I have been meaning to ask this question. In a situation where you had to write down a will and you have three male children, two of whom are very rebellious, stubborn and irresponsible and one who is responsible and obedient. How will you intend to share your inheritance particularly when it comes to valuable assets such as bitcoin.
Are you just going to leave everything to the obedient and responsible child who knows the value of what you are giving to him and can better manage the resources, with the knowledge that the other ones will only mismanage the funds and waste it on unnecessary expenses or are you going to just ignore all of these things and share it among them equally as they are all meant to get an equal shares?

This situation is a common concern for many parents..However, I will not make a will based solely on emotion or personal satisfaction. I will consider the long term reality and fairness. However, I think that giving all the assets to one child completely can cause family conflict in the future. Again, if any of the children do not understand the value of the assets, then dividing them equally can be a kind of risk. So thinking about a middle ground between these two issues can be the real solution.

Since you mentioned the issue of digital assets like Bitcoin. In that case, it would not be bad to have clear instructions in the will. What I really want to say is that it is a matter of trustees. To arrange for access after meeting certain time and conditions under the supervision of a trusted third party. In this, the responsible child will be able to lead in managing the assets. Again, others will not be deprived of their fair share.

Oh wow what a nice question being asked, I don’t actually know it all. But here are some of my own great opinion that can help out. As a Bitcoin father you find out that this one of the hardest part of decisions to take, this because you aren’t leaving just Naira or Dollars behind but rather you are leaving behind with you a Digital Gold that if not well managed by the right hand, it will just look as if you!! giving out your Bitcoin to them is like throwing it away into the ocean, which will be lost forever.

What am I saying, In my own very own vie,  for things to work out well, i will advise that a proof of work is being done. This will be done in the sense that each and everyone of them as to know the value of what they are goging to be holding. This people are going to equally know how hardware wallets works, knowing the do and don't and also how Self Custody are being handled and operated well.

That not all if I be the one, am going to also set a condition. Which will be in other for one to receive share's, you have to pass a security test and also show in your own Cold Storage setup.

Lastly one can come in with a Multi Sig Safety Net. where the key won’t be pass out to one person directly but three different people. Which one of the key will go to child, one stay with a trusted family lawyer or technical executors then the last one can stay with the obedient child with all this, the money can’t be mis managed by the stubborn ones, but rather they all have to sign in all and agree before any transaction can be approved. So therefore with this few point of mine, they won’t be raise for alarm when Gone.

As long as they are your children, they will still worth to be given part of your inheritance. If you give only one person among them all the inheritance, it will be partial. Parents do also think of how useful children are to them when they are still alive. There are stubborn children that are still very useful but just that they have a stubborn nature. Children can not be the same.

If planning a will, the main issue is responsibility and long term preservation of the assets. When the inheritance is about something valuable such like Bitcoin, to give everything equally can not protect it's worth always when some heirs are likely to squander it very fast.

An approach that is balanced can be to still recognize all the children yet structure it smartly. For instance, the child that is responsible could receive a larger portion or be made the manager or the trustee of the assets, then the others can be given smaller parts of access that is controlled over time.

The purpose of inheritance planning is not just about fairness but equally stewardship, making sure that what you built is well preserved and used wisely instead of lost through poor decisions.

I think that children should be educated about every subject in such a way that after making a will, they are not suddenly introduced to anything new. If we introduce our children to something new all of a sudden. Then we have to remember that they will make mistakes in the beginning. None of us is above mistakes.

If we give the responsibility of wealth to one child, it can increase the opposition of other children. It can destroy unity.

I will start teaching my children to save wealth properly from a young age. And I will start doing small tasks with them. In this way, they will easily understand how to save wealth. And I will encourage them to invest in Bitcoin. So that later I can divide my savings equally among them. And they can save it properly.

We all we given free will by God , so why should I be the one to take it away from my children. Thus means I will shared my inheritance for all of them because they are all my children, and whomever values the inheritance will increase it and have a better life for their self and for does that don't value the inheritance, they are free to do whatever the fuck they want. If they blow the inheritance on nonsense then they will have themselves to blame not me.

