Elon Musk came with this crazy idea to launch xAI's data centers in space. Allegedly, it will have "unlimited solar power" and greater cooling for true unstoppability. Economically-speaking, this is would be ideal to help reduce energy costs. After all, AI is so expensive to run on Earth. Not to mention, the negative environmental effects of doing so. "Skynet", anyone?
While running AI in space has many benefits, doing such a project of a large scale would require a hefty initial investment. Elon is the richest person in the world, so he can make it happen.
What do you think? Will governments approve this (especially the US)? How would such a project benefit the government? Will we able to experience long-term benefits in the economy other than the ones mentioned above?
Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
