I paid a visit to a friend of mine and in the middle of our jokes and conversations, my friend’s son asked me recently whether it was good for him to gamble as he see his dad gambling and I quickly said to him, No. Children are not allowed to gamble ethically, morally, religiously and legally and if any child is caught gambling, he will be punished by law and the punishment can take him to the army’s barracks and I saw him looking at me with a sad face expression and disappointment and not so much fear.

You just reminded me of how our uncles and aunties used to scare us about doing something wrong when we were young. They will tell you that there is abig snake inside a place because they dont want us to go there.

Gambling is an adult activity but why happens when it is done openly in front of children like my friend does? Whether you see it as a casual game of cards or a trip to the casino, some parents or guardians will not realize the potential long term effects and consequences on their kids. Exposing these kids to such risky behavior can create an unhealthy relationship with money for them and shape their mindset about gambling. My children don't know that I gamble. They have never seen me do it because I don't want to be the one who introduces it to them. If they get to gambling age and decide to do it, I will tell them the consequences of gambling. Children learn more from what you do than what you say. Never expose an underaged child to gambling.

Since you were with you friend when this question came up from his son, what did your friend said? I'm interested to know his responses regarding the question his son was asking. I have said it before that parents have a lot of roll to play in making their kid's future better, the kids learn a lot from them while at home, some parents don't really care about this because they just feel that "after all he or she is a kid and doesn't know anything yet." They don't know that they are the first teacher of those kids.

To positively influence the future generation with strong character, it is a major obligation to act as a moral role model to the upcoming generation. They will be prepared to counter some of the harsh realities of the outside world by the maturity in right and wrong decisions.

Depending on how you behave when gambling is the effect to the children. If you just do it so casual I believe children will not even interested on what you are doing but if you mock or cuss while playing then it’s a different story.

I don’t advice to gamble in public space because it’s hard to hide our emotions when gambling and that’s the danger when you are with other people.

Gambling is for entertainment purposes and it’s better to spend your time with your children to have fun rather than gamble in front of them.

Each parent is different on how they would be handling up their kids whether they would be guided on the right way or just that simply dont care at all on what would happen to them as long you are doing the things that you do want, not minding that you are already a parent and just that dont care whether your kids would see it or not. It all matters about on how responsible you are as a parent and if your friend do let or allow on seeing his kids while he gamblers then its his take and own way of parenting on which becoming that open but we do know that it would be that making an impact into its kids on which it would be ending up on becoming a gambler too in the end of the day and that would be resulting into possible addiction and could lead up into those problems later on and he would be that ending up on having those regrets basing up on what he had done.

There’s a high possibility they will pick it up. Gambling is also part of our culture, so seeing kids engage in local gambling activities isn’t that surprising. We used to have what we call perya, where even grade schoolers were allowed to place bets along with adults before. My father played lotteries in front of me, and today I play lotteries too. In my country playing national lotteries is something cultural, and in my case I (think that I) haven't developed bad habits related to gambling because of that experience from my childhood. I think we wont know what real effect does gambling in front of children would do. Nobody would dare to run such test. Nobody would run this test for many years to find out what if what we had or will have is long lasting effect or one time effect. You don't need to do much analysis to know this, since there are many ways to verify that our parents influenced our lives, both positively and negatively. So, strictly exploring how children are influenced in games isn't necessary, since as adults, we know what would happen. Although, I do have friends who own gambling businesses, and I saw their children grow up in that environment, and guess what? Even with their adult children, they followed the same path. So, yes, parents influence their children in both good and bad ways.

That is true though my child has seen me playing and she is 5 years old, she cannot associate my playing slots with money, she plays in her tablet games where she says she needs to pass this level and become better. Of course I used to play in front of her and now I almost never do and when I play I do so while she is asleep. I don't want to set a bad example for her in life and then see her make wrong choices influenced by what I showed her, even if done unintentionally. It is better to never play in front of kids or if you cannot stay without playing then use your phone and change page as soon as your child comes near you.

I remembered when I was working on province fee years back, in a far island where peoples live are simple and you only see them with very few entertainment since I work on field and weve got a rented house there during our stay we got to used to people lives there and also join them sometimes. They like to play gambling cards or tongits (called in our place) when we are playing thst with others some old ladies brought their small children watchings us while gambling their literally children seeing what are we doing. A person needs to mature and understand many things, so it's best to teach them during adolescence. However, even explaining many aspects of gambling can be completely unhelpful and can even be harmful. This is a difficult question, as everyone will perceive the game differently. Some won't want to hear anything because they're convinced they're doing everything right, while others will test themselves by sinking deeper and deeper into losses until they realize they owe their neighbors and friends. Gambling is an extremely dangerous place, and there needs to be a clear understanding of how long we can continue and what losses we can afford.
