i think this is a minor bug from the site, I also have the same problem, I trying to upload an avatar, but it didn't show anything. I already uploading several images with different format such as, PNG, JPG and Gif. So, this issue is clearly not because of user internet connection anymore, but it may be a bug or because of our browser. well if it's a bug, of course it's not a critical bug, i believe this can be addressed later.
