Gambling is a game that is meant to be enjoyable by gamblers and is a gamble that is actually enjoyed by some people but without control it can easily turn into an addiction and that’s why it is important to set for yourself clear limitations before you even start.

Here is my first tip, to those who still want to gamble but are scared of not falling into uncontrollable temptations and gambling addiction.

1. The very first simple tip I will give is, you should always decide how much you are willing to lose and never go beyond that same amount. Once you are gambling and the money you budgeted for gambling finishes, stop gambling for the day or week. Do not touch money that is meant for other bills such as food, your utility bills among other responsibilities because if you do so, that will be the fastest way for you to create seriously problems for yourself as a gambler.

2. The second tip is, you should avoid chasing losses because I’ve realized that many people lose control of their gambling plans and money due to chasing one lose or the other there by becoming an habit which easily leads to addiction when they try to recover the money they already lost by all means. For most people and in most cases, this even leads to bigger losses.

3. Gambling while on drugs. I wonder how some people feel so convenient to gamble while on drugs, some call it enjoyment, others call it adventure but to me, it is a terrible thing to do as far as gambling is concerned. You can’t gamble with your money when you are not in your right state of mind thinking that’s enjoyment. That is a total mess and bad behavior and that’s how one can easily get into gambling addictions without even knowing when and how. First, if you are a gambler, stop using drugs because that’s a double risks and should be avoided by all means.

I will stop at these tips while I await more from you all. Please the bottom line is, let’s gamble responsibly, if you must gamble and stay out of bad habits and practices that will lead to gambling addiction because it is easier to get to that stage but very difficult to leave.

I’ll add a couple more to your list. Not from personal experience though, just saying.

4. Use the tools that gambling platforms give you. Most sites have things like deposit limits, loss limits or even a cool-off option. It’s actually a good idea to turn those on, because sometimes relying only on self-control isn’t enough.

5. Also learn to stop even when you’re winning. Everyone warns about chasing losses, but winning can lead to the same thing. After a good win many people keep playing and give it back later. Sometimes the best move is to stop while you’re ahead.

I would say, don't make it as a habit, addiction is nothing but our habit lost control and we are just doing as much as we want. One should keep gambling as some kind of exclusive thing and just enjoy it once in a while even spend more money but daily spending money  will increase the chance of addiction compared to an occasinonal player.

Make gambling as your least priority like do it only if you don’t have other chores or activities that will occupy your time.

Remember that gambling is for entertainment purposes only which means this shouldn’t be your top priority on your schedule. This way you will avoid addiction since you will not think of it most of the time whenever you are free.

I do this personally. I prioritize my job and due to my workload I only have minimal time to gamble. Less time to gamble means less addiction.

I agree with everything, and I don't really mind if this is repeated here in the forum, especially in the gambling section. Why? Well, we are all prone to gambling addiction, so we might as well be reminded of the prevention, so we won't be sucked into it.
It's a big problem that needs to be discussed many times because there will always be newbies who might get hooked into gambling and cannot find their way out.

I will only add the setting of time. Yes, not just money. There are slot games that remind us if we have been playing for a long time, and I actually like that kind of feature. PGSoft (Pocket Games Soft) has that said feature, and it will tell the gambler that he has been playing for an hour and ask if he/she wishes to continue.

Aside from not chasing losses, do not dare to chase profits as well. If you believe that gambling will offer a good amount of money especially for jobless people, stop that illusion. Do not expect that gambling is a reliable source of money making, it turns out the source of agony instead.

And if you're not ready to lose even the smallest amount, stay away from gambling. Gambling is not for weak people. You can be lucky at the moment, but the rest of the days you'll end up the loser. So be cautious when you are gambling, gambling is not for everyone.

Gambling addiction is a bad habit gamblers develop as a result of not practicing responsible gambling. Addiction is not a good thing and it's difficult to overcome when addicted that's why there are helpful tips to help avoid it. I wouldn't say I haven't seen a post sharing tips to avoid addiction but it's still good to keep reminding people about how avoid addiction so it a good work OP.
All are very useful tips but I think the most important one is to never chase after losses and never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

Treat gambling as a business, and you are what it takes for them to profit. So the more you decide to gamble, the bigger their gains, less gambling time, the lower their profits. That way, if you don't want to be the losing end, set time limits for gambling, as well as the money you are entering into gambling casinos.

