I think this is too radical a definition of intelligence. You can be generally smart and still lose most of your bets over the long term. This is normal, because the odds are against you, and betting is a game of chance. To win long-term bets, you need to be not just smart, but an intellectual monster with exceptional gambling skills. Being a smart bettor doesn’t necessarily mean you are making profit , many feels what make them best bettor is the winning that comes with it while many feels the experience they get from it , understanding the games and enjoying it can make one feel better, because you are getting entertainment value and you are aware that money is not coming from it , many will not see you as smart bettors because you are losing , despite the fun you are getting from it , but to me a smart bettor is someone who manage their expectations and at the same time prioritize their enjoyment.

For now, I consider myself a smart gambler, but by “smart” here, I mean more in the sense of being wise so the way I gamble is better than before, not that I win more often.

Besides, in my opinion, being smart in gambling makes more sense when we understand the true meaning of gambling. For example, if we place a bet and the result is a profit that we consider sufficient, we should withdraw it without hesitation. Then, if we lose, we shouldn’t dwell on it we should simply accept it and move on with our lives.

I think any player who has developed a certain discipline when it comes to betting, can call themselves a smart player. It’s not necessary that you will make big profits here, the most important thing in my opinion, is to play without losses. Even if these are small bets, you will still fully control the entire process. So my conclusion is that the main goal in betting is not to make money, but to avoid big losses.

No, I don't consider myself a smart bettor. 🙋 In fact, I have an idea of ​​what a smart gambler is, and it's not like me at all.

I don't think that the smart bettor who is really successful is the guy who absolutely emotionlessly makes a lot of bets, after which he waits with a cold heart for their execution.
He doesn't bother opening the betting app every minute to see the current score of the match. He looks at the result only at the end or doesn't rush it at all. He makes a lot of bets in order to spread his distance and maximize it. So he eliminates the luck factor as much as possible. And he let his skill show itself.

I don’t think any of the gamblers here are playing with the goal of making money in the long run, or that they’re playing solely for that purpose. Actually, what we’re focused on is just today’s games, how much money we’ll lose or win today. But for impractical gamblers, someone's success story is more than enough to get motivated and to continue their attempts. So, they keep trying just to copy those promotional stuns or once in millionth hit.

It's not really about winning bets cause all bettors depend on luck and the house would always be smarter since they have more edge. Being smart in gambling is about how do you manage your gambling activity, if you cant manage your gambling habit in a smart way then you will be likely fall into addiction or even worst bankrupcy.
Although gambling is mostly about luck, you should be smart gambler to minimize the possibility of being trapped on your own greed.
