Is this forum dead? ALL the posts I see seem to be from people with banners in their signatures and info block, trying to earn some Ad money?
I remember a few years ago this was a vibrant place, what the hell happened?
Forum is not a good format for conversations anymore? Everybody left for reddit? Quite the contrary in my opinion as I feel like this forum is alive and flourishing. New operators and projects popping up regularly with more and more new members registering. I've been here since 2013 (can't believe it's been that long) so I've seen how much more vibrant it has become.

Forum can never die more projects are coming up and more discussions are also been established by the forum users...those events that were making forum active during the time forum was established, most of the activities are increasing...the only different is that the people who started forum earlier, most of them are no longer active in the forum and most of them is retiring voluntarily..And more people are registering almost every day....So people that asked if forum is dead, i found out that the reason why they asked, is because forum is not favourable to them, through merits....I observed that if some users is no longer earning merit or if wants to earn a merit they will began to ask a silly questions...

It's not dead, although a person could say that plebs like us are merely here for "Ad Money", or even say that there are groups of people "farming" the forum. But the forum is still alive with some good people who still share a good amount of information. Many of them are generally in Technical and Development though, and some are scattered in different parts of BitcoinTalk. Plus don't hate the plebs like me who have banners in their signatures. We're not done stacking sats yet. When some of us stop having these banners, you probably could say that those sats are STACKED.

Reddit? How? I've had an account on Reddit since a few years ago but I'm inactive there. For me, that's just another X.
Allegedly, r/bitcoin is supposed to be a more serious place than Bitcointalk, but I'm not bashing r/bitcoin here. Still it's basically a meme zone and some discussion, like Bitcointalk minus the signature campaigns. And reddit wants to add age verification for everyone "to protect the children" (did those numbskulls forget that under-13s already cannot register?) so that place is actually in real danger of getting gutted as people flee it.

This topic is definitely not dead and we have a very interesting discussion lol Actually, there is a lot of quality and important information on this forum about various topics related to crypto, technology, projects, crypto payments, etc. For me, the information I found about paying crypto taxes, which even tax advisors or accountants did not know, was especially important. Personally, I think that the information from this forum, through Google search or through AI, helps many other people who are not registered on this forum and that the significance of this forum, as a "storehouse of valuable information and data" surpasses the current number of topics or activity on the forum. In general, on the Internet, we have been seeing a trend of declining interest in online forums and increasing interest in social networks for some time, but this forum has still not lost its significance and importance.

I wouldn't say the forum is dead like the op said, is just that nothing last forever people still post quality post but not as it used to be...we know but let's give the ones we see some credit because is not as easy as of then. The energy some persons put in back then is no longer there, something need to trigger some of us to get back to those old days. These days when you post or open a thread thinking it will cause traffic you'd later come back and see that the thread is just there waiting for people to say things and you that started the thread will feel disappointed because nobody has interest in saying anything about your work, is frustrating... I think that is why many find it hard to start up thread or make more research to get the best of post.

I don't know what rose colored glasses people look at past with, I vaguely remember ICO bounty campaigns and airdrops era (2017-'18) where it was absolute spam fest. Now, there are casino signatures and spam is limited to gambling discussion at worst — this is pov of others, I don't find it that spammy personally.

You registered just a few days ago, how can you talk about the past? You should have posted here with your main account LOL This forum has not died, rather the activity of the users has increased a lot, there are now several times more users here than before and everyone is actively posting. The banners you see here are the ones that the users have placed on their profiles, the forum itself is not promoting any kind of banner. This forum has now become a very popular forum due to which various types of companies are coming here to promote themselves because it is a potential place and everything is always fair here, no kind of scam and fraud is tolerated.

The forum cannot be dead when we are still actively interacting here. Just so you know, Bitcoin talk community awardwas just concluded and in that contest, a lot of people participated, sharing their experience in the forum and other vital information. You can't find such level of engagement in Reddit without being inundated by bots. This forum still remain one of the most active gathering of real human Bitcoin enthusiast that has not be overran by bots. A lot might have changed about the forum like many people have stated, but there is still great and interesting things happening in the forum which is the reason companies still consider here worthy of their marketing efforts.

We all contribute to this community in one way or another, some more, some less

As far as I know this forum remains the most important place for Bitcoin discussion and yes, things has changed and even in the old days there are also signature and banners displayed on people profile, it's better for you to locate the area you think that is best interested to you and put effort and read what they are talking over there. If you are interested about project development, then I wouldn't mind saying you should focused on that area to show your interest more than saying that the forum is Dead.

