If we continually invest in bitcoin for, hypothetically speaking, probably about 10 or 20 years. Is that timeframe sufficient enough to sell bitcoin? Its different from stocks as it does not give dividends and is not like real-estate that helps you preserve wealth as the movement of it fluctuates and is very erratic. Ive also seen some posts on other forums talking that in the far or near future, bitcoin would become a common medium of exchange and would further increase its purchasing power? I find it speculative but its also plausible.

I think this thread should be in the speculation board or Bitcoin discussion. Bitcoin is not an asset that should be sold in a short while for it's most profitable when we accumulate for a longer time and if we should also sell in due time we shouldn't be selling all our Bitcoin hodling, people invest for a reasons some are accumulating Bitcoin for a future purpose, accumulating Bitcoin and hodl for long can yield to a good reward tomorrow.

The best time to sell which should not be all is when an investor has reached his or her accumulation time, if an investor can accumulate persistently, consistently or even something aggressively and hodl for about 4 to 10 years or more can sell some little portion of their Bitcoin hodling and still continue to hodl, when accumulating Bitcoin let's accumulate with money we can afford to loss.

In my point of view, it's all about the plan that you made before entering the bitcoin market. Ans, it's obvious before entering the bitcoin market, you may have planned the buying strategy and selling strategy as well, right? So, once you achieve all your planed target, you can sell your holdings accordingly. And other than this, if we talk about the usage of Bitcoin as a means of exchange, then I think it is very possible that Bitcoin will achieve this goal as well around many edges of the globe.

As this already been started as it is already being used as a means of payment or exchange in El Salvador. Its adoption will increase more once it is being used more as a means of payment across borders for trading paymnets internationaly. But long story short if your attention is just to ask when we should sell our bitcoin, then near me it's simple, just that when you achieve your goals, and you are satisfied, then you can sell your bitcoin holdings. DYOR!

This conversation is getting a little redundant. It really is up to you. You could even sell bitcoin in the next 4 or 5 years if you already feel that that is enough. But ultimately the choice lands on you.

It is still speculative because there is no guarantee that bitcoin would be acknowledged more as a currency than an investment but with how the world is moving now it becomes very likely.

It may be enough to get 10 times your investment, 5 times, or at worst, to keep your money from losing value due to inflation, but it will not change your life, especially if the total investment is $10,000 or less than $10,000.

So, are you looking for Bitcoin because you want to pay stuff with it? Or do you want to preserve your wealth? I don't think timing matters if you want to pay for stuff with Bitcoin. I'm sure the exchange rate will fluctuate, too. Most people probably buy on the spot and send it to the merchant instead of buying now and planning to use it 5 years later. As others have said, your goal will dictate when you sell it.

Personally, I'm saving some sats for retirement. So until then, I won't sell it unless there's an emergency. For example, geopolitical issues that affect how I secure my seed phrase, sudden sickness, etc. It's good to think about the future, but you need to have a proper goal to navigate it properly.

You must keep in mind the status of your invested funds. If you follow the general advice of "use cold funds," then the right time to cash out your Bitcoin is when you need to use it. Of course, you should keep your Bitcoin away from emergencies for at least the next 10 to 15 years if you don't want to mess it up. Importantly, investments don't have to end up in the red; that's different from active trading.

Bitcoin serves both as a currency for transactional purposes and majorly as a store of value and that's the main reason why it was created in the first place. To replace the manipulation of fiat currency by governments and centralization of monetary control to a more decentralized system where the individual holder or Bitcoin investor is the one in charge.

You can obviously sell your BTC after or almost close to a decade, by then it should have gained reasonable returns and if the price part the current price now, am sure you know how much worth that would be.
Incase you don't intend to hold for that long, the truth is that selling off BTC during times of panic may cause you to lose more than you invested in it in the first place.

You can set a specific time frame for Bitcoin accumulation but 20 years is probably too long. Bitcoin price is volatile but you can easily invest in Bitcoin with very small amounts of funds. Some criticize Bitcoin for its volatility but this volatility nature makes Bitcoin unique compared to other investment assets.

Bitcoin investment is risky but it is a great investment technique if you manage your accumulation for the long term. Use discretionary income for Bitcoin accumulation. Do not invest your entire fund in any specific investment because the value of each asset, physical or digital, can decrease. The excess cash fund you have may decrease in value due to inflation but accumulation Bitcoin regularly will gradually increase the value of your assets. DCA strategy is a good strategy for Bitcoin accumulation and take a 4-10 year plan according to your financial capacity.

There's nothing like an hypothetical speaking when you're talking of bitcoin investment because in all cases, it's about the fact that you're already investing or have invested for a set year having a plan on ground and whatever questions you're asking is based on that fact and also that you're making the enquiry so as to help you invest more properly.

Staying invested for a period of ten years is not something that's too deficult to achieve achieve and certainly, before the expiration of the ten years, you should know if you can stay longer invested in bitcoin. If you've barely stayed a year investing in bitcoin and already looking at what it feels like investing for ten years, it sure shows you're just trying to move faster than your shadow.

If your investment is below $10,000, you'll have protected your money and can even increase it slightly, depending on the number of years you expect it to grow. The type of investment, expectations, and waiting period are very important.

However, if you continue investing over the years, it can be different your investment could exceed $10,000, depending on how regularly you invest and the amounts you receive. Nevertheless, in my opinion, it's the best way to protect your money against inflation.

