House edge doesn't care about your skill level. The math always wins given enough time.
Your skill will make you feel like you are winning based on the little wins that come from time to time, but when you calm down and check the record of the games that you have been losing in the long run, it's always been the house winning against you; only a few lucky people have been able to be in profit. Anyone who's in profit after taking account of his gambling history should count himself among the few luckiest gamblers because it's not something that many gamblers tend to benefit. There are high number of losers but when it happens they they're making a little win in the middle while they're losing it looks as though they ain't really losing it all, but going through total games played they would understand they're at a huge losing end to the house.

Funnily enough, people who believe they can defeat the casino and the edge of the house are people who do not have much knowledge or experience with mathematics. I have the personal opinion and theory that the more one person knows about mathematics and laws of chances, then the less likely that person to partake in gambling, like casino games, lotteries and even betting. I studied a little bit of laws of chances back in college, so I have a good enough understanding on how gambling works. One only needs to read a basic book about distribution of gauss

Making a career out of gambling is highly unlikely almost impossible in fact. Even if it were possible as you mentioned, it would apply to only 1 in 100 people. I agree with you that it’s doubtful anyone could succeed in the long run especially with slot machines where winning depends entirely on luck. However, with games that require skill it might be possible though the number of people who actually succeed is very small.
That one minus 99 in 100 is the same thing you and Malek are talking about. Even in skill-based games, you can't be lucky all the time to the point of seeing the winning as a means of survival. It doesn't always work as people plan and expect it; they are always the ones who will wake up some day and consider themselves victims when they lured themselves into it in the first place.

Let's not leave reality and start facing what is not, some expectations should be discouraged or assumed as vain analysis, because we need money to be able to gamble and not to expect to see gambling as our source of income, this is the foremost challenge many newbies in gambling encounter, because they have put in all their mind on gambling as a sustainable means for them to end a living, which is totally wrong.

Small wins often create a false sense of control thus covering the larger losses in the long run, and most players tend to have gone beyond what they win. Gambling is not a safe and reliable form of earning. It is far safest to play it as entertainment, in which case any victories are a bonus and not a surprise. Some of them will be (lucky) and to most, the math does not lie.

Well, here we have yet another thread discussing gambling in general terms without making any distinctions, and it’s no wonder that the OP—and many of those responding—are confused about the different types of gambling. This distinction is essentially relevant to the question at hand, and as has already been pointed out, it is possible to earn a sustainable income, but only in certain types of gambling, not in everything we call gambling. Whether it’s easy is another matter. It isn’t. 99 out of 100 people won't succeed in making gambling a profession. There are just too many variables. A skillful poker player can make it as a pro and if they have a good sponsor. Even a sports bettor who becomes an expert in certain sports or leagues can earn money if they don't mind doing the research. I doubt anyone else will succeed long-term, especially not slot players.
That’s the thing: if you want a sustainable income, you won’t be able to beat the house edge, so you’ll have to focus on games that don’t have one. But be prepared to put in hours of study and effort to grow a bankroll—and mentally prepare yourself to weather losing streaks.

Gambling in most occasions should be regarded as a form of entertainment, but not as an avenue of making a living. Even in games of skill, i.e. poker or sports betting, long term success takes a great deal of knowledge, discipline, bankroll learning and experience. Nevertheless, the dangers are still too significant as gambling is always associated with variance and unpredictable losses. Most individuals begin with the intention to make some money only to lose even more than they had intended. This is why it would be wiser to see gambling as a form of entertainment and not a main source of livelihood.

That would be a rare thing but you are right though, because its not easy to make it out more than the losses you have, which the casino owners already know that. That is why they do advise one to gamble with what they can easily lose, which they won't feel bad about it, because there is every chance that losses must be more than wins, no matter transparent the casino might be. Which is why gambling its totally based on luck and chance, in which some persons might be luck to win big while some might not but wherever place one find themselves, they should do the needful by approaching gambling to be a game of fun.

The safest thing to do as a gambler is just to accept gambling to be for entertainment, and accept the fact that no matter how one does it, it can't become rich or successful through gambling, as it is not the idea why it was made. So people should face the fact and do the right thing by gambling responsibly no matter the situation one finds themselves, if they can't be able to handle pressure, its better to let go. That is it will be of best advantage if they quit or stop gambling, if they are not getting what they are expecting from gambling.

Due to this reason, many people can hardly make gambling a stable source of income. Short term victories can provide a confidence to the players but tend to cover the larger losses that follow them. Although there may be a few experienced players who can make money in some places they are very few. Gambling to most individuals is nothing more than entertainment and the winnings are an added bonus.

