Trump thought his "Venezuela strategy" was going to work in Iran. Turns out, he was wrong. Because Iran is more resilient than Venezuela itself. Some say the real intentions behind the war was to acquire all of Iran's oil. They may be right, especially when Trump floated the idea of deploying ground troops on Kharg Island (which is Iran's economic lifeline, btw).
Trump has made hundreds of ideas and thousands of nonsensical statements during the course of the war. What he said is not trustworthy.
The deployment of ground troops is outside his authority, and only Congress has the power to make that decision.
The world is now paying the price of a prolonged war. Even with an agreement in place, that's no guarantee there will be permanent peace. The deal is a fragile one. Recently, Iran targeted another vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. So you can see where this is all heading to. Wishing everyone the best of luck.
Yes, there are no guarantees and everything remains very uncertain because all that the two sides have achieved is a memorandum of understanding.
However, that is still a hundred times better than having no agreement at all and conflict continuing to escalate. Therefore, do not focus only on the negative side and become overly pessimistic.
Starting a war is easy, but ending it is never easy and will take a long time. We need patience.
