Not to input your seed phrase again but to check where you kept it. But to login your wallet to know if your coins are saved.
Although there is no need to check repeatedly, I sometimes log in to my wallet with my wallet seed phrase and see if everything is okay. Maybe many people may find this system a lot of hassle but I don't find it a hassle I check it occasionally. I have written down my wallet seed phrase in my notebook so there is no chance of making a mistake but when I want to see the bitcoins held in my wallet then I log in and it doesn't seem like a hassle at all to me in fact it feels more secure to me because I can log in and be 100% sure that my wallet is safe.

I would say simply not. You don't need to check "once a while"... Roll Eyes
if your seed/phrases has been tested one time (how it should be initially) what should be the sense to test every...week/or month? it could change something?
the same tested words would stop to recover an address? ... imagine people using many address/chains/channel payments... no one could this to (and has not sense... coins are make to be stored not to be verified "once on a while").
login to wallet? Roll Eyes you can just sign an offline message and see if everything is working fine. nothing more nothing less.
I would avoid to use any key/seed in online machine for "verifying" whatever it is still working.

Yeah, just make sure you have the phrase or can recreate it somehow.

I don't think we need to regularly log in to our wallet, it can make us panic or obsess over it.
Maybe periodically checking where you saved it is fine, but IMO, twice a year is enough.  I know it's in a safe place and no one knows where I kept it.

All I can say is if you barely check your wallet phrase or log in, it's less stressful.
Frequent checks can make you rush into selling all your Bitcoin.  Continuous attention to small price moves can distract from long-term goals.

So, I think there's no reason to check your wallet frequently.  As long as you know your credentials are secure and safe, that's good enough.
You can check your wallet address occasionally to confirm your Bitcoin is still there.

You mean you need a seed phrase every time you want to check your balance? What wallet are you using?

Logically, how does a seed phrase change when it's manually written on the platform? I think you're worrying too much. If your seed phrase worked (before it was funded), it should be fine forever. Unless this worry stems from your inability to recognize your own writing style.
Your choice, your risk, at least that's what I'm trying to convey.

Each time you log in your wallet, and connect it to Internet for checking the wallet balance, it's one more risky time your wallet can be compromised. This practice is bad if it is for checking whether your bitcoins are still there in that wallet. You can check it with block explorers, more easily, and more secure for your fund.

You don't want to be hacked like this. Checking more times will cause more risk of hacks.

But if they were at least once a week or Month login to their wallets to check if everything is alright and also check the physical saved seed phrase is in good condition.
If the purpose of the monthly login is for updating the app/wallet software, I will agree with you, because anything aside from that could lead to the exposure of the wallet to danger that comes with humans error.
I believe it is better to monitor the wallet without logging in, and use multiple backups of the wallet seed phrase ( using offline storage like metal plates, and separate geographical locations).

As you said, it's up to each individual to take this advice or not, as each individual is responsible for their own assets. However, it's important to understand that, as some users have said, logging in too frequently can increase the security risk. So, it's best to avoid logging in too frequently --- and even if you do keep a backup of your seed phrase, it's best to choose a place you trust and that's secure, and use a secure medium like steel plates, to avoid having to check it too often and unwanted damage.

Nobody will force anyone. It is your coins, it is your seed phrase and it is your wallet. Keep it the way you want. But I just create this thread for reminder to everyone because of the stories we have heard from the internet and people close to us. Check where your phrase is. At least login to see if everything is alright. And don't use custodial wallets for long term investment. And don't keep your coins in exchange.

Login is more like for custodial wallets, exchange accounts.

If you want to mention about non custodial wallets, I don't see "login" is a proper term to use as it is confusing and can mislead people to think more about exchange accounts with custodial wallets.

With non custodial wallets, the action is open your wallets, there is nothing like login.

Even though the matter of logging in might sound different, (Agbe) was probably referring to checking inside the wallet. If you read his full post, you will understand that he advised against using exchanges and custodial wallets. In some cases, we have to use certain words or expressions in our writing and their full meaning only becomes clear after reading the whole context. I have only written what was necessary and there is no need to add anything more.

It's better to advice people to check on their recovery seed once in a while to make sure that it's in safe hands, I can remember when I wrote down a recovery seed and I never look back until months later.

Only to find out that water spilled on the book and the phrases are starting to fade already, the inks are washing off and it became extremely hard to figure out the words on my own, I had to start guessing what the words could be and this was how I figured it all out.

There is no reason to keep importing your seed phrases after few months just to check if it will work, seed phrases don't get expired, and while importing everytime you are taking a new risk especially if you move from one place to another.

There's no point logging in to your wallet every day to see if your coins are still there. Just don't connect your wallet to potential crypto drainers and be careful about what files you are downloading. Having a good anti-virus/anti-malware and some common sense is more than enough to keep your BTC protected. Somebody can figure out your seed phrase only after years of running a brute force software 24/7. And this doesn't guarantee that he will get your seed phrase combination and not somebody else's. I find it weird how some people are so paranoid about the crypto in their cold wallets, but they don't care that much about the fiat money in their bank accounts.