Prioritize your job and your family, make gambling as an option. Its okay to gamble whenever you are longing for entertainment, but that should only be once or even twice a week. If you go beyond that, gambling is not serving its purpose anymore. You are slowly falling into gambling addiction.

I can chase loss at times, but the chasing will not be beyond my gambling budget which is still a small amount of money. Since this year, I stopped chasing losses.

My contribution to this thread is believing what influencers are saying. Many followers become gamblers because of the influencer they are following. When an influencer starts promoting casinos after years of entertaining their followers with other content, followers are quick to believe what they say.

When the influencer you're following starts promoting things like gambling, be objective, do your research, and find out whether they are paid influencers and why they are promoting these things.

Greed is the main reason why we can't avoid gambling addiction imo and it doesn't go away even when we win big amounts. On the contrary, it gets even worse. And then we end up losing everything. That's the trap. If we can control our greed, we can control our gambling habits. Many people think they are special, they can beat the odds etc and that's how they keep coming back and make bigger bets. It gets dangerous the moment I keep dreaming of getting rich from gambling.

Don't treat gambling as your main source of income, or think about it to make money because it's not. Because if you did then you are going to fail because it's the unknown, every bet has the risk and chances that you are not going to win. Mindset and self-discipline, if you have been in gambling, then at least by now you should have known how to control yourself and when to say enough is enough. Don't listen to anyone, specially those who are close to you that has been gambling and don't be influence by them. Know your limits and that's it stop when your bankroll is empty. OP, do you really believe that someone who uses drugs will listen to your advice? Drug addicts are people who already have an addiction, so in their case, gambling addiction will go hand in hand with their love of drugs. There is a good way to find out who can become a victim of any addiction. Think about it if you have any psychological problems or injuries that could affect the brain or if there are debts that you are unable to pay off properly, as well as an attachment to alcohol. If these addictions or problems exist, then these people should not start gambling at all. As you say, OP, gambling is entertainment, and not only will it not help people with problems, but it will also involve them in even more debt.

The tips that's proven very effective for me are these

• have a separate account which you fund your casino and only put in that account your gambling budget
• Don't deposit into the casino when you've exhausted your gambling budget until your next inflow
• Relegate gambling to the least activity of the day and don't gamble in your productive moments

Using gambling as an escape from poverty can cause addiction since it makes the person to be in a state of quick desire of wealth overnight, so my tips are, let no one take gambling as an escape from poverty, let no one see gambling as the quickest way to make a huge amount of money overnight such kind of money comes with heavy risk. Don't not set unrealistic target of the amount you want to win from gambling and don't also bet with your friends telling them that you can win a certain amount from gambling, that bet will push you as a gambler to go wild 🤷‍♀️.

Always gamble on a budget, especially one which you can comfortably afford to loose and will have no problem with loosing such amount at the time. Do not gamble randomly because you may loose so much that you will not be able to bear such loose, addiction may gradually creep in at that point and you may also loose your mind , having the discipline of gambling on a budget will do you more good and help you save money than you would when you gamble at random. If possible have a time and day which you gamble asides which you stay away from the casino. The period of times you stay away from the casino, you could actually be saving your self some loses and never sse it like you would have worn instead if you were at the casino those times.

See gamble like a home of entertainment and treat it as such, if you see it otherwise and pursue it in that light, it is very likely you are going  to engage in an unhealthy gambling practice but then you see it as entertainment, you just want to have fun within a period and you exit after you must have had enough fun.

Thank you very much @op for those wonderful tips, but I really find it unfortunate that this are tips like this scattered every where around gambling related websites and even social medias, some casinos even have written extensively on how to gamble responsibly but then in our different societies, it seems like gambling addiction continue to rise and those who get involved in a serious gambling problem also continue to rise to an extent that some times, we even see or read in the news that a gambler committed suicide due to gambling related issues which is always about losing money they could not afford to lose and all..

And i understand that many gamblers don't read and even some who read either do not understand or deliberately choose to ignore the advises and warning and continue to gamble the way they like..
But then, my joy remains that every responsible gambler will not and does not regret, regret only comes when they choose to deviate from maintaining their responsibility.

Being disciplined is the key to avoiding gambling addiction, while taking every privilege for granted to gamble is one of the key ways to easily get addicted, that you have free access does not mean you should always be gambling without planning well, we are expected to ensure some effective management practices as a gambler, so that things will be done in a regular manner without being affected by any chance.
