Everyone has a purpose while they are gambling. The ones whose purposes are hardly reached are those who want to level up their life using gambling winnings. My own purpose for gambling is simple: to experience what the game offers and then risk a few dollars and hope I can also be rewarded a few dollars in return. I don't have that dream of building my dream home or buying my dream car using gambling; that's very delusional.

Hoping to make money from gambling is normal for gamblers, because every gambler certainly wants to make money from gambling. But gambling is not the only way to earn an income. Many gamblers also work, and they fund their gambling from their earnings. Of course, not for fun because they also want to make money from gambling. 
I myself do not have a target in gambling. I just bet on what I enjoy, and if I am lucky, it makes it an even greater pleasure.

It is very simple, if someone sees gambling as a way of earning income and the person will begin to lose than usual. Later if care is not taking, the person can advanced into a chronic gambling addiction which is not good at all.

I disagree with the thesis: the only way to make money for many is more of an attempt at additional income, but certainly not a primary one. As for my position, yes, there is a financial component, of course. I also want games to bring me income, even if not a large one. But I don't spend a lot of time on this watching a match once a week, and betting on a game is more of a hobby than a dream of profit.

The purpose of gambling depends on the mentality of the gamblers and their financial circumstances. Some gamble to make money from the beginning. Some start gambling for entertainment but due to lack of control their losses keep increasing and they continue gambling to make money or to recover money.

I gamble for entertainment and more entertainment is added to it by winning. In fact, I have a fixed budget allocated for gambling and I refrain from going beyond this budget. If the winning amount is high through this fixed amount of funds, I am tempted to gamble for more time. But if the loss amount is high and the budget allocation is out of the allocation, I take a break from gamble.

Altimately, winning is the driving force of brain behind gambling but different people will still give different reasons why they are still gambling even though they've lost quite a couple of time and the reason for it is that at a certain point in time, it goes beyond just playing for the sake of the win. Sometimes, you're going to consider that you've played to a point that you've become a part of the system and so, it's now more of a routine and not just that you're chasing after a particular end goal of winning.

I actually don't care what everyone around me thinks about gambling but honestly when I first started gambling I thought that I can use it as a main source of income since I thought a simple martingale would do the trick but as the time goes by, I realized that it wasn't design for a player to win in long term and after that I accepted that it's really not a good source of income because the risk is high. So instead, I just set a allowance weekly and use that to enjoy sports betting match on weekends and at the same time, trying to win a small amount.

However most gamblers have the idea of winning jackpots and big lotteries while gambling which is realistically going to be less in number if everyone wants the same.

One might have some short term goal like building a new house but that too depends on your luck if you are winning or not, you might end up having to mortgage your existing house to pay off debts instead of getting the money to buy a new one.

This is sad to see if this is true. Gambling was intended for entertainment purposes but new generation that was attracted to gambling due to marketing schemes by influencers that hype gambling and promise wealth is the main culprit for this dumb ideology.

I gambling just for without any main objective to use it as source of income. I gamble only whenever I like and mostly when I have free time.

That's about having fun as we gamble and if we are winning with our bets, then that's a good result which adds to the fun that we're looking for.

I am from the group of people who see gambling as a form of entertainment alone.
I think we shouldn't gamble to make an income because its not sustainable in the long run.
The outcome is unpredictable which is why we should not rely on it for our survival.

The targets of gamblers are rarely the same because motivation shapes behavior from the beginning some enter with income expectations others enter with entertainment intentions and a smaller group move between both depending on outcomes. When gambling becomes positioned as income the target shifts toward profit maximization that mindset increases pressure stake size and emotional attachment to results once survival or financial improvement becomes the objective discipline usually weakens because urgency replaces patience. For those who treat gambling as entertainment the target is experience not profit the money becomes the cost of participation similar to paying for a movie or event in that structure risk is predefined and losses are acceptable within limits.

My purpose in gambling was to make profit. I saw this as an opportunity to maximize my Bitcoin earnings. I did have this belief in the past, and it was only through my personal experience that I realized how wrong I was, so I could never rely on gambling for mean to maximize my earnings.

Once I reached that conclusion, gambling stopped being attractive to me, because I couldn't achieve what I was looking for through it. I'm not someone who have money to afford losing in gambling. Therefore, I'm not included on the category of people who could give themselves the luxury of gambling.

Personally, I believe it's a kind of activity which should be embraced only by wealthy individuals who have already reached a point in life money isn't a struggle for them anymore.

My initial purpose was actually to try to make money, but when I tried to force it, it went the wrong way. That's when I realized that there's no winning in gambling, especially in games like slots and casino games.

I think many gamblers have that same target, but some would realize that it is not going well, so either they quit or just relax and let gambling entertain them by just playing a bit of their money and then move on quickly after losing it. That means, to simply have fun.
Having control is tough to do, but it can be done. There will be a point when it gets boring, and you will end up just playing maybe an hour or two, and then try again the next day or next week.
