Obviously there are. I am thinking that huge majority of lottery jackpot winners are in profit as well, even though there's this persistent belief that they will eventually will lose all their money. There's studies that disprove that belief.

Yea, in this situation I won't advise the person to go check his bet history because it can actually cause trauma due to the loss they have incurred and there are some that will check their history they will be moved to chase their loss and by doing this you are lighting another fire on your head because it will so burn the person as winning is not guarantee. If I want to talk about myself, I have a big story about gambling, when I first started gambling, I won a good amount with small bets and I enjoyed it with that money and I also fulfilled my hobby. But if they can respond to it casually they will not be depressed, considering that the history of losing is self-verified where we must be aware of their gambling situation, this can improve risk management and not be tied to profit and loss because gambling needs to be considered as an entertainment activity only, gambling is not a business that must always be profitable when playing / betting on it.
I doubt there are people who can make a profit in their gambling journey in a matter of years, especially those who do it quite often, maybe if you only gamble a few times and bet on sports betting and rely on superior teams it's possible, but for those who gamble on slot games I think it's hard to get.
