Why does losing to a person feel worse than losing to a sportsbook?

There's a very big difference between losing money with friends and losing money in sports book. It is very easy to let go when you lose your money in the gambling sites because it is something that you can never get back, but when you are gambling with friends it is very easy to recover your money back if you are the types of gamblers that normally like problems because you might decide not give them the money after losses but you can never bet a game in the casino with empty handed that is why is like that. Maybe you used something you can not afford to lose that is why you are feeling that way because if you used what you can afford to lose and the person is actually your friend, you won't see or have any reason to feel bad because it's still your friend but if you gamble with something you are supposed to use for another thing and you loss the bet, honestly even if I'm the one I will feel bad because I messed up but what I do sometimes is that when I gamble or bet with my friend and I won, sometimes I will give him back what he used to bet because sometimes it can be what they can't afford to lose.

For me losing to a person or losing to script, sportsbook feel the same. I similarly get little disappointed and dont make tragedy over a lost bet. And losing to a friend does not feel at all. I will never turn angry if I had lost to a friend, as we wont take this betting serious. Why would someone feel different if result similar unpredictable? I think we should feel the same, because we should be disappointed by act of losing, but not to who we lose to.

I don't have kind of mentality and I will never have it because it does not really make a sense how we feel relaxed like nothing happened when we loses to a casino but the story and the grievance is be different when we lose to our fellow friend.
I will prefer to lose to a fellow friend while gambling than for me to lose to a casino that will use my money to pay other users when they win.

Same thing as having a bet with a friend, if you are unlucky and your friend win the bet while you lose, the price will go to them because they won. The person can decide not to share it with you or he can decide to share the money with you. Even though he didn't give you the money, maybe going to a party or using the money to buy something like drinks or whatever which the both of you and others around there will take together and discuss the betting and you all laugh together. Sometimes the loser of the game don't feel bad at all, but the way the winner of the bet acts, will make the loser get angry.

Very true, there is a very big difference which can't even be compared ( in my own opinion though), because to friends one can easily recover as you said but in casino is totally a different thing. Which is why, when it comes to gambling, that is anything that concerns gambling, I bet with the amount that I know that if the outcome doesn't go as planned, I won't be that affected, because anything can happen in gambling which one can't do anything about it but rather just be in pains and regrets.

Exactly, maybe OP has bitter friends that are going to come for his head which is why he is afraid to lose to them. I have friends that when we make promised and bet on each other, even if it doesn't involve money, we still find ways to mock each other just to make them feel we were right and they are wrong but it doesn't in any way stop our friendship or make it about ourself, we just make sure we have that feeling of mocking each other for loss.

If you know you can't make bet with your friends, it's better you don't bet with them. Sometimes, just make that mouth and leave the place and if they later use it against uou, stand your ground and defend yourself but you see that bet, never do it even if they want to make you do it and if it involves money, avoid it. We have seen friends fight because of situations like this all in the name of making bet against each other.

Admittedly, other losses cannot affect our financial stability to such an extent as the risks in casinos do. In my opinion, a very clever trick of keeping the money that we spend under the control is a way of remaining level-headed. Yes, it is a normal thing for me and others too. As human beings we all have the desire to prove ourselves better than others, so when we lose a single 1 vs 1 bet, it is natural to be more emotional than losing against the bookie. But if this bet is for fun, then I don't think that losing it would be the most disappointing thing. The problem that often occurs in bets like this is because of prestige and proving that each person's choice is more correct, while both parties never know the final result.

You are absolutely right, which is never possible, if anyone says they feel relaxed when they lose to casino, that's a lie. Though it can feel little emotional about it, maybe if they bet with an amount they can't afford to lose, but whether big or small, one must surely have emotional impulses, which they are capable of controlling it. There are some persons that will even choose to lose to friends than to casinos but all the same, its important to gamble responsibly.

I feel more upset to be losing to bookies than to a person. Both hurt but if I'm ever going to bet on something IRL if it's a game or otherwise, I only bet when I know the odds are in my favor. Otherwise, I'm not betting. I think the losses to bookies hurt more because I've lost to them one too many times and even when it feels like I can't lose anymore, I still end up piling up losses.

Losing to a friend is personally fun on my end, atmost the lost fund gets spent on each of us interest. Losing to the house is more annoying because it goes in there and will never be used or shared amongst the player who lost the money, unless he/she wagers again and luckily wins. The good thing with playing with friends is the bond it builds and the fun behind the experience, most times players lose huge amount to friends and feel nothing, but fun about the experience.

I don't think that's what the OP is trying to say, but they are somehow related as long as there is a bet between two people, even if they staked it on such an event. What I really pick out from the OP's explanation is that it hurt him more because such a side bet with friends is always staked with a higher amount compared to the amount that could have possibly been used if it was a regular bet on a gambling site.
