Omo but OP no reason people wey dey talk about holding for long-term all d time. Most of them no even get any fraction of bitcoin for their wallet.
For me eh, my bitcoin na for one simple resason which is for long term profit and my maximum for 7 years, e get weting i wan use that money do when dat time come.

Some people dey keep am for retirement while some one just feel amount to get bitcoin for wallet. Every investor wey get sense know why they still hold on to their bitcoin, once e reach the amount wey dem they find they go just commot am use run weting dey wan do.

The thing be say, plenty people get different reason why dem dey invest in Bitcoin, some na to pass am to their children, make their children come see watin dey keep for them as parents, so that dem no go too suffer for the world. Others fit dey invest because dem believe say, for future, Bitcoin go gain better value wey even pass wetin e be now. But personally oh, me I dey invest am for myself, so that as the thing the built more value, I go dey expand my investment too, the money na still my own.

I never thought about spending the whole of my Bitcoin rather I'm planning on selling little by little that is after I must have reach my investment goal or the status of overaccumulation, I can decide to sell whenever the price double after that I will allow it to compound upon itself before selling again rather than selling everything at once because considering the years I spent in accumulating Bitcoin I wouldn't want to start all over again because the journey is too far.

My big dream na to build massive generational wealth ontop Bitcoin, like getting plenty wey be say I go chop some when I no go dey work again then cary the one wey remain take give my children. Everyone has their own reasons for investing into Bitcoin, I can chose to sell all my Bitcoin (which is not a smart move to make) and I can chose to sell little after holding for a long term and also made a reasonable amount of profits from my long term investment. And can still decide to pass it to my children if I am very old and can't use it. Before I can give my bitcoin to my children, I must teach them what bitcoin is about so they don't get scammed. It is far better for me to teach them about Bitcoin before handing my crypto assets to them so that they don't go outside to learn about it. I will teach them to how to monitor Bitcoin transactions through blockchain and I will also teach them how to secure their seed phrase.

The question you need ask yourself na, e even de possible say you fit hold your bitcoin for ever make you no spend am at all? how realistic that one even be? no matter how you take reason am, there will always come a point in time that you sell your holding and use the proceed for something that is of importance to you. bitcoin good but e no de like house when be say you fit de buy am reason say you no go sell am again say you go leave am as inheritance for your children. if you leave bitcoin as inheritance for your children when no believe in bitcoin as much as you do, it will just be a matter of time before they sell it off because they never believed in it in the first place. just like you had an entry plan into bitcoin, you should have an exit plan as well.

lol, the goal of holding bitcoin no be to hold bitcoin till you die nah, any bitcoin you Dey accumulate now or today na for your enjoyment tomorrow and maybe to leave am as generational wealth when you kpoof throway. I personally think that the end goal of Bitcoin is not a single destination. I see Bitcoin as a long-term asset protection. Bitcoin can also be called a tool for future financial freedom. In an economy like ours, where the purchasing power of currency decreases year by year, Bitcoin is an option for storing value in the long term. Although there is volatility in the short term. But we are investing in Bitcoin, it means that we must have a future plan. So it would not be right to say that we will just hold it for the rest of our lives until we die. Again, selling everything can also be risky. Therefore, I consider Bitcoin more realistic as a balance method between extreme decisions.
 Personally, I think it is better to plan step by step rather than making emotional decisions. Considering my age, my current age and financial position, it is not unreasonable for me to hold Bitcoin for at least the next 10/12 years. However, I think we all have specific financial goals. After holding it for the long term to achieve that goal, it would not be bad to sell part of it. And the rest can be held for a longer period so that the next generation can benefit.

I think wealth is not just about hoarding. Again, it is not wise to spend it all at once. If you can live well in the future from Bitcoin, then the wise thing is to use it according to the time, needs and market conditions. Not to sell it all at once.

Personal i be person wey dy hold my Bitcoin with a target, believing say I go later sell am in a huge profit and use an achieve one thing wey look impossible before because of lack of funds, and those things wey fit make me sell my bitcoin holdings na to build a home personally for myself or to start up a business or a company wey me and my immediate family fit do and escape poverty along the line, no be just anything go make me sell my holdings .
Right now I dy in my early thirties, so I believe say I still get enough time to make my plan come to reality, but holding Bitcoin inside old age na something I no go do for so many reasons best known to me, but my end target is to retire before my 50th birthday.

In my opinion I don't need no advice on how I want to spend my bitcoin holdings, moreover one of the major reason am investing in bitcoin is for the future purpose and am aiming for a very long time duration of about 5 to 10 years time if not more.

This one na personal matter whether person wants hold till dey die or till old age. There are people that don't want to stay without having bitcoin in there portfolio. The ongoing holdings and taking profits after reaching over accumulation stage remains the best thing to do. It is best at the stage of over accumulation to develop a method of taking out profit from our bitcoin investment. It won't be wise for anyone to sell out all there bitcoin and become a no coiner.

This thread is a very logical one which should question those who says those selling now and then are making wrong decisions without even getting to figure out what actually prompts them to sell their bitcoins.
To get it right first bitcoin is an asset that we're investing to make profits either in the short or long term with a prior to solve our financial needs in the future.
Thereafter I'll blame those who sells and regrets later out of Fomo because it's an act of trader and not investors, they lack self control of their emotions over the volatility.
But as for those who sells and feel satisfied with the profits made are okay by me because they're accountable to their decisiveness.
On the contrary, a consistent investor who based on taking profits and reinvesting must surely have a portion of their portfolios left to be inherited by family or love ones because death is unpredictable. Unless we entirely don't have a portfolio anymore at an early time.

Well this matter dey very simple, say we dey invest on Bitcoin dey emphasis say make we hold Bitcoin for long before we sell no mean say we go hold for dear Life or we go die holding Bitcoin. Bitcoin wey we dey invest na just to secure wealth for retirement porpose or investment to spend during old age. You know say old age na wetting everyman go expirience, and we no go like to spend everything when we dey young. We just dey invest those money sothat we go use am guard ourselves for future.
