In brief, about the initiative, United States, United Kingdom and Canada are conducting Operation Atlantic through U.S. Secret Service, the UK’s National Crime Agency, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Ontario Securities Commission focusing on identifying victims who may have lost - or are at risk of losing - crypto assets through "approval phishing,” which is often linked to cryptocurrency investment scams. Operation Atlantic will identify and disrupt these scams in near real-time, denying criminals the ability to further profit from their crimes.”

Further the reading on https://www.secretservice.gov/newsroom/releases/2026/03/international-law-enforcement-operation-seeks-disrupt-crypto-fraud.

I hope this would help but I still think there is nothing better than educating the people. Prevention is better than cure but the bad side is that some people are not ready to learn until they are scammed. This can not completely eliminate crypto phishing and investment scam but I think it will help to some extent.

What do you think about this?

"Near real-time" ?, I don't think this whole initiative might solve to many problems.
Besides, isn't this supposed to be the actual Job of FATF or am I missing something?. But just like you've said, it is best that people are aware of these things, because choosing to play the protection role at all times won't completely eliminate or prevent the vulnerable ones from falling victim. The vulnerable ones aren't really weak... They probably just lack the awareness.

What do you think about this?
This operation aims to achieve these:

The operation aims to disrupt organized fraud schemes, assist victims on how to secure assets to prevent further loss, recover stolen funds and raise public awareness about cryptocurrency investment scams.

Approval phishing has made people lose so much money. These scammers have tricked people into granting them access to their wallets. Others have been scammed through pig butchering. The article claimed that the agencies that are involved in this Operation Atlantic have advanced techniques and tools that can help to track and recover stolen funds. The operation also involves public orientation about investment scams which will help people to avoid these scams. Any efforts that are geared towards fighting criminal activities in the crypto industry should be supported.

The recovery is good but I feel that it won't be really efficient like that of the scam awareness and prevention. After all, prevention is better than cure.

What do you think about this?
If the government tries disrupt the activity of cybercriminals by identifying a method through which they operate to try stop it, they will just change their pattern and device another strategy, sometimes more complex or even simpler than what they had, it does not matter the sophistication of the strategy, their interest is in that it works, that is it can fool victims. The best thing is as you have said, that is to educate people because if people have this knowledge, being fooled will become much harder, and many scammers will be discouraged to continue looking for victims because everyone is wiser now.

What do you think about this?

Where crime prevails and people get to benefit from big in it, don’t just assume those criminals are mere ones. As you’re upping your security system to stop them from earning through this scam methods, they’re also trying to look for ways to better their strategy to disrupt your counter strategy on them. It may end up being a war between them and a challenge to do better and better one’s security system. This I know will further mitigate how these scammers get to benefit from these scams, but I’m convinced enough that it won’t completely eliminate it. Like the OP said, some people will be scammed before they take on preventive measures next time.

Have you seen someone that wants to send money through Wester Union but he was told that it is a scam but the person still say send the money that it is not a scam? Or someone that you explained one type of scam to but the person still told you that he has been scam and that you told him before but he did not know how it happened? Awareness is good but I know that some people need experience. What they are planning is good and I support them but I will not be surprised that if they are unable to end the scam for fiat, I do not think they can end the scam for crypto.

Could any kind of fraud activities in crypto or other aspects of Life be avoided completely?

I don't think so this is possible, every agency under the government should work in tandem to ensure that fraud is disallowed and the level is minimized to the least, fraud is just about being contemptuous with acquiring illegal things and this should be what every one of us should see as a challenge until we fight it and see that all are safe.

Yes, while some might still fall after being forewarned others wouldn't and in tge aspect of the government speaking about it many will even listen more than when they are being told by a random person.

Even if the governments are no longer influential as before since there are individuals taking their words with skepticism, they still hold high influence on many.

Well what I hoped for is quite different from what others wanted, how about they should start sending the money back to the victims of phishing after they get the funds instead of turning the stolen funds into the government properties?

This will be a game changer, I don't see the difference in going after those guys and stealing the money for yourself, you really aren't helping anyone.

The only way to disrupt crypto frauds is

*} Lecturing people about how to not fall for phishing links and online scams.
*} Make crypto space a safer haven by regulating every single tokens out there.

This will revealed the bad eggs even faster because many won't want to be regulated, it will expose who they are.
All investors need to do is avoid unregulated crypto projects.

I don't think that phishing link scams are run by organized groups, but rather by amateurs who want to make a dollar by any means possible. So if it were possible to track them, or at least make efforts to do so, I think most of them would stop this scam.

What do you think about this?
I like the idea, but this confirmed the government was not honest about the crypto when they said it was impossible to solve issues related to this about crypto, and crypto being only used for illicit purposes.

I don't think that phishing link scams are run by organized groups, but rather by amateurs who want to make a dollar by any means possible. So if it were possible to track them, or at least make efforts to do so, I think most of them would stop this scam.
We shouldn't consider phishing or social engineering attacks as something used by amateurs when it's the attacks used lately to steal from most crypto enthusiasts.
If I remember correctly, it is also the same strategy used by the North Korea hacker to steal from Bybit last year February, when the recipient address was replaced with the hacker's address.

I think we should be actually separating the kind of phishing attacks due to how sophisticated they are, yes there are some mere phishing attempts mostly random emails sent to people to actually do sign and win some rewards which some of the time looks amateur but realistically still get people and then there is the highly sophisticated ones in which they get the users details from the platform and send them phishing links and in almost all of it this ones are usually tempting due to its mode of communication, example is the Lazarus group attacks on exchanges and big platforms and the latter is definitely not for amateurs

This is not entirely true because as some are amateur, some are experts. But I know this development can really help a lot if it is effective but I doubt it as the money involved is getting lower. But what I think is that if there are still scam that are fiat, I mean in a way that the victims send fiat to the scammer and hackers and the person are able to block the trace, I do not think all scammers and hackers can be known if it is cryptocurrencies. The government will not be cared about scam that are or low amount of money. We ourselves need to be careful and just avoid the scam.

My thought as well because some of this scammers we refer to as amateur are evil genius, most of them are very good in technology, they can make a grievous attempt on hacking into people's crypto account to steal their assets, and I would not doubt it if they actually have an organization were they gather together to plot and come up with even more advanced methods of scamming, these people are humans like you and I, they leave amongst us, but you will not know they have a hidden agenda. Just as they are planing for an initiative to prevent scam, these scammers are also upgrading, they are aware. We just need to be careful.
