BlueWallet.
Actually, this isn’t a new topic, as there’s already a thread with the same purpose that’s been created here.

For questions about BlueWallet, you can visit the BlueWallet discussion thread in the Software Wallets board.
BlueWallet - Bitcoin Wallet Discussion

It’s best to avoid Trust Wallet if possible, as it has received generally poor feedback from most people with experience in using wallets.

Hi,

To start with a beginner-friendly app wallet which do you recommend?

It really depends on what you want here. Holding altcoins? built-in swapping? Staking? Bluewallet is great as long as you want to deal with bitcoin only, otherwise an altcoin wallet would be better (preferably cake wallet or unstoppable wallet because they're open source).

Trust wallet is a close source wallet which should be avoided.

For bitcoin, aside from been close source, it is one of the worst bitcoin wallet that I have sued before. I completely avoid Trust wallet. Bluewallet is open source and far the best among the two.

For altcoins wallet, I prefer Cake wallet and Unstoppable.

I'll choose blue wallet anytime anyway for my Bitcoin holdings since it's a non-custodial open source wallet.

Trust wallet is horrible, beyond being closed source, it is one of the least secured wallet, like the others suggested, I personally use cake wallet for my altcoins. I had my fill of trust wallet long ago due to security issues, and from the recent reviews, it's not any much better and I'm not going to prescribe it for anyone. I think somehow most of us started from trust wallet before moving on to better ones.

Go for blue wallet or electrum for Bitcoin, cake wallet for altcoins and you'll be fine.

Newbie to the forum doesn't necessarily means newbie to Bitcoin, some people have been into Bitcoin before they found this forum.
Like myself, I've had some little Bitcoin exposure before getting here buh the information here is far better and more genuine than what I've been fed prior to getting here.

This two are totally different type of wallets, but I would never use trust wallet or any other closed source crap.
If you are using bitcoin-only mobile wallet than bluewallet is ok, and for multicoin wallet Cake or Unstoppable wallet are best options we have.
Electrum wallet is basic bitcoin wallet, and I would start with that first.

If you're still into altcoins and you are joining a lot of new projects that might require you to have a new wallet address, and that's where you choose Trust Wallet.

But what really is your purpose? you just don't drop a question because you're a newbie and gives the two option.

Although I understand where you are coming from, but as a starter then simply choose what everyone is saying Blue Wallet if you're focusing to Bitcoin.

If I have to chose one of the two suggestions, I will definetly chose BlueWallet. But keep in mind this is an only-bitcoin wallet. I would recommend Electrum Wallet as a better alternative. Just be sure to download it from a trusted source.

As for a wallet supporting altcoins, I will definetly avoid Trust Wallet for threasons explained in previous replies. I would recommend a hardware wallet like Trezor Wallet or Ledger Wallet. Always make sure to buy it from a reliable source.

Yes, you should and use cake wallet instead if were talking security cake wallet is much better alternative to any multicoin wallet. Trustwallet only is better only when connecting to dapps for many tokens and far less secured even though it was backed by binance where financial aid is not a problem to make it secure yet it does.

Yes,
Goto : github.com/cake-tech/cake_wallet/releases

Download the latest Linux tar.xz file from 'Assests', you won't  find it in v6.0.3 but  v6.0.2 has it as the latest file Cake_Wallet_v6.0.2_Linux.tar.xz as of today 23 March 2026.

Download  and verify the hash, check if the checksum matches the one on their github page : Cake_Wallet_v6.0.2_Linux.tar.xz:
111e2f205b68bcc9bd4e55b04e835ef5977c4cfc186a6accbe35743a4e50ba8b
.

Extract it to a folder, rename the folder if you will be accessing from tyour terminal or you can leave it if the name doesn’t bother you.
Give permissions if not included.
Run the executable from the extracted files, you should have it working.

Besides Cake Wallet, which I believe is a good option, there are also other excellent options like Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Sparrow and Wasabi (for Bitcoin).

Is there no way to verify the gpg signature as well besides the hashes? The only reference I found about gpg was this result.
