During such chaotic times, there are more important concerns like your life safety rather than using bitcoins or cryptocurrencies, and to secure your assets including bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for later use. In such times, perhaps the best thing you can use is fiat currencies or something physically like gold as it can be used anywhere but there are disadvantages with portability.

The obvious answer is that they wanted to protect their wealth, some of those wealthy Iranians. So it makes sense for them to move as the country is not stable. The reports says that they detected it during the first few days of the war. So there could still be internet that time.

During war, terrible things do happen lives and properties are destroyed and the internet system will likely be shut down. Refugees and some other affected people can receive help through cryptocurrency but will mostly be major cryptocurrency investors and benefactors who may not be within the war zone and can even be from people in diaspora.

Investing in cryptocurrency is a nice idea , especially Bitcoin. But when war happens, the crypto market shakes and many investors sell their bitcoin and other cryptocurrency asset and use it as relieve fund since economic activities are no longer in full force, and major sources of income would likely close during this time.

One reason why whistle blowers in some countries exist is because of those greedy politicians or government officials that hide stacks of money in their homes instead of using a commercial bank, because they know they can't defend the source of the funds.
Now with Bitcoin, it may be private and more secure but transactions can't be erased from the Blockchain network.

The fear of most persons is also due to the fact that internet is what makes Bitcoin systems function effectively and if it gets disrupted, their funds get stuck, but these days I believe the Internet is secure to function effectively because of upgrades in the network protocols and better services that don't rely on general service providers.

Not sure if Iran publishes it officially, but I heard they are dealing with crypto for trading goods. Even this isn't true, but it's possible since there are no boundaries for the cryptocurrency payments. Any sanctions don't include crypto payments technically. Though I am not sure, likely that's the reason why crypto hasn't reacted to this ongoing war.

That's the advantage of cryptocurrency; we can use it anywhere in any situation due to the decentralised behaviour of Bitcoin. Just imagine Bitcoin struggling in this bear market but not being affected by the war. It does prove again crypto payments are the solid payment for borderless transactions. It understandable that the government can use cryptocurrencies for trades with other countries but how this can be possible for iranian people without internet connection? AFAIK only via starlink this can be possible but I didn't hear that Musk allowed the use of his services in Iran during this period. If there are active bitcoin nodes detected, the only explanation is they are being run by government facilities.

Can Bitcoin work when when the internet connection of a whole country is short down? Yes, Bitcoin is going to work and you will see those thousands of nodes running that's because many people from around the world are using it but in the country where Internet is short down, they can not use Bitcoin or crypto and that's a bad disadvantage. If there's no internet in the world, how do you send Bitcoin transaction? It's difficult to do that but if you have a had currency with you, it can be utilized.

Most people are only able to use Bitcoin if they have connection to Internet. Even there are off grid solutions but very little people can master it and use it for their Bitcoin transactions. It's in very bad situations that barely happen while with normal situation with good Internet connection or almost normal situation with fluctuating access to Internet, it's able to use Bitcoin blockchain for transactions of bitcoin and trade deals.

Bitcoin can not fix everything and it has pros and cons too but compares to traditional assets and transaction means, Bitcoin has many advantages and we can enjoy them whenever we can.

I don't think it is necessary to amplify Bitcoin strength like it can do everything, can fix everything and can be used anytime in any conditions, it's unrealistic.

It's available to use but for the majority of Bitcoin users, they are not too technical like this and they will need to use Bitcoin in a more normal and standard way, with Bitcoin wallet (can be either custodial wallet or non custodial wallet) and Internet connection.

Life is unpredictable and hard but I see discussions like this, if not for technical development, upgrade for Bitcoin protocol and its adoption, is more like attack against Bitcoin.
