good to check the trust feedback of whoever sent you a personal message in the forum so that you can verify the information and maybe bring it to the forum in case of any further action about the account.

If you see trust in the accounts that might be involved in such acts, then it is definitely a hacked account because anyone that have works hard to earn reputation cannot just misuse it because they knew the important of this forum.

Even if DT trusted a user, and the user decides to go astray, they can de trust them easily because it is not something permanent.

What if the reputed member's account was compromised for the illicit act? We have seen situations like that, the member's account will later change hands and be used to do one or two things to scam people. It is newbies that should be careful, although most that post on this forum are given neutral tag. Someone you do not know just messaged you about investment, that is absolutely a scam and the newbie supposed to know that. Such offers are always scam even beyond this forum.

Well, I do believe that there are still people who buy and sell accounts because I did receive a PM on telegram if I am selling an account and only accept hero and above rank. If it's about hacked accounts then the owner would be creating an alt account for recovery purpose so the hacked account may be used to scam someone unless the account is reported hacked so that it can stop someone from getting scammed.

Regardless of the feedback, members have earned all the time they have spent in this forum. Anybody can change at any time, or accounts that have good feedback can be hacked or handled by a stranger who will want to take advantage of other members due to the good remarks the real owner of the account has gained.

True but it seems like you have forgotten that some hacked accounts are from inactive users and also before some of those who are active might speak up the deed would have already been done, we have seen that especially in the lending board.

Some them were not even aware they asked for loan until they are being tagged or mentioned and this is often from those who account were having another user aside them. Recall this was the reason signing a message with a known wallet address is required before any one will be considered for a loan.

Accountable about what exactly? Any member whether in DT list or not can give a positive rating based on his experience with the user. It would never be a garantee for anything especially if deals are made in private. A DT rating is a sign of good reputation but this doesn't ignore the importance of dealing with caution if the member didn't made the deal public.
If a trusted forum member contacts you in private to make a trade deal, make sure he is the real owner of the account because the account might be hacked or changed hands. Check his post history and ask him to make the deal public or to use an escrow intermediary.

And I believe some of the scammers are already aware of the warning declaration that goes with their PM when they use a newbie account to send PM, and they make their way to either hack an old member account or buy such an account just for such purpose, as I believe an active member with a reputation can't attempt such at least such is rare, such account could be using their old positive feedback to use a lure people into falling victim, as for telegram DM with such offer it's on an alarming stage.