There are lot of stories coming to our ears and eyes to see about people misplacing their seed phrase and lost their bitcoins forever. But if they were at least once a week or Month login to their wallets to check if everything is alright and also check the physical saved seed phrase is in good condition. And if they could not found the physical saved seed phrase, but they can login to the wallets, they can take the seed phrase again from the login wallet and keep it in a saved place. And don't automatically abandon your wallet because you have saved it in a good place or object.  Always login to your wallet or whatever place your store your coins to see if they are okay. We have read stories and heard people lost their bitcoins in a careless way or over confident that they are saved because the seed phrase is saved.
Avoid using Custodial wallets/exchanges to keep your bitcoins, because you are not the controller of the seed phrase and the exchange account. Use non custodial wallets. And always ask questions when you don't know what to do.  I don't know why people are still losing Bitcoin in the cold hands of custodial wallets/exchanges. Only seed Bitcoin to exchange when you want to sell and not to keep bitcoin there. Always remember the slogan: "Not your key, not your coins".

Not to input your seed phrase again but to check where you kept it. But to login your wallet to know if your coins are saved.

I love this advice and it can only be given and taken seriously by those who are serious about holding their bitcoin for a long period of time. It is necessary to ask the right questions whenever you are left in confused state,  it is not rocket science and there are too many good teachers open to respond. Not your keys not your coin should be at our finger tips. But then, if you have it stored up in the right places you have nothing to worry the bitcoin system was not invented to harm the user.

I agree with this, but I think the most important part is not opening the wallet often, but making sure the backup is still readable and stored safely. Sometimes people feel safe because they wrote the seed phrase once, then after a few years, they discover the paper is damaged, lost or incomplete. Thats why checking your backup from time to time really matters. Also, its good to have more than one copy in different safe places, because accidents can happen anytime. A wallet can always be restored if the seed phrase is safe, but without it, the coins are basically gone.

I only agree with regularly checking where the seedphrase was kept to avoid coming back to this forum to say "hello, please I need help. I forgot where I stored my seedphrase...I thought it was on top of my roof, but it's no longer there. It's been 5 years since I last checked". Please check, it will cost nothing to check. I check mine too and the only intention is to be sure it is still in a good condition and not stolen. Sometimes if an error is spotted earlier, you can still save the situation instead of being in the dark all through thinking that your bitcoins are still very safe. Owning bitcoin comes with responsibilities.

I would avoid to use any key/seed in online machine for "verifyng" whatever it is still working.

It is not necessary that you input the seed phrase in the wallet but to check if it is in the place you kept it and the letters are alright. But as foe the wallet, it is good you check login to see your coins. I create this thread because of the stories heard and a comment I made from the gambling board.

Yes, it is good to check the place you kept your seed phrase to know if it’s okay, there was a story my friend was telling me some weeks ago he said the place he wrote his seed phrase was being affected by water because the roof of the place was open, and the water was penetrating inside the place if not that he checked it one particular day and then removed it from there and fixed the roof he would have lost his seed phrase so it is very important that we check where we wrote our seed phrase to see if everything is okay, I know a lot of people has lost their seed phrase because they didn’t know the place they kept it was being affected by something, so I agree we should be checking the place we kept them to ensure if it’s safe.

I usually log in once a week to check my payments, and after logging in, I log out, carefully noting my wallet's security phrase. However, I have written my wallet's seed phrase on a piece of paper and carefully stored it in a place where no outsiders can access it. However, I have written it on multiple pieces of paper and stored it in multiple locations so that if one piece of paper gets lost, I can retrieve it from another location. However, I think it's risky to install a wallet on my mobile and log in because if for some reason I lose my mobile phone, I log out after logging in to the wallet on my mobile to prevent anyone from accessing my wallet.

It's not a safe way to check your payments like whether it was sent and you received it or not because login your wallet, connect it to internet is unsafe. Your bitcoins can be stolen if your computers or phones are not clean.

Another way but safer to check payment is using block explorers and pasting your Bitcoin address that is used for receiving payment. You can easily check that address balance and transaction history and know about the payment (received or not received yet).

What's this step for?
Why did you need to note it down whenever you log in and log out your wallet?

I think it should be noted when you create your wallet security phrase (password?) as it is part of your wallet backups including wallet mnemonic seed phrase and wallet password. Surely if you have the wallet mnemonic seed phrase, you can import it and recover your wallet without wallet password.

One thing that can warrant someone to be checking where they have stored their seed phrase frequently is based on where they have stored it. For me, if it's securely kept in a different location, the only thing I can do is anytime I reach it is check if the place is still the same or if it has been tempered with because the more frequent one visit to check if it's secured the more likely it could get exposed.

Many people losses their Bitcoin because of carelessness not because Bitcoin failed them, some Bitcoin investors store their seed phrase without checking it regularly, they assume everything is safe, this has made many lose their Bitcoin entirely. To avoid all this problem,  you need to check where you store your seed phrase often and make sure it's still safe. once in awhile ensure you login into your wallet to be sure if your money is still there. Just because Bitcoin feels safe, doesn't mean we should be careless
