It's a bug involving whitespace. It's harmless, and barely noticeable, but I just thought I'd bring it up.

When you begin a post with newline, and you click "Post", it correctly displays with the newlines under the horizontal bar. But when you click 'Edit", the leading newlines are stripped from the post editor, making it look like the were never inserted in the first place.

Also, double newline seems to be collapsed to a single newline after posting.

This post actually contains leading newlines, to show you a practical example of it. It doesn't happen with "Quote".

edited for clarity

This sounds like a feature to clear up useless newlines, not a bug.

I don't see this happening:

No, it's not. The newlines have to be at the very beginning of the post to reproduce this bug.

I agree, and I think it should be better implemented...
I find line breaks at the beginning and end of posts useless. I've seen users abusing this "feature" to reserve more space in posts, or inserting double lines between paragraphs unnecessarily. This just makes me spend even more time scrolling with my mouse Tongue

I think this "bug" should be improved to eliminate all white space at the beginning and end of posts, as well as double spaces in the middle of paragraphs.

While I don't know why someone would want to start his post with one or few empty lines, I don't agree to too strict formatting restrictions. It should remain a user's choice to layout his post as they like.

If your layout choices annoy other users, you likely land on their ignore list or are called out. And from my browsing experience in this forum I don't see it to be much of an issue.

Mindless full-quotes or excessive pyramid full-quotes are a lot more frequent and annoying issue (to me) than double newlines or similar. (I propose: every full-quote deducts a merit point (with exceptions for reputation or similar related archival full-quotes) Cheesy)