Many people believe that they can survive through gambling and make it their source main source of income, the truth is that gambling doesn't guarantee steady income because the outcome most times depend on luck and probability, casinos and betting platform design the games in way that it will favour the house in the long run, this shows that even if gamblers win today, they still have high chances of losing later, because of this, many people see gambling as entertainment, something that one can do for fun with the money one can afford to loss, and when one begin to depend on gambling to pay bills, feed family, or to survive, the pressure can make the person take more dangerous risks, chase losses, and end up losing more money.
NOTE: anyone that depend on gambling as their main source of income will face risk, depression, frustration and financial losses, there's no professional gamblers, just have deep knowledge and accept that losses are going to happen sometimes.
If any gambler think that they can keep making ends meet through gambling, they should ask themselves if gambling is actually a source, we gamblers are responsible for what happens to us because if we can actually understand gambling I don't think people that gamble for fun are foolish, there are reasons for that, may be for them to stay responsible, not to be tempted to gamble extremely, investment is not even guaranteed 100% talk more of gambling that we know it doesn't have a definite outcome, a circumstance that's unforseen, it will amount to a high level of misunderstanding and personal deceit for any gambler to have in their mind that gambling is a sustainable source of income, gambling is for entertainment but anyone want to take it for another thing, it will still have to be with what they can afford.

Perhaps, to be precise, only a few people can actually experience it; though anyone can try it, the end result won’t be the same because, after all, we can’t control the outcome of gambling. So, I agree with the statement that it’s better to do it just for entertainment gambling shouldn’t be treated as a source of income or a way to make money, since the profits aren’t guaranteed to meet our expectations. Even if some people hope for satisfying results before playing, that’s due to luck as well.

Definitely right, but most gamblers doesn't understand what it takes to be profitable in gambling and also to be ablebto sustain their self control in gambling, they think that being profitable in gambling involves betting with money they can't afford to lose, forgetting that gambling is a game of luck, which one is not sure if they will always be lucky to win. But having that self cautiousness of responsible gambling, they will know that even with a little amount of money can make them to win big, if only they have the clear mindset of gambling.

As a form of entertainment it makes the gambler to easily settle for what comes it way, a win or loss, it doesn't move him to struggle for more so far as he's getting his entertainment by using the amount he is convenient spending on gambling. The energy to beat the house would be potentially beneficial if directed to other affairs of financial gains not gambling.

I wouldn’t entirely say it’s for entertainment, as your topic suggests. I believe gambling is mostly done with the attempt and intent to drastically increase someone’s finances.
What I will say is never advisable is using gambling as a source of income, that’s where I draw the line, because we all know nothing is guaranteed. So yeah, resist the attempt to make gambling your main source of income, because you’ll be lucky not to find yourself severely depressed after many losses.

Snip You are right about the house advantage--they make the house so that in the long run, they always win. Short-term victories may seem like ability or chance, yet in any case it is very unlikely that everyone will be able to make a steady profit through gambling. The maths doesn't lie indeed but some would want to pretend when trying to share to the public their win to lose ratio. Honesty with ourselves in terms of our win rate makes us not fall into the delusions of other people in the open. We would say that spending time to beat the game provider is a time wastage that should not have been spent in the first place. Instead that would be invested in a business or other ventures that will make logical returns to family future. In this view, we guarantee that all dollars and all our time is efficiently utilised.

Thinking of taken gambling as a source of income (no as the casino owner) is so wrongggg. Because the wins are not certain, cause is a game of uncertainty and that’s not something you want to take as a source of income . It is best when treated as a form of entertainment, so you can be entertained when you earn some couple of free bucks sometimes , which will belike a bonus for the fun you had watching and placing a bet on a particular game , find a good source of income and invest your time in it while gambling for fun .

The energy to beat the house would be potentially beneficial if directed to other affairs of financial gains not gambling. I've sometimes considered channeling the time and energy I've spent on the game into a business or a job that provides a stable income, but the problem is that players aren't interested in stability. The thrill of gambling gets the blood pumping and the heart racing, meaning a player's only thought is about placing a bet and finding out the outcome. I think professionals can focus on making money, but regular players can't compete with them, as that would require them to dedicate all their time to the game, and few would be willing to do that.

Instead that would be invested in a business or other ventures that will make logical returns to family future. In this view, we guarantee that all dollars and all our time is efficiently utilised. You are both saying the same thing with different words- the mathematics of gambling is the same. The house advantage will ensure that the casino will make a profit in the long run, although there will be temporary winners among the gamers. It is the matter of being honest with ourselves which is the true problem with many gamblers pointing out good wins and neglecting the accumulated losses making them think they are winning. Attempting to beat the house is a waste of time and energy that can be devoted to other productive and positive-return activities such as business or investment. As long as people do not overstep boundaries and use gambling as an additional source of income, it is an okay activity to engage in as entertainment, but as a source of income, it is far-fetched and can be detrimental to the majority of the population.
