Moneyline or Point Spread, what do you focus on more?

When it comes to sport betting from my previous years playing as there is a long time that I don't play anymore the best option for me was playing over and under while also sometimes going for Asian handicap. Most people focus much more than they should in money lines when that is the line that bookies by placing deceiving odds make a lot of money, most sport betting tickets are lost ones exactly because of this choice. This has been my experience which I hope can be insightful to some sport bettors here.

I place bets in different ways, it all depends on my mood and my confidence in a particular match or fight. However, bets on point differences are usually less risky than, for example, betting on a specific athlete or team to win.I don’t think anyone sticks to just one betting method all the time. It all depends on the competition. Sometimes, based on various indicators, we can estimate a likely outcome, and then make a decision based on that and the odds being offered.

I bet mostly on money line because that's what I'm used to. However, once in a while, I bet on point spreads like betting on a particular player to score or on how many yellow cards will be in the game. I am not that lucky when it comes to point spread which makes me not fancy it as a good gambling strategy.

Majority of my win has been from money line. My neighbor is a good fan of point spreads sometimes, I meet him for predictions if I want to try my luck on point spread.

I tend to combine both, there are clearly some bets which seems clear to us that the money line would be the best option and for some which is harder to decide its outcome, you settle for point spread based on the capacities of the teams involved, like if the team are more aggressive, you can go ahead to bet on yellow cards or even corners or more options.

I deal more in parlays, so my betslip is mostly made up of both patterns of betting, it is more like inspirational and any angle my inspiration moves for any team, I place my selection there and move on to the next until I'm done with the number of selections I want for my bet.

As for me,  I actually look for more value in my bets than easy winning.  I get why moneyline bets feels simple,  picking the team you like or your favorite team to give you a straightforward outcome is actually very easy,  but I have found out that consistently betting on teams with low odds is not going to build any real profit.  I almost always go for the point spread when I see any value in it even if the bet becomes  more difficult.

I try to look for a favorite that I think will win  comfortably or an underdog that I think will cover the spread.  I try to mix a bunch of different things, like stats, form,  and matchups to make a better decision rather than using my gut.  I know that betting on value instead of making sure every bet I place has a win attached has helped me win more in the long run  even if some of those bets lose along the way.

What I bet depends on my confidence level of the game. If I am looking at a game where a team is a heavy favorite in an NBA game I have to look at the opponent to decide whether I think that team can cover the points or the other team is good enough to cover the spread where I take the points. If I cannot come to a decision but I know the team that's favored will win, I'll take the low odds and bet the favorite on the moneyline.

These bookies are pretty good at getting the lines pretty close, so sometimes it's not easy to bet 1 side or the other in these basketball games.

You can push the odds higher to around 1.70 or so, but once you do that the chances of winning also drop. So even if moneyline looks safer, the results don’t always translate into real profit.

So I’m curious how others approach it. Do you prefer moneyline or point spread?

Most of the time the reason why I don't go for moneyline is because of the value of the odds, point spread gives you more value you need but they are very risky options to bet on. At the end of the day there's no option in betting that guarantees profits, all you have to do is to always stake responsibly. I used to focus on moneyline but I don't just consider just one option anymore, I bet based on my analysis.

I do consider the two because sometimes I might be able to focus more on money line and gamble, while also in some conditions, I may choose to consider point spread because of the odds that might be assigned to each game I am about to play, that is why in most cases, I will have to always gamble the way I like it and don't maintain a single pattern of gambling as long as I am being satisfied with how I wanted to do it to my own taste.

I would consider using point spread if I were more of an NFL or NBA bettor, because I believe it's easier to know each teams offensive capabilities and use that information to an advantage and that makes me already have a sixth sense of how the teams i choose win and that makes such picks more open to the chances of success as compared to moneyline strategy of betting which is more focused on low scoring sports where a single play can change an entire game result.

The trick is just to know which serves your risk management skills best and it would help manage wins or losses effectively without any introduction to addiction.

I think moneyline is much more easier and I always go with that bet rather the point spread which could not be fulfilled by the team most of the time even if you bet on the clear favorites and unfavorable teams. I think point spread is much difficult to win compare to the moneyline or match winner, sure you can bet on it but as I've been betting on it, it always gets me that point 5 or the team can't cover that spread. I'm on moneyline.

If it were at the beginning when I started gambling, then the moneyline market was my favorite. But for now, there isn't a more favorite or more focused choice of mine. It all depends on each match I want to pick. Sometimes, when looking at odds that don't provide a good return, the point spread market can be an option. But sometimes I bet on favourites to win with a handicap of -1 or -2 (football) to increase low odds, and of course I love multiple bets. I usually stick to moneyline, point spread is only a necessity in some cases if I really want to get more out of the bet which I don’t really consider for most of my bets .

I don’t like complicating my bets either.. Feels much better for me to go with parlays using over/under and no point spread. I can switch to spread sometimes, but that depends on the teams playing each other.

The problem when someone was doing money line, he can't be consistence for long term. He makes unnecessary movement, which often trapped him to pick the wrong bet. When you saw someone who always took money line for the top club, i was doubting he faces losses far often than the won.

I do prefere money line. It's much more sustainable, and very useful in long term.

If you talk about moneyline betting and point spread betting, of course I would choose a simple bet rather than having to set a point spread bet.

It can be confirmed that moneyline betting is more fun for me, because I don't need to bother, I just choose a team that has a chance of winning without taking into account anything, including the score.

Honestly, as long as I gamble and place sports bets, I could say that I make the most moneyline bets rather than point spread bets or anything else.

In this case is not only the type of bet that matters, but it how you do manage it especially your picks even though you end up choosing moneyline or point spread, if you're not careful with the odds and you aren't consistent profit will be very hard to get. So it's better you focus on discipline and the value, don't just go after favourite all the time, I think it's only long term thinking that can really make the difference

The spread bets has never been my thing because it has to take me lengthy process of analysing every single possible and impossibility during the event and such strategies of predicting how many goals, corners kicks and all that of the games weights top much.

I love betting straight of which team would win on the prediction outcome. I specifically do that to manage my mental risk  and that is just how I have been playing along up to this long term.

It's rather obvious that everyone would suit in for money line due to how inconsistent point spread tends to be usually when you bets on games that are less attractive. But then I think there's no point for the comparison between both because mostly what gamblers find themselves doing is always involvement in moneyline other than point spread. Regardless I prefer money line cause I tend to keep my gambling activity at a balance.

This argument is not justified because there is no points spread on favorites but only on underdogs. I personally bet on both because the primary sports I do bet on is football and NBA.

NBA = ML works great. Points spread too.
Football = ML most of the time, points spread only on underdog.

If the favorites chances of winning aren't that high, win or draw usually gets the job done for me.