In a situation like this, it is good to separate the inheritance into different wallets, with a specific amount in each wallet according to the number of kids you have. You dont have to choose which is worthy to receive an inheritance in Bitcoin, unless that's the same decision you will make if there is no Bitcoin involved.
At times, it might be the most stubborn child who will, in turn, handle the Bitcoin portfolio properly, if he is smart and aware of how Bitcoin works more than the others.

I don't know when exactly death will call but at the same time, I don't want to be leave a life that I can't predict. I live life that I make sure there is tomorrow for me but if eventually I found myself at that age that death will call me soon, I don't think I will hold Bitcoin to the stage of inheritance for my children assuming I have children like you said are rebellious. I don't want to die and not have peace in my grave while they fight for something they didn't know it's worth, I will liquidate my asset and settle everyone before I disappear.

I would like to chip in an unpopular opinion, just because your kids are rebellious and don't follow instructions doesn't mean you have to stop them from having access to part of your wealth. As a father, you brought them to this life, they didn't beg you but you willingly brought them up, it's your responsibility to be there for all even if they are not the same. Don't expect all your kids to behave in the same manner. All kinds are not the same and can never share the same character.

We are supposed to show our children unconditional love because they are our children and we are the ones who brought them into this world. Remember that story in the bible about the prodigal son who left with his own share if his father's wealth, when he finished embezzling all the wealth he came back and his father forgave him.

You are supposed to love all your children equally but some of them that obeys you will have special places in your heart. The wealth is yours and you can decide what each of your beneficiaries will get so you can decide to give some of them more inheritance than the others.

They all came from the same womb, you raised them, if your child is stubborn, who should be blamed? You of course, and that doesn't mean you shouldn't share your properties equally among them. He deserves a fair share, you are his father after all, as the saying goes, there is no water were stubborn or bad kids are thrown into. This is a solid post, and this is to encourage us to raise our kids well, to that we won't be debating about topics like this, your kids will represent you when you are alive or dead. People will always address them as are you the son of so so and so? You know what that means right, if your child doesn't have a decent attitude in the society, the insult also comes to you. These days we leave the teachers in the school to teach your kids everything, no, they do the school teachings which is basically about education, but you as a father or mother should teach your children some manners and how to behave in the society when you are there or not. Peace ✌️

As a father or a guardian you can only do your best towards giving your child the best possible training for them to grow with, it’s not every parent that’s responsible for the bad attitudes of their children. Some kids are naturally stubborn and no matter how hard the parent tries to give the child the best training they can, at the end of the day whoever that will turn out to be good will always be good weather the child receives a good training from his parents or not. Sometimes peer pressure can also have influence in the turn out of attitude of children. That been said, as a father with a bitcoin inheritance, and you are also aware of the kind of children you have, in order not to cause further problems in the family probably when you’re no more, it will be wise you share your inheritance accordingly to both of your children no matter how stubborn or good anyone of them is.

This is a very challenging situation but I've watched in movies how situations like these are best handled and one of the ways is to have an active will with the lawyer and in one of the movies I watched, titled "CHIEF DADDY" don't know if I still remember the name correctly but it's something close to that, what the deceased did was first to gather all his children even though most of them never knew themselves and made sure all the children were present during the reading of the will and after the will was read, and the sharing was done, there were still a very strict condition attached to everything that was willed and one of the condition was that everything willed to them must have to be earned which means they have to work for those things even if it seems guaranteed, they still have to earn it and I don't know how all those things works since I'm not a legal practitioner but I think that was a good one and those who are lawyers in the house can help give better advise on this so we can all learn

Thanks

You can not be too sentimental with your children regardless the difference in their personality and strength that they carry. in giving out things to your children, as long as they are yours, it is necessary that what you give to one still goes to the other regardless of what they might decide to do with it. if after giving it to them the rebellious one decides to throw it all away, then you let him be while accepting the fact that you have done your own part.