You should sell when the profits you was targetting for are achieved. You should sell the moment you think it is enough for you. Everyone has plans when they invest in bitcoin, I have one, I invested by DCA and I planned to make 2x to 3x. I made it, I booked some of my profit, I failed to book all because for me, it was too hard to sell bitcoin. So I only sold a part of it and kept the remaning. Still holding it, and will see where it takes me.

Anyway, I am not trying to get rich with that part, if you trying to be rich, you need to identify first how much money you need from Bitcoin to be rich and how much money is enough to be rich first. Because if I gets $1Million, I might be rich but I will still try to earn more hehe, typical human nature.

There are many reasons for doing or for not doing it.
Mostly can also being based on your location, culture, professional background, age, familiy needs etc...
Also mostly could be based in the reason you get these coins. If your salary is 100% in btc there are no other solutions...
What has changed from the past is the chance for a loan using btc as collateral. Personally I see this as "the real big news" on the industry.
It is evident that more options (and more value for each coin) would keep bitcoin more valuable just to "possess" and somewhat "hard" to sell Roll Eyes

You sell your bitcoin when you want to make profit. There is no time frame as to whag point is the best but you should be in net profit. The important thing to note is that people are making quite a good return from trading bitcoin over the years. There are very people who bought at the lows and are still in loss.

However dont compare bitcoin with stocks that pay dividends. For the latter buy stocks that do so. There is no centralized body controlling bitcoin ans hence there does not come any question of dividends. But if you learn how to cycle your bitcoin from between high and low you could be making chunks of profit every now and then.

The bottom line is that Bitcoin has a bright future. Our main goal in stocking Bitcoin should be that future. Consider what the purchasing power of Bitcoin was 1 year ago and how much it is now, and even estimate how much it could be in the future. You will not get the same amount of profit from short-term investments as you can get from holding it for a long time.

When you buy Bitcoin and when to sell it depends on your plan. If you are satisfied with a small profit, then you can sell it after getting that amount of profit, if your goal is a multiple profit, then wait. If you have a habit of regretting, then choose long-term holding.

Bitcoin Is For The Risk Takers

You must keep in mind the status of your invested funds. If you follow the general advice of "use cold funds," then the right time to cash out your Bitcoin is when you need to use it. Of course, you should keep your Bitcoin away from emergencies for at least the next 10 to 15 years if you don't want to mess it up. Importantly, investments don't have to end up in the red; that's different from active trading.
For me how I see it it's about the mindset and planning investing money that you won't use instantly or it's just for urgent needs, you won't feel pressured to react in every market movement or changes . With this kind of patience the can avoid emotional decisions, decisions that will end in regrets, instead of you seeing it as a short term or fast trading, the focus will just be on long term value with a proper timing when you will eventually need the money

When you invest, you likely have a pre-determined plan for when to buy and sell Bitcoin. Everyone probably has similar selling opportunities, where we consider the investment process over a specific period and sell our Bitcoin when it reaches its highest price. Talking about Bitcoin becoming a legal currency in general, it may still take time, as it's unlikely to materialize anytime soon. Some people even deliberately hold Bitcoin for retirement, where the investment process isn't just about when to sell Bitcoin, but also about how to accumulate it consistently. In certain conditions, you need to have a much clearer plan regarding the investment you are undertaking so that the growth of your assets can slowly grow and increase.

If you invest Bitcoin for 10 - 20 years it means the price of Bitcoin mist have added value, looking at the time or longitivity of bitcoin investment it shows it a longterm investment,  so if you invedt for a longtime and their is profit then it means you can sell Bitcoin.  Bitcoin investment is not a lifetime investment which you will buy bitcoin and never sell, the essence of buying Bitcoin is to hodl it and make profit,  and when profit is made is to sell because profit in investment are meant to be spent.

You sell your bitcoin when you want to make profit. There is no time frame as to whag point is the best but you should be in net profit. The important thing to note is that people are making quite a good return from trading bitcoin over the years. There are very people who bought at the lows and are still in loss.

you dont need anyone to tell you when to sell your Bitcoin because when you are making a profit, it is your money, and you can decide to do whatever you want to do with your profit, except if you want more profit, you can, and since it's a long-term investment, anyone can decide. And as long as it is not trading, you can decide. And that is why it is always okay for you to hold on to it for a long so the choice is for them to make since they are the holder.

Quote
However dont compare bitcoin with stocks that pay dividends. For the latter buy stocks that do so. There is no centralized body controlling bitcoin ans hence there does not come any question of dividends. But if you learn how to cycle your bitcoin from between high and low you could be making chunks of profit every now and then.

Bitcoin, stocks, and other shares from companies, so people need to understand that they are different, and people are always misunderstanding that they need to choose what they want to invest in. People need to make a choice of which one they want to invest in, but both of them are good.

Have a bitcoin target which you plan to accumulate for your future and start accumulation through DCA till when you reach your bitcoin target. If you have reached your bitcoin target and there's still more time, you can increase your bitcoin target.

You can use your bitcoin investment as your retirement plan in future to help you out financially when you are old. This is why you should plan on accumulating as much as you can with your extra money. Buy and hodli for long term in order to save your money from inflation and limit the risk in the volatile nature of bitcoin.
