Lack of financial management.
That's all I can say, but at least he enjoyed his winnings for eight years, those years he will never forget.
A $12.7M windfall can start a business, and that's a huge amount.
If he had managed it, he would never have returned to his old life.

Some of them who are lucky to win the mega prices really make long term life changing while some like this dude behind the scene goes broke untimely. Some even feel regrets and wishes for second lucky chance to correct their irresponsible mistakes with how they lavished their money after winning the huge amounts.

    

Even though this is one example of a case where gambling can change the gambler's life in terms of their finances but indeed poor money management makes him not survive with the jackpot he has.
It's just that on average it's like this where some of my friends also have big winnings in gambling even it's already many times the salary they have every month but when a bad lifestyle and can't manage finances properly then situations like what happened to the jackpot winner is what happened.

I agree with you, the major challenge on circumstances like this does not require the source where the money comes from whether in gambling or payments from work done.
At some points it is not also about how huge the fund is before it can be manageably useful and spent in the way that is not going to be regretted like when we can not give responsible account to the funds.

In fact, I am angry with gamblers who waste their chances after getting a big chance and carelessly lose their winnings, but I keep calm. In fact, gamblers are always like that, most of them cannot keep their money, they will lose it in any way. But the person you mentioned here is really the stupidest because despite getting a lot of money, he is carelessly using his money to win a second time.

I'd say they are forever gamblers and it's probably a given that they'll lose it all if they wouldn't make some wealth management which J think he might not have known. Well, at least he's much better now looking as a garbage man lol. They're probably shocked about what they've gained and probably get thinking it will be forever. To be honest 8 years isn't worst I guess with that timeline before he goes bankrupt.

It's their live and chances so if they end up blowing it there's no need to waste your time on that, just like this gambler there are others that won significant amounts of money from gambling but they later end up blowing it, some mismanage the money and most of them end up losing it back into that game. after winning such amount of money it's funny how one would assume that the gambler wouldn't go broke again but they end up mismanaging what they have and start regretting the actions that they took.some opportunities don't come twice

He simply saw an amount he never imagined he’d ever be able to make in his account and then thought that it was too big an amount that he’d ever go broke again, or so he thought and then he went on with his lavish lifestyle only for everything to run dry. That’s just the summary of what happened.

There are people who don’t even have a plan for their life, at age 30 you still don’t have a plan, all they do is to live daily and keep living like that no plans for the future at all and I think this guy falls into such category because if he had a plan then he’d have been able to manage the money he won and make something good from it.

That is their decision. If they have failed to make that money as their empire, at least they would say that they have enjoyed it until it lasts. While they haven't prepared for the future, they have no idea that they will ran out of it. And the adjusted would be there from the time that they're broke again. So, once a broke will prove them that they'll be broke again if they have no knowledge on how they're going to keep that money they've won from gambling. I don't believe with the people that says that if that money is earned from gambling, it will ran out quickly. That still depends on what kind of person the winner and if they have the money management skill.

You can't really blame people who suddenly become millionaires but have no experience managing their finances. It's common for them to lose that wealth over time. I've seen or read similar stories many times, like someone poor winning the lottery, only to end up in a worse situation a few years later, sometimes even drowning in debt. That's the typical behavior of the so-callled new rich. They get access to a huge amount of capital without having any idea on the effort and the sacrifice which is behind all that money.

And since they do not anything about money and it's value, they spend it all without any piece of responsibility and self-awareness. They getting back into poverty is the inevitable fate due to all I have described, mixed with a lack of financial education and a plan for the future.

If someone wins the lottery and does not think about investing and securing and future, then that person is very likely to get bankrupt again.
At least, he enjoyed his short life as a millionaire, I guess.

This exactly is my problem with gambling money and those who claim people can actually become rich via gambling. True, people can indeed win life changing money by gambling, but the question is, are they capable of actually maintaining or sustaining that wealth? Any wealth without a solid foundation usually doesn’t last at all and gambling is definitely not quite a solid foundation at all, so it takes only someone with a great deal of discipline and financial management to be able to know exactly how to adequately invest that money in order to sustain the wealth.

I know of someone very close to me that won a few k$s, and the first thing this nigga thought of doing was to go get a car, meanwhile he initially didn’t know how to drive, so he bought the car and was actually learning with the car, spent money on irrelevances, maybe because he thought the money would never finish, in a matter of months, the money got wasted, crashed the car and packed at home, and after a very long time, he sold it at the scrapyard, was left with nothing and went back to his usual gambling routine.

Personally I don’t have a problem with such gamblers, but I have a problem that people just think that when they hit some huge amounts in gambling, everything was gonna be fine.

he was once poor so i understand he was excited to try things he has never before but spending his money after 8 years he should have realized along the way how he’ll sustain his money. unfortunately he didn’t have that awareness which landed him back to where he was.

What makes a lot of people poor isn't their lack of money or opportunity; it's their lack of character, sense of discernment, discipline. This case here strongly illustrates that.

I suppose we can't all be smart spenders, there's bound to be people who don't see the value of the money they have until they've spent it all and then they start crying for second chances but the sad truth is that for most of this people a second chance will end the same way the first chance did, there is not way you would win $12m and not at least considered investing or growing a business but the life of luxury still burnt the whole thing down, they miss that life and will still go back to it if the opportunity presents itself.

They've wasted the opportunity that they have been given. Not everyone can win a huge jackpot, that's our dream and we know that odds are not on our favor. But this guy, who lives in the street before then suddenly have this windfall that literally change his life for the better. However, he really didn't know how to manage his finance and probably have the wrong set of people around, all free loaders and just wanted to be close to him because of his money. But in a year or two, everything is gone, his money, his houses, cars, everything. So there's no one to put blame to but himself, he is the classic example of why huge money is not for everyone because they don't know how to handle that circumstances.

You wouldn't know what will happen next, til it is already in front of your face. So we can't judge this person for not taking the winning opportunity to really change his life for lifetime. Because a gambler is always a gambler, so he maybe thought that he won't run out of money, hence, that unfortunate event happen again as he goes back to his old life.

We can, especially if the person took almost a decade for his money to run out, and no, gambler will not always be a gambler, anyone with common sense, gambler or not, would soon realise that their money is starting to run out and they need to do something about it(I am now in general now).

Anyway, I did a bit of looking, the story I remember was that, he won, spent money luxury items and life style and eventually ran out, but it turns out I was wrong, the guy did try to invest, but from what I understand, those investment were poorly planned, so he lost money insteand of earning.

Personally, I believe that dude behind tscene that you are talking about points to fact that winning money is just money based event, and keeping it is skill of how you act. Most people who do win money do not become wealthy because they do not have any experience dealing with big money and have not built habits that are needed to keep it.
So, money is just short term loan from universe unless you have wisdom to use it, and those who have learned skill of managing money were not born that way, but have gained it through learning.