Maybe deeply technical discussions are still going somewhere, but I am not looking for that now. I've posted and read several different areas - my experience so far is that this forum is, indeed, dead. There are only zombies left.

Is there any other thing you are expecting apart from what you have seen so far? Are you looking at Bitcoin discussion? Then go to the Bitcoin section you would see all that you needed, as I know this is a community filled with several different of people and they must not be technically involved before they can join any discussion. There are people who are interested in politics, when you look at that area you would see them putting efforts on those angles, than involving themselves with what they don't know.

Promotions are honestly one of the more important parts of the forum, no matter how it looks. The forum is still alive, and like i said, i don't think it will ever really "die" I often see new people joining who stand for the right things and are eager to learn everything about Bitcoin. That's another clear sign that the forum is alive, and i genuinely like seeing new faces around

Definitely not dead. People have been clamoring after positions in signature campaigns for as long as I've been a member here, so that's nothing new at all. I don't even think post quality has gotten worse in the last decade; if anything, the merit system has cleaned up a ton of crapola that existed prior to 2018, including account farming, alt accounts abusing campaigns/bounties, and more. At least with the existence of signature campaigns (which I'm not a huge supporter of but am not blind to some of their benefits), conversations keep going and the good posters are incentivized to post (along with the shitposters, too, but with the help of some very dedicated members who report zero-value posts, the moderators do their best to keep a handle on that). Imagine bitcointalk without campaigns. I've had what I think is an accurate snapshot in my head for years now, and it's one depicting a near-dead discussion forum, very similar to many other forums related to crypto. So yeah, I hate to say it but all of that signature advertising is actually helping bitcointalk from being buried six feet under. Still, Bitcointalk has one big advantage — history and depth. A lot of valuable information and experienced people are still here. You just have to filter out the noise. Even with that, I highly doubt it would keep 75% of members from staying and posting regularly. The forum would probably lose far more than that if campaigns suddenly disappeared.

I wouldn’t say the forum is dead, but yeah — it definitely changed. Back in the day, most people were here for discussions, ideas, and learning. Now a big part of the activity is driven by signature campaigns, so naturally you see a lot of “paid posters” trying to meet their weekly quotas. That does affect the overall quality, no doubt. But if you dig a bit deeper, there are still good threads and knowledgeable users around — especially in technical sections or serious discussions. It’s just not as “lively” on the surface as it used to be. And yeah, platforms like Reddit, Twitter (X), and Discord took a big chunk of casual discussion traffic. Forums are slower by nature, and not everyone has the patience for that anymore. Still, Bitcointalk has one big advantage — history and depth. A lot of valuable information and experienced people are still here. You just have to filter out the noise. Of course the forum has changed, everything changes with time and 17 years is a long time for the Internet. In the beginning, bitcoin was something new and revolutionary for all members and everyone was inspired because they were part of a new vision and this was the only place where btc could be discussed. In the meantime, a lot has changed. Almost everyone has already heard of btc and crypto, so it is no longer news and btc is discussed everywhere, so this forum is no longer an exclusive place for these discussions. On the other hand, young people are using internet forums less and less and more social networks and AI for all the questions that interest them. Signature campaigns have helped maintain interest in this forum in the long term, which is not a bad thing, although sometimes at the expense of the quality of the discussions.

This your last paragraph carries the main point. I have always seen this forum tilting towards history source than a viral social media. I also believe that theymos is aware of this vision and he is bend to maintaining it. A time will come in the history when people will be forced back here to see how things worked in the pass; How Satoshi started it all; How the I am Hodling effect came; Where Ethereum started; The old interface and learn while the forum is still striving while some similar ones are dead or disappeared. I agree with you that there are still bitcoin pros and developers here but we shouldn't fail to acknowledge that many already left, which of course is expected.

Are you interested in making some ad money too?if you are then you wouldn’t have asked a question like this because they’re better ways to start earning some ad money instead of being sarcastic in your post.Anyways,I didn’t join the forum during it’s earlier periods of time so I don’t have any idea about how vibrant the forum was back then, but in my own point of view I don’t see the forum dead in any way.Have you searched for a crypto related thread that you couldn’t find?the forum is still a good format for conversation, you could join those people that left the forum for Reddit if you wish.

I've posted and read several different areas - my experience so far is that this forum is, indeed, dead. There are only zombies left.
Did the forum take down your main account? Because this seem like you have been triggered and no one agrees with your perspective or perception or any kind of defense and it seem like everyone following the same perspective is now the death of the forum or the zombification (if such word ever existed) of the forum? Well, the forum can be dead and alive it depends on who is saying that! It could be dead to you but just born forum someone else and a growing community for others.
