I have a hard time watching the fight because Donaire is getting beaten a lot. His corner did the right thing. Although the fight was close, I don't think Donaire can pull a knockout or a comeback.
This is the time for Donaire to hang up his gloves; there's no need to prove he was a multi-division titleholder and was considered one of the top Filipino boxers.
With his vast experience in boxing, he can still be involved in the sport as a trainer, manager, or promoter, helping create new generations of champions.

So I think that call was the best thing to do instead of letting their boxer received more damage, though he can still win via KO but that's more unlikely since he can't throw a punch anymore and just doing a defense. Overall, it's a good match both boxers were professional and disciplined until the end of match.

Donaire was badly hurt, looks like his age is already reflecting on his performance.. not the same boxer anymore and this already calls for retirement so he won’t suffer more damage if he still decides to fight. He has already proven himself, nothing more to achieve and retiring is a good way of keeping his legacy in boxing.

Btw, Masuda won the match via TKO on 8th round. Donaire was knocked down in the 7th round, and in the 8th round, Donaire's team threw the towel, and the referee stopped the fight. Donaire took heavy damage to his right eye.

Donaire is not the same as he used to, it's time for him to retire.

Yeah, father time has already caught up with Nonito Donaire and i hope also that that will be his last fight as it was clear that he could no longer go the distance, i mean he clearly faded in the later rounds. Even in defeat with Masuda, i could say that he fought with his heart out and nothing to be embarrassed with that loss. Every good thing must come to an end and this is the end for the Filipino Flash and i'm proud that i saw him fight during his peak.

Not in the sense that he is negative, but he says that it's time for Donaire to stop boxing for good as he is no longer the left hook that we used to see him. I thought Donaire still has those explosive punches, but I think it was not the same as it was before. I saw the counter punches connected on the face of Masuda, but it done nothing at all.  Donaire's speed is also gone, this simply shows that it is really time for him to retire.

With this match, it seems that he needs to hang his gloves already. He may have the energy at the start but the stamina is slowly fading already. True, it seems Donaire does not have the tank to fuel him to last for the whole 12 rounds, we have seen how washed out he is in the later round of the match before it was stopped.

As a Filipino fan, I love how Donaire done it on the first few rounds. I really thought he can pull off another win but it seems not unlike pacman whose old but can really hold his gloves on a fight but Donaire did was the opposite.

I hate to say it but I think its time for him to fully rest and retire even though he gave Masuda a good fight. Just like you said he already shown he can still be formidable, but our body has limit and the last rounds shown that. For the younger player it seems this is ome of the greatest win he had cause surely this will add to his popularity as beating Donaire is one hell of a feat.

That’s really normal since he’s already aged, and at his age he should probably be in retirement already, yet he still continues to fight just to entertain us.

Before that fight, many of us still believed that Donaire still had it. But after that fight, it became clear that he will probably no longer become a champion again, so I agree with the people here saying that he should already retire. I have not watch the interview after the fight but even if he says he will still continue people will no longer believe that he could still bounce back.

I don't agree with Casimero's assessment of Donaire's fight. He showed a far better performance than Sultan, who only lasted round one against Masuda, and Sultan happened to be the guy who beat Casimero in his younger days, in fact there was a time that Masuda almost went down because of Donaire's attack, too bad that Nonito could not sustain it.

Good, I do agree that he is a fure HOF. No need to damage himself and his career. His best option now is to rest and think it over with Rachel and his family members. If he decided to retire then we will understand that. If he is younger then Donaire could have scored a knockdown, but he is not in his prime anymore. We can still remember though his first fight that really put his name, against Darchinyan which he beat twice. And then after that, winning belts against many great boxers and knocking them down with his left hook. But now his power has decline as he age.

He is a future HOF, which means he is not trash. Just because he said it doesn’t mean Donaire is really trash or that we should believe him. To still be in the ring at his age requires strong discipline, that alone shows he is not trash. He can say Donaire’s age is catching up and that it’s time for him to retire, not call him trash. This kind of talk is something they should already be used to. Boxing is not for soft emotions, once you step in there you’re already a warrior. So whatever is said against you, you just have to take it. And honestly Donaire didn’t really look good in that loss, so he has to accept that as well.

I’m sure outside boxing they are still friends, that’s just how it is as that's what makes boxing exciting, those words..
