This is the official bitcoin forum.

If you need help to recover your bitcoin, you need to first tell us a few things:

- Do you remember where you bought it from?
- Which wallet did you use to store it?
- Do you have anything as backup? a wallet.dat file? a seedphrase? a private key? (make sure to NOT show, or post those if you do).

You'd be better off asking your friend what platform it was and what year you purchased btc. Recovery methods vary for each platform, and may have more than one method. Without any hint, we can't help you. Your story seems to point to a centralized platform, but I'm not sure.

If you are saying the truth, just be very careful of some people that will PM you, telling you that they are recovery service, that they can help you. Just know that they are not planing to help you but to scam you.

You can easily know them because they will demand for money from you upfront or later before rendering you any service. No service that they want to render but to scam you.

You must provide more details about where did you store the bitcoin you bought at that time. Do you still have logins you did used for registration? because I think you used a web-wallet or an exchange since you didn't mention anything about a wallet or private keys.

I advice you not to share any information with profiles that might contact you in private messages. Members here can help you in public without the need for PMs for the time being. Feel free to share here the name of the platform you used to buy bitcoin, and the platform you used to store them.

Pretty bad if you bought that BTC from the exchange; without moving it to your own wallet, the chances of recovering your wallet are slim because the well-known exchanges before were MT.Gox, Bitcoinica or Bitfloor. Those exchanges are already gone.

But if you move them to your wallet and if you have the seed phrase or private key or wallet.dat file as mentioned above, then there's a chance to recover your wallet.

Just a suggestion: if ever you have a backup, I suggest recovering it on the offline wallet and take the BTC address or public key and check them in any Bitcoin explorer to confirm if you still have BTC in your wallet.

Sad situation but it also some how funny how you don't even know the name of the exchange which your friend used to get the bitcoin for you back then, and is your friend still around that you can contact him and get more information. Maybe you might have moved it into a private wallet, which ever be the case the chance of your getting your more depends on the amount of the information you have and how helpful it can be let it not just be one of those old exchanges which are no longer existing, and you also need to come online and answer some few questions let people know where they are channeling their help tips on.

You asked a question about how you can recover your Bitcoin, which shows you must have heard or seen something that made you visit this forum. Yet you're asking what the platform is all about  Roll Eyes

Anyway, you didn't give any details regarding your 'request for help' thread. There's no way we can possibly help you without anything to work on.
Give us the how, when and where details. Why was it purchased by your friend though?

It's good to ask for help, but if you want a solution to your problem, you have to tell it in detail with the right information. Otherwise, no one will be able to give you a solution. But you can be sure that you will not find any other platform that is better, safer and more reliable than this one to solve your Bitcoin problems. So, you have to first specify what your problem is, i.e. you have lost wallet access, or you have forgotten your private key or seed phrase, or your friend had Bitcoin but now your friend is saying something different. If you don't say something clearly, no one will be able to give you a proper solution to your problems.

When you talked "the website looks really old", you make me think that you bought bitcoin on that site, and stored it on that site too. Storing bitcoin on online website and account is very dangerous.
Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts.

Your case is more dangerous as you bought and stored bitcoin on that site for some years so you will need access to your account there for withdraw your bitcoin to your non custodial wallet.
Without any extra information from you, it's hard to give you more support.

You asked a question about how you can recover your Bitcoin, which shows you must have heard or seen something that made you visit this forum. Yet you're asking what the platform is all about  Roll Eyes
Yes, this is true. Even with AI, I get this:

Quote
For questions, advice, and tracking assistance regarding stolen Bitcoin, several specialized forums and platforms are recommended.
Top Forums and Communities
Bitcoin Talk (bitcointalk.org): The oldest and most prominent forum for discussing Bitcoin. The "Bitcoin Technical Support" and "Off-topic" sections frequently host threads where users discuss hacks and share tracking tips.
Reddit (r/Bitcoin): The dedicated subreddit has a large, active community that can provide advice on how to track stolen funds, secure your wallet, and potentially identify scams.
Chainabuse (chainabuse.com): A community-driven, TRM-powered platform that allows victims to report fraudulent cryptocurrency addresses, which helps in flagging stolen funds for exchanges and investigators.
Quora: Numerous threads exist where security experts and victims discuss stolen Bitcoin, providing, in many cases, actionable advice on tracing transactions and reporting to authorities.

So he would have gotten some information about this forum before he created an account to ask a question.

Also since he asked the question, he has not visited this thread. Let us hope he is going to come back but I doubt if he will be able to get back the coins, but a least he should give information that has been asked from him to know if there is any possibility of recovering the coin.

This happened around late 2016.  I’m not so sure with wallet, but the last time i had a conversation with my friend, he said it was from a platform called Bitx.
Then it was sent to my wallet which was created on my computer.

What is this platform for btw? Because this website looks really old. I wonder what’s going on here and if I can be helped here.

Bitcointalk forum, a place where BTC OGs gather & discuss. By the way, this forum was created directly by the creator of BTC, Satoshi Nakamoto.

That means the BTC is now on your computer, is there a problem with your computer that you can't access bros @Rafel Marcel?

A lot of persons and things I read has been talking about this seed pharse, but I don’t have it. Even if I did have it, it will be in my old computer..
Does that mean I can’t get the Bitcoin without a seed pharse?

Yes, unfortunately if you have lost your ''Seed Recovery Phrase'' and login details for your Bitx account then you cannot access your bitcoin funds.
It is important to understand that you have not lost your bitcoin funds, they still exist, but you have lost access to them.
The only advice I can give you is to search your old computer (if you have replaced it) or old email and try to find your Bitx login details or 'Seed Recovery Phrase'.
This is the only way to get your bitcoin funds back.
Good luck!

What's the name of the wallet? Without the seed phrase, you won't be able to access the coins. Is the wallet still on your old computer? If it is, you should check if the wallet is on your old computer and then see if it can be accessed using a password.

(had to change my first post, I missed the last part of the sentence)

There is no way you can get your bitcoins back without your seed phrase. Seed phrase are like the keys to a locker and without the keys you certainly can't gain access to what's inside the locker. In other words the seed phrase gives you the authority to claim ownership of what's inside your wallet and if someone else's get hold of them they can as well claim your coins and make transactions from your wallet. It might also be a good idea to check your old computer maybe you have a backup there.

Since you said that you lost seed phrase, the only way you can get access to your bitcoin if you still have that computer and the bitcoin wallet where you stored the bitcooin+password to unlock the wallet.

If not, then you can forget about it.
