Has this ongoing war changed your perspective on how you gamble?

I am not from the Middle East but I see their lives there keep going on as if it's normal but of course with carefulness.

If it's with gambling, it won't be their main concern to think of it as they don't want to gamble while some missiles could be heard over their roof.

The war is nowhere near my country, so it has no personal impact on my gambling life.

Even when countries are at war, normal and common citizens try to keep up with their life as normal as possible, that is what marks the difference between civilians and combatants.

If I had to guess, I would assume this war in the middle east would push people who gamble to redirect their resources to other things which are more important, like food, shelter and personal security. Gambling is in the end an activity which is supposed to be after all those vital elements to keep one's life going.

On the other hand, there could be military personnel that could take advantage of the situation in order to make money off prediction markets.

If world war comes, that money you want to save for "eventualities" will be almost worthless. The war even increased my appetite to gamble more because on the off chance that we do goto a world war, you can still make decent returns just gambling on markets that are heavily influenced by the war. Also, my country is currently not involved so its still gambling as usual for me.

Although significant opportunities are presented by capitalising on the market forces generated by political events taking place in the world, there is also the possibility of financial destruction in a short period of time. We must learn to live with durability on luck when a worldwide crisis strikes because most of the time this offers in the short term relief which cannot always be looked upon in later occasions. Although we may not have been affected yet, learning to be disciplined to restrict bets is important to the prevention of over-greed. It is an obvious method to choose an investment opportunity that will allow us to survive in any economic circumstances.

If the war is prolonged, the price of oil will increase, which will increase the price of everything, but even if the price increases, I don't think it will have any effect on my gambling. I will keep the same amount of money I put in bets even if there is a war. But if there is a big negative impact due to the war, then I will definitely have to rethink this matter. Because people have to manage their lives first, then something else. I think of gambling as a center of entertainment. That is why I will first try to save the money that will be spent on living and then gamble with the rest.

Yes, I think that it forces them to do the priorities they have to. And set aside gambling. So, that makes them more responsible as of this moment when it's really needed to be done.

Possible. Now I have remembered about the attack to Iran and someone has predicted it will happen and that's a lot of money that's been in stake with it.

It's pure intel in that kind of prediction market.

If the war gets extended to other countries the price of things will continue to increase not just the price of oil alone and people will be more careful of the things they do with your money because they do not know what the next news will be if their country will be affected in the long run, in terms of my gambling, it will be a bit reduced because once the war gets extended to different countries people will be looking for ways to survive so the attention will no longer be on making money but how to save ones life by looking for the nearest country to run to where the a4 has not reached.

It's strange that someone in the middle of a war would still be thinking about gambling. Normally, people stop gambling and focus on saving money and buying food because war reduces food supplies, causing prices to rise significantly. That's why people tend to save all the money they can to buy food, no matter how high the price.

People in wartime don't think about investments, they don't think about entertainment. They forget all that because they don't know how many days, months, or years they'll be alive. Here in my country, there have been wars, and there's still a war happening in another province. But I've seen war and its effects, and that's why I know that the first reaction of people experiencing war firsthand is to keep all their money close at hand; they want physical money, they don't invest, and they don't gamble.

First of.all, I don't gamble constantly but even as an occasional gambler I don't think the war has any effect on my gambling activities because I don't live in a country where the war has a direct impact or affects us in any way so this hasn't changed the way I see gambling. For those living in the middle East gambling is going to be the last thing on their mind at the moment because of the ongoing crisis.

Probably you will save your funds for personal use or for your family for future use. War affected areas have different impact on their daily necessities like foods, water, etc. so yes, you as a gambler will probably stop for the mean time. Well, only if you still have the right thinking and sense of survival.

It also happened with the attack on Venezuela back in January the 3th, there were some strange movements on money on Polymarket, which betted on the attack just a week before it happened.

Sadly, wars have become an opportunity for insider military personnel to profit from all their information, in detriment of people who try to analyze geopolitical scenarios with public information.

Anyways... I never expected prediction markets to be one hundred percent fair, but we cannot condone insiders and their deeds.
