I want to warn others about a scam happening on Telegram.
The contact starts directly through Telegram, with personal messages, photos, and even videos.
They can look very realistic, sometimes even offering video calls to gain trust.
They have no scruples in attacking the emotional side, asking about family or personal situations.
They also pretend to live a very comfortable and luxurious life to appear credible.

In my case, they insisted that I should save and invest in dollars through Onchain.
Later, I discovered that the video they sent was dated March 1, 2025, proving it was not genuine.

This is a fraud pattern: building trust with personal content, then pushing for investments.
I am sharing the Telegram profile picture only as evidence of the scam pattern, not to attack any individual.

Please be careful: do not transfer money, do not share personal information, and always verify before trusting online contacts.
Stay alert and protect yourself.

This profile picture is enough to identify it as a scam. I don't know, but if anyone still believes such a scam, it's best not to trade/invest.

I received a message similar to the one you received yesterday. This kind of message is very common on Telegram where some accounts using pictures of women randomly contact users. These accounts which use pictures of women can collect information about you and attempt to blackmail you or lure you into a scam platform to steal your money.

Therefore, we should not trust strangers, especially accounts that contact you first on Telegram. It is important as you did OP to verify things carefully before trusting anyone. We should also not rely on the videos they send, and everyone should do their own research and verification before making any decisions.

This is a very common scam, should anyone really be falling for this in this day and age. I think anyone who can fall for this is really in trouble in modern society.

First of all, unsolicited messages (particularly in Telegram) should immediately be seen as a scam, until proven otherwise. Scammers have been using this social engineering techniques to steal money from people for a long time and this modus operandi should be obvious for all to see now. Don't fall for investment scams. Don't fall for romance scams. Nobody over the internet can out of the blues want to put you on to ways to make money.

When it comes to Telegram, I rarely respond to random new messages unless I've already spoken to someone outside the app to contact me. If the platform never allows users to use or create customized bots, I won't use it.

If you truly have no interest in chatting with others on Telegram, don't set a username.

This is a commun scam not limited to telegram. Maybe it is frequently happened in telegram where it is easier to find victims in crypto oriented groups, but this is also detected in other social platforms including forums and social media apps. I have myself received similar invitation to discuss in Reddit and Tiktok where I use anonymous profiles with both and I am a member of many crypto oriented groups. I am sure that there are victims in those apps but they are ignorant about the ways to report it here. It's always better not to make deals with strangers and avoid sharing personal info if you are already using anonymous profile.

If you truly have no interest in chatting with others on Telegram, don't set a username.
It's safer to initiate contact with people you're interested in messaging, especially official Telegram group admins.

In any community scammers try to impersonate group admin accounts and message anyone who posts in the official group. Therefore, a simple effective rule is: "Admins never DM you first." This means that if someone contacts you first claiming to be support or admin they are most likely a scammer. Also, Scammers may also use fake profile pictures (e.g., photos of stock images or women) to appear more trustworthy and deceive victims.

Even if you don't set a username, if you're active in any popular Telegram groups, they'll be tempted to message you.. The key is to never reply to strangers who message you, as they have a convincing and professional way of communicating. It's best to report & block any unknown user who contacts you.

Where can I find the privacy mode? or were you talking about this?

Unfortunately, it is only available to premium users. I get that telegram has to earn, but such basic feature should not be paywalled, especially when scam DMs are so rampant. Not to mention, telegram is already running ads where they earn good money. I've seen a lot of scummy ads there TBH.
