I'm also not an active player, I prefer to rock my game gradually by betting few games especially in sports. I don't go all out for the risk even when there is the urge to increase the stake because the risk of losing always get locked in my mind. I have experienced negative side of being an active player by involving in multiple bet and martingale as it didn't turn out well.

If we relate that idea to sports betting, then the goal is really to stay rock solid with discipline. But honestly I’m not always like that. Many times I’m more of an action player, sometimes chasing losses and wanting more bets even when I’m already winning but still not satisfied.

That’s why the advice we always read about proper bankroll management really matters. It sounds simple but it’s hard to apply consistently. If someone can truly stick to that mindset, then that’s what I would call being rock in gambling.

I love to play slots more often followed by crash, plinko and dice in the particular order but also I play poker once in a while and when I do I like to be aggressive like raises the hand instead of just pass or fold, not sure if that's the right strategy but it helped to deceive the players more often than me losing the bets.

I believe i am a Rock player when it comes to every form of gambling due to the game being more in favor of the house than the players, so what I always practise is bankroll management for longer gaming to keep my buzz/gambling psychology in check, while I also prevent the habit of using funds meant for something on gambling.
I only use the action method after the bonus round was profitable, but all this after i have a withdrawal.

Honestly, in all my years of playing poker, I didn't know there were terms for certain players, but I can be aggressive at the table even with bad cards to upset my opponents psychologically. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I get treated that way by my opponents. Conversely, I can play calmly, raising the bet little by little or just waiting for two high cards at the start and going all-in. I prefer to be calm and use small amounts during gambling. So I fall under the Rock category. Those who are action gamblers are high-risk takers who target winning big. They don't mind placing a large bet at once. Rock players like us prefer to use a minimum bet so that they can gamble for a long time and enjoy the season. I like spreading my risks instead of placing a huge amount in a single bet.

It's very strange that everyone I know who plays poker tends to be very confident. They always give me the impression that when they play, they're there to win money, a lot of money, or lose everything. They're not worried about playing for many rounds; they're just having fun. Reason why someone would be acting similarly in somewhere else then pro poker table comes from a different motive though.

In poker, it's a tactic you want to use, if you want to see how others react to different situations or just to see if you can control the table and being a rock helps you to just observe what behavioral patterns others have.

In casino, it's not a tactic, or at least a tactic that would make any difference. Imho when someone is suddenly changing to higher stakes in a casino, they could be in a hurry or bored and wanting the rush and gains / losses to be more intense.

You can easily separate gamblers into two categories, and these two poker terms can fit exactly for every kind of gambler. However, I have a question, what would you call a person who can sometimes be an action player and sometimes a rock? Yeah, that's me. I know it's confusing for you guys how a person can be calm and aggressive. I am, but it's not at the same time. When my luck is good, I can go for a large bet, a big one, and when I'm on a losing streak, I change into calm mode and play safely to minimize losses while looking for good profits.

This classification of 'Action player' and 'Rock' is generally known as LAG (loose aggressive) player and NIT (who only plays strong hands) player when it comes to poker world. IMO, this cannot be applied in slots or for that matter in any of the games with fixed -EV (Expected Value). No matter how you will play the slots, the EV will be the same, but when it comes to poker it changes as per your opponent/you.
This classification fails when apply to casino based games. If you apply it to casino games, the only thing that would change is the rate of depletion of your bankroll

I am a rock gambler from your explanation, I am an observer type of person and that lets me scale through everything I do, I don't just jump into something because it seems reward easy going, when I strike my first shot, I watch how it goes and keep track of every movement and check whether it's worth my time or not.

But my problem is that, I don't leave something untill it actually becomes successful no matter the time it takes me, how stressful it may seem, so long as I maintain my rocky behavior.


Anything that made me violate my rocky life and take the action player features into the picture, I'll get serious accident that that may never heal at all.

When I first got into gambling, I did it casually with relatively small bets and waited for the game to reach a bonus or big multiplier like you said, but as time went on, I got bolder and increased my bets until now I'm in the habit of betting pretty high, and I feel like there's been a drastic change in either my bets or my gambling behavior. The bottom line is, no matter the bet amount, make sure you're prepared to lose and can accept the fact of defeat.

When playing poker we have to understand how we can make our moves and not be distracted to get it in the right position, you don't have to go by what others may be using while playing; instead, we have to go by what works for us and could make us have the best chance of winning. Because we have a good understanding of why we are doing so. Everyone playing must gets the ideology behind every move made.
