Effects of Gambling in Front of Our Children, What Are We Teaching Them?

If others are doing does not mean I must also join them doing what is wrong, because as for me, am not going to gamble in front of my children, not even when they are so young and needed to learn other things than gambling, I will also be mindful of where they go and thinks they see, we must meet some restrictions to what they should not use or have access to, while I'm open to let them have fun and enjoy every moment of their childhood.

There is no anything that justify doing an activity that is for 18 years old to be done in front of children. I don't want to go towards "not safe for work" discussion but I think anyone that see gambling as normal thing to children can do any other activities that are meant for above 18 years old children and that's not good. If it's bad, let's condemn it that it's bad and if it's wrong let make it to be wrong so children can get that perception of what is right and wrong.

It wouldn't be funny if a child grow up and knows nothing about life than gambling. There are many things about life to explore than gambling, even if they win it still doesn't justify that gambling should be done by children of below certain age. You have to make sure that they are of age before they are allow to bet or gamble online. If they have a mobile tablets with internet, disabled anything related to bet from their phones.

Parents who gamble in front of their children are preparing them for the worst case financial situation. It is not ideal for parents to allow their children to even have so much access to money, talk more of them having the means to go into a casino to bet on a game. Kids are easily attracted to what the adult does, so whatever will affect your kid from a tender age should be avoided by all means because when you’re away, they’ll also want to try it and will think it is a normal thing.

We should picture this type of situation as a case study of a child that is exposed to drugs from young age through the public intake of such drugs from adults or parents in fromt of the children. They see it as normal thing beyond just them inhaling smokes that can be harmful to them at young age, but will also go the extent of wanting to try it also, whether to inhale or take it also. These also encompasses taking alcohol in front of your children, those are bad habits kids are not supposed to be exposed to at young age.

Gambling in the presence of children is entirely bad in its totality and that's is a very bad way of training up a child besides gambling is highly prohibited for minors that are underage 🔞 most of the bad attitudes and characters our children portrays is as a result of the carelessness of their parents because tell me why will your friend be gambling in front of his kids and as an adult he knows quite alright that what he is doing is very bad in the presence of his children, when they grow up to be addicted to gambling he will be looking for who to blame, children are very sensitive to learn anything they see while they are with their parents so parents should be mindful of what they do in their presence.

I saw comments of people saying that there's nothing bad for parents to gamble before their children so long they gamble responsibly and talks good about gambling to the children, now let me ask, if as a father you gamble responsibly and talks good about gambling to your children, what are you teaching them and how sure are you that when they grow up and begin to gamble they will gamble responsibly as their father did? Gambling has a negative effect on adults and we shouldn't teach our children to gamble at all cost nor gamble in their presence as it will leave a negative effect on them as they grow up.

If we are to look at things from a good line, some parents are not matured enough to take care of the children and save them from the danger which they should be protected from, gambling in front of a child is almost the same thing as asking them to do the same thing until they are grown up to know the difference they always want to repeat what someone else is doing, every activity which is meant for adults should not be carried out in front of children, they learn easily and what ever they learn in early age is hard to get it off their brain easily.

The point you made is valid, some parents are just unbelievable. You would see some parents do careless things in front of their children knowing fully well that, 60 to 70 percent of what children learns while growing up  come from their parents.

Gambling itself is not bad, but gambling in front of your children is just inappropriate. Because it's just as good as telling them to gambling when they grow up, as in you are indirectly passing that message to them. and when they grow up, they would refers to it that my dad is use to gambling so I will also gamble.

Parents should know things that they are supposed to do in front of their children, and things they should avoid  doing in front of them, so that the mind of their children's won't get influence negatively.  Because the way you bring up your children that is the way they will grow.

Children are good copy cats, everything around them becomes what they favours too, this is why the company you find a kid is can be traced back to where they are raised.

If you don't want your kids to be a smoker do not smoke, and also keep them away from smokers environment, this applies to drinking and also gambling.

The funny thing is that gambling is more cruel for kids than others, it messed up their minds quickly and it will be tougher to correct, if a kid is already exposed to gambling the only option left is to guide them right, trying to force them to stop is impossible.

Read my post few pages before. Children are copy cats, but they dont copy parents completely. In your example, why then a kid starts to smoke if nobody in his family smoked before or ever? Why dont kids copy parents behavior and go to work? Why parents have to ask, force and demand to do certain things? Why dont those copy cats eat vegetables like adults but instead eat junk food? Maybe because they are not so copy cats after all?

You can gamble in front of them, but you dont have do it all the time. If you do that once or twice a month, they wont even pay attention or remember what you were doing.

It is very dangerous to allow your children to know about gambling because whatever they see people mainly their parents doing, they will want to praticalise it, children are not supposed to be exposed to gambling at a tender age but rather focus on their studies or children activities.

Parents should be guided on what they do in the presence of their children, so parents don't even care about the psychological effect it will have on the children as they grow, forgetting that they are setting a wrong foundation for the children to build on.

As parents, it is literally unethical to expose gambling to your kids at a tender age when they are very vulnerable to adopting any habits within their environment. And it is also not wise if you have exposed your kids to gambling, to not educate more on its positive and negative side effects of it, and if possible, more on the negative side effects, so as to discourage them untill they gets to the legal age to gamble, which is probably 18years and above in some countries, while others 16years. Because children are always the most vulnerable to gambling addiction, simply because majority of them have little or no knowledge about the risks involved when getting into it. But only years later that the majority gets to know the risk that was involved. Hence, a more reason why children should be prevented from gambling until they are legally of age and have the right knowledge.

Children depends on their age, there is definitely a certain age that a child would get to, he or she can already be able to read on their own and understand perfectly well what you doing on your phone or laptop without asking you any questions or being told by you.. When the child reaches this age which I believe should start from 6 and above (depending on how intelligent the child is), it is no longer proper for they parents to be gambling in front of such kid or child actually.

But when a child is still a child like below the age of 5, I do not think they understand anything about gambling, at this age, they can not read yet and if gambling in their front, they will simply assume it's a normal game and may even want to play the game too especially if it's slot game you are playing, children love those slot game sounds naturally..
So this is what I think, but on the other hand, it's not bad to keep children off from gambling generally not minding their age, parents who have many children that cant gamble in the day without a child coming around can shift all their gambling activities to the night when the kids must have fallen asleep.

However, once they reach adulthood, parents can no longer monitor their children, so they will learn about the world on their own. That above-mentioned phrase tells us a lot of things regarding the welfare of a child. If your children are raised in an environment which is not conducive for general welfare and morals, then it would affect their growth and learning capabilities. It would also mean that what they see would be the norm- a child exposed to early gambling would most often than not end-up a gambler him/herself.

You can teach children about the risk-reward consequences but not gambling. While risk may be associated with gambling, not all risk can be attributed to gambling perse.

Gambling is a whole entirely category that children should be avoiding at the very least. It openly tells you the risks of money and that false sense of security of that money can give you.
