Is weekend trading good?

Traditional market will close for 2 hours daily while it will not be opened throughout the weekend. Is it not a good thing?

The reason I asked is because some people are day traders but they supposed to have time to rest. What if they are becoming addicted to trading, as the market is not closing, it may significantly have bad effect on their health.

But this can not change anything, the best is that we should avoid trading addition. We should not open position or trade in the night. But I think the traditional way is better as people will not be able to trade during weekends when people supposed to be having fun.

I am not referring to spot market or convert because that should be opened 24/7 bit I am talking about the derivative trading where most traders are concentrating on.

Definitely get your point, but my question is the traditional market that we have today which has some closing period of time like Forex market aren’t we having lots of people still been addicted with such trading yet again. I think the obsession is actually about them making lots of money so even if the market shuts down for a while most will still not rest but will be looking at where to trade and could even be turning to spots which is left.

My objection to the market having closure times like in the night or weekends is because there are still 9 to 5 workers who are traders and this two periods are the best times for them to actually trade and we cannot regard them as addicted traders. So if there is closure we are actually chasing them away from trading or making it uncomfortable for them

I think this depends. I could trade 2 or 3 times a week and so to trade on the weekend wouldn't be strenuous to me. For one who is scalp trading, it could be something different.
We have people who work on weekends as well, especially business people, so I think it all comes to personal choice and strategy.

Traditional markets have no choice. Probably because most traditional financial institutions like banks also close on weekend.

Trading should go with schedule inorder to track ones habits and progress, I know that some people tend to love weekend trading because it gives them the opportunity to rethink, restrategize, and make good decisions in regards to the trading, some say they get a different mindsets whenever they trade during weekends  either ways a trader goes with what works best.

Do you means that there are workers who does not have time to trade when they are at work but trading during weekends? That can be true but I have seen workers that do not like crypto trading but trading forex and also using forex brokers to trade assets like gold. I do not know how they are doing it but they are working and still trading using forex brokers. I know three of them. I think maybe it is because people can now trade on their phones, unlike before which is trading only on computer.

Shouldn't that come down to self control? I don't think a market should be limited just because some people have no self control and become addicted.
The trad-fi sector is trying to run their market 24/7 and on the process to do that. Crypto is already good with 24/7 trading and if you are addicted, try to seek help instead.

Yes traders should have time for relaxation out of the phones or computer system especially with markets that are opened for 24 hours. And the best way to identify the rest period is sometimes if you look at the set up of your strategy, you would be able to ascertain a period of time that the market is quiet which means that many traders have gone out of the market and to generate volume and volatility will not be easy, at such time it is better to stay out. This can be anytime of the day, morning, afternoon or night time. Also, you can know the time you are suppose to take some rest through the times you usually record more loses and you avoid such times, it could also be during the morning hours, afternoon or night hours. Basically, it is good for traders to have rest at intervals, it will make them not force the market and also give you better analysis of the market because you have relaxed your nalves and mind.

Those are the best time people get to trade and be more active on their charts. This is common for those that take trading as side hustle and not a full time job. When a 9-5 worker is busy throughout the week, they may get time to analyze the market on their little free time but won’t get to execute trades because most trades require you to be active on the chart as they’re playing out. So I think weekends market that are closed will affect such category of people as that’s the best time they have to be active on the market. Being addicted to trading is another whole lot of thing which is different from this.

Both the forex market and derivatives needs the same type of knowledge to execute trades, so it is likely that if you’re a trader that only gets to trade during weekends, then switching to other trading options is better for you. Like the indices market, they’re open 24/7, so that’d be a great choice for someone who is on 9-5 work. Trading time doesn’t matter but what matters is your conveniences to be able to trade the market and get to win trades.

There is a breathing space for traders on the weekends, this is why some people avoid trading on weekends starting on friday because of how unpredictable the market can turn out to be. I do not think the break on the weekends is sufficient to stop someone from being addicted for the reasons you have already raised, but the break on the weekend can help your health because on that weekend you do not look at the market with a racing heart, you are not under pressure because the market is not live. That little break to relax contributes to health.

Does derivative trading of cryptocurrency even have closing hours or days?  I don't think it does, it's just forex and stocks brokers that close during weekends which is really good, it creates time for rest, if the trader have been trading from Monday till Friday, they should take weekend rest and continue the following week. Since crypto derivative don't have it, most people are trading every day of the week and some might not want their trade to extend until night hours but because of how the market moves slowly sometimes, a trader can be in lose until later in the night before the market can start going in the trader's expected direction. If it's possible to also close trading at night and resume in the morning, it will be good.

No I don’t think they don’t have time to trade during the weekdays but it will be limited time and just like you have rightly some week days workers trade on workings days too but have we thought about the fact that they do this because there is no weekend for them and this working days trading might be a little bit exhausting for them?

If they have weekends to trade like cryptocurrency I think most people will actually be happy to trade then because it’s more relaxing depending on the nature of the work they do m working days mostly 9-5 workers.

The market is actually unpredictable every day of the week, I can even tell you that it’s during weekends that we have less volatile market with Monday specifically the most volatile but this is not utterly proven because bitcoin market or general cryptocurrency market is volatile any day depending on the situation of the market condition.

Whoever that can't control himself should learn the hard way of stopping oneself into control, tradeFi isn't common yet since it's new, and so many traders aren't comfortable trading with it. The best way to even handle tradeFi is restricting it's access on weekends, that's preferably good.

I don't think it's because of addiction. We see addicted traders even after the weekend is closed, the reason may be that it's not regulated. There are still some markets that are available for trading on the weekend where you can trade 24/7. OTC and crypto markets are available for trading 24/7. If one of the markets is closed on the weekend, I think you should try changing markets and trading in a different market if you really want to trade on the weekend.

I actually agree with your idea of giving the market a break so people aren't hyper focused on trading, but have time to cool their mind off.
Currently everybody is setting up all those bots, ultra low latency HFT tools, the best quants ever to find edge but the market has been full of grind 24/7 i'm sure majority of those traders are reaching burnout.

Would be great to see people having some break, maybe it will bring more productivity in the market than 24/7 short and long speculation in the derivative market.

We can't just directly controls the way everyone should be trading for real life as we know there are people who are definitely a trading addiction while there are people who are not also addicted, and I can also assumed to be as how people easily gets addicted with gambling, so it could be with trading. Of course the market has a closing and opening time but what matters is how they handle their trade and what they should be aiming at is what really factor them.

Sincerely, whenever I hear or read about trading, I don't even consider those two as trading. I class them as mere "buying and selling". The real trading are Futures/Fx/Index in my books.

Talking about weekend trading, I don't so much fancy it and that's because the market usually goes a bit quiet during weekends. Traders have life outside charts too and some of them like to take the weekend off to be with families or friends. Except there's strong fundamentals that's clear on weekends, I like to play safe by staying out.
