About drafts after preview?

I second you, both topic title and topic content should be saved in drafts.

Thank you, with other alternatives as suggested, it would be nice if its added. Sometimes, retrieving posts from draft without the title, losses the tone at which you started writing from, getting a replacement will be fine too, but maybe slightly different and not particularly how you intend it to sound like.

Since you won’t give up on it, I will give you a quick solution so you can have it in your draft as you want.
I will assume you normally input the topic before constructing the body of your post from your narration , so it’s quite easy.. Move the title inside the body section at the very top till you complete your post.
This way, you won’t need to worry about losing it.. Cheers

I just keep whatever the default title is when I’m writing a reply. This is a problem that will only concern a very small number of people.

Let's pay your attention on topic titles even you're not topic authors.

Because sometimes trollers or attackers can edit the original topic title to a new one for spreading trolling message or attacking the topic author or the company. It barely happens but if you always don't look at topic title, sometimes you will quote, reply and make your posts with an inaccurate topic title.

Other posters who reply to my post, if don't pay attention, will spread this "Trolling Finneys" further, and I don't think it is good posting style.

This happens (still is) a lot with me in my local section. We actually don't have our own local board yet, so we just use a megathread with 500+pages for local discussion. And the thing is, the original title is long gone, forgotten, buried. People would just make a post with their own titles, and many times we would (intentionally or unintentionally) reply or make separate comments without even changing the title, going off topic etc. It makes the thread a complete mess imo.

So, what's your personal opinion on this? Should changing/editing the title be allowed or not?

Write the topic title in the post content, at the top, if OP don't want to remember the title.

If you write it at post content, it's  nice at that moment, but a situation whereby you stay longer, without posting, your system can logged you out, i have experience such, i stayed an hour plus, when I tried to access forum, I started afresh to login..Shall it depends on the system we use, I can't generalise it.

Why does it matter if system logs you out, drafts will be there in your account, no!?

My guy, this has been already mentioned several times earlier, what's point of making such redundant comments!? Plus, it's just 1 page not like you have to read much even.

Having ability to change the topic title is cool, as it can be changed in the OP and in any post after that, for updating information about what's happened lately in the thread, in the company, in the discussion. You and your locals can do that in your local thread too, why not?

You can see that companies with announcement threads in forum actually change the topic title of their OP and in posts after that too. So why your local community can not do the same, no restrictions by forum rules and no reasons why your community should ignore this cool feature that can be used by topic author and by any poster in that topic. If topic authors don't want that, they can create self-moderated threads for avoiding topic title changes from community.

It is allowed as it has been like this for many years.

This, i fully agree with you. The topic may change, new info may come out, and would therefore need a changing of the title to keep it updated with the latest information, and relevant with the current timeline.

As for why we don't do that? The answer is simple, many times we just forget about changing it. We hit the reply button, keep the default title, write our content and post it without looking at the title.
And I believe, globally, users do the same (not always, but yes many times), whether it's intentionally or unintentionally or call it being lazy.
Maybe it's not about whether we can or cannot, or the restriction, maybe it's our ignorance that causes this. Just speaking my mind.
