I was an avid miner of this coin when it was released in 2017. If you are familiar with the Not Evil search engine/Tor hidden service, you may remember when the site implemented a rewards program. Users were paid in NED for submitting search queries.
In 2019 I tried connecting to the network again and downloading the blockchain but no nodes were online. cryptoid.info had shut down their node and removed notEvilDime from their block explorer. I didn't have a copy of the blockchain but luckily I was able to contact cryptoid and they sent me a .zip of their data directory in 2020.
If you are interested in solo mining a bitcoin-like sha256 coin, notEvilDime is for you. The only hashing power currently on the network is my trusty nvidia gtx 1080 making ~1Gh/s, so the network difficulty is quite low. While the Not Evil rewards program and search engine haven't existed for quite some time, in my opinion notEvilDime still has collectable value. Solve some blocks today and own a piece of dark web history.

That's a solid approach. I think profitability really depends on your electricity costs and which algorithm you choose. Have you calculated your break-even point?