Chances are high that though you are enthusiastic about bitcoin that you children might not be that concerned about it. even with that, you still should treat them in the right way or they develop serious hate towards one another.

I don’t know about other religion, but according to my religion, inheritance should be shared equally to the male children, you can’t share your inheritance because one of them is stubborn or irresponsible, as long as they are you are your blood they have the same rights to your inheritance, inheritance is not given by what the children are doing, after a parent is die, the inheritance will be share equally and no one will ask them to bring it or collect anything from them, the only way the inheritance will not be given to the children immediately is if children are not mature enough take care of their responsibilities.

In my religion, we don’t differentiate our children, they should be treated equally even if they are not acting in the same way. Children can never be the same, no matter how much you protect them and care for them, they will not be the same, who knows, maybe the ones you see as irresponsible or stubborn are the ones that will one day make you proud.

Should Bitcoin Inheritance Be Share Among Your Obedient Child and Stubborn Ones Whether to share Bitcoin equally between obedient and stubborn children depends on your goals, but giving equal shares directly can risk losing the asset if a child is irresponsible. A smart approach protects the digital wealth using legal and technical controls rather than an unconditional split for example the smarter you are bitcoin  we be easy for you to understand trust me bitcoin is real

I thought OP said stubborn, if the child is stubborn I will give him his share of the will to his name, after all he is still my child but if the child is an irresponsible child, does not want to work, does not want to show that he can be on his own, then he is not going to have the shares because such person immediately you gave him the share, he is going to sell it in the market and squander the money immediately, you can't entrust things to such people like will.

However, before I will make conclusion, as parent I will try my best first. I will do everything in my hand to make sure he changes. The reason why I'm saying this is that some parents don't try for their children, when they see their kids with some behavior, they conclude that the child is not doing things right so they assumed the child is doing wrong and instead of correcting them in possible ways, they give up on them. That's not the best way to put a child in a good way.

Parents do also think of how useful children are to them when they are still alive. There are stubborn children that are still very useful but just that they have a stubborn nature. You're right, the fairness in all is very important especially since all of them are your blood. It doesn't really matter if any of them are stubborn or not, responsible or irresponsible what matters is how they can stay in peace even when you are no more. However, any attempt of setting up any differences between them through your sharing formula can trigger hatred between them and make them to start fighting each when you have finally meet up with your maker ( death).  Therefore , the best you can do as a father is to share equally amoung them, any of them that want to be useful with it should do what he damn like and will hold nobody responsible for his short comings.

Parents doesn't disinherit their children because of stubbornness or bad character because they would always make sure that all their children get some of the assets they have, although in some cases while the parents are alive they would find a wife for those children that are irresponsible and put a condition that would make them to change before they can access the money they have on the will, but however when it comes to the assets that Bitcoin is involved they should will all to the responsible child because is under his care that those Bitcoin will be safe, because what fits the irresponsible ones are the physical assets.

I agree with you, children can't be the same. Each child has their own character and no be every children dey good finish. Do not judge the book by the cover, have seen a case that after everything the child that they criticised being stubborn was the same child that ended up making the whole family proud. As a father whether bad or good they're all your children, they carry your DNA, so the inheritance will be shared equally among them. And let's stop this favouritism of one child over the rest because at the end of the day it destroys homes and the children will end up hating one another.

They are all my children, I do not think I will deprive any of them anything just because some of them are rebellious and stubborn, whether it is Bitcoin asset or any other asset I will share it equal so that if any of them decides to useless theirs in the future or anytime, that will be a personal burden on onself, I understand what it means for people to be excluded from what they are supposed to be part of, we are talking about will here, unless I decide to give the stubborn ones something that is worth the Bitcoin asset I gave the the cool headed one to balance everything, if I can't handle it that way, it means that, I will have to share it equal because I do not want anything that will bring any problem in my family when I'm no more here, and everything has to be legally documented to avoid any problem coming up later.
