Indian street food: why does it have to be so dirty?

I want to believe that this is not a full representation of the Indian culture. We are in an age where people will do anything to attract attention on social media and make money from it as well. This I'm convinced is just a selected content intended to cause traffic on social just to boast social media engagements. I am not an Indian, but I feel really sorry for  how the country is being misrepresented on social media. It is time the Indian government does something about misleading contents like this.

I'm not surprised that some locals immediately adopt a defensive stance on this matter, as if it was a kind of personal aggression to them. Such comments have also been spotted on Youtube when that kind of video is exposed to the world.

It gives a good clue on why those food stalls are still operating in India. There is a clear lack of self-criticism, while a sense of defensiveness speaks louder.

AFAIK, there's two members replied here from India one is me which I tried to explain the reality and other person is not interested in anything explaining at all then what is that you said being defensive and lack of self criticism?

I agree that this happens but this doesn't represent the entire country and not even 1% if you have any idea about the size of India not just the population count.

Well, there are many questions I want to ask about the lifestyle of India, which I don't know what to believe, if its their culture or they are just acting up, because most of their videos which I do watch on YouTube, show that some of them are dirty or doesn't have money to take care of themselves, that is to say they are poor, while some are place and clean and need including their foods. So, I think I will say not all India's are the same, though I haven't been there, I'm just saying through the videos I do watch.

Never trust foods prepared by anyone in the matrix or the world's system. They live in darkness and wouldn't see clearly to prepare foods the right ways. If you succeed in teaching a country hygiene you would need to prepare to deal with those who prepare foods the wrong way or use chemicals that are toxic to humans, in foods, probably to kill off germs, make foods last longer, taste better, etc

Better to eat from children of light, but if you are already part of them then pray to our CREATOR  to purify foods and make them harmless when they are offered by people in the matrix

Christain guide book, the Word of GOD, is very particular about hygiene, clean and unclean foods. We are especially taught to eat certain herbivores due to how picky, clean or plant focused they tend to be.. If you touch unclean things you would have to get yourself cleaned and quarantined before mixing with the rest of the society. This are part of the old guide book (old testament). The New One demands that we don't touch filthy or unclean things. and we have to do things orderly,, (including in food preparation) rather than in chaotic or disorderly manner

The hygiene here is very bad and this could lead to serious contamination, when we look at what causes food poisoning, things related to this are what happened when we don't know take serious care to what we eat into our mouth, I'm sure this kind of setting is in a remote area and that shouldn't even be a barrier that we must be denied over our rights to eating well under a standard hygienic platform.

If another person’s dirt touched my food, I’d probably go crazy, but in recent years I’ve adopted a more naturalist mindset... For example, figs are pollinated by fig wasps that burrow into the fruit’s core and remain there until they die. So, we’re essentially eating a mixture of dead wasps and living insects. Pine honey is made from insect secretions; bees collect them from the insects... Nature is already disgusting. And thousands of years ago, our ancestors lived in even more disgusting conditions in the wild... :)

Are you actually from India, because I am quite curious on how it is possible for a whole society of towns within society to openly accept these kind of things and just live with it, inestad of calling for a change and tougher hygienic restrictions on both food management and restaurants on the streets of India.

Perhaps of people did not have to resort to cheap food prepared on the street, then those people would not offer such meals with a serious lack of hygene.

It was not much different in China either but the government supervision has improved most of it.

Probably everyone has already been suggested by youtube lots of videos displaying indian dishes or indian street food being prepared by different chefs. The point in common among the videos is the lack of hygiene.

Why does it have to be like that? Is it part of the culture? Don't people get diseased and die from bacteria by eating these dishes?

Isn't anything like epidemic control agents to demand minimum hygiene from those workers?

There are many people from India on this forum, so they might help bringing accurate answers on this matter.

That we wanted to eat and have the appetite of something interesting to give our stomach does not mean we should eat anyhow unhygienic food, to be sincere and I have to be frank on this, what is being seen on this image is not interesting at all, and anyone who is well conscious of his health and know what is right to do will not even afford to eat in such a setting, honestly this is disgusting, I'm still wondering if the government agencies are working accordingly to ensure that people get the safety require even by those that are offering food services within the society.

I don't know whether he is from India but I am from. And I already said this a few times this picture might be true but this doesn't represent the who street food culture in India. I am sure there might be some actions already taken against such and there is a regulatory body who oversee these things and they shut down even big brands because they had smokes in the kitches so the supervision is also there but not as agressive in other parts of the world.

For starters regarding culture, India have 22 official languages and over 1800 languages spoken throughout the country with many cultures religion etc. People who are naïve and does not understand one of the oldest civilization and cleanliness and purity is at the core irrespective of the region and many people outside might not understand these which is understandable  .

I have personally visited almost all the states in India and from someone from the Southern most part of India, which does not have these issues in general, you could find issues in chawl and slum areas in metro cities but as a tourist you never visit those places and personally never encountered these, if you start nitpicking it can be found everywhere even in your country  .

He should understand that, considering his username he might be around Malaysia, Borneo or Indonesia who has a big street food culture, while some are hygienic and there are less than hygienic ones in slums and other poor area in these countries and every other developing countries might encounter issues like these, you just have the option to decide from where and how you eat.

The picture clip is irritating and I wonder what people feel on seeing such dirty environments where they go to buy local food. From the picture the food is not healthy and I don't encourage people to patronize them because you are eating to get sick if you buy things from such a dirty place. Your environment is important especially for people that handles food and drinks. The facility where food  is sold ought to be neat not a place like goat house that I'm seeing in the image.

I think what we saw on the internet are worst cases of street food, or some of videos are fake and staged. On the contrast there are good placed to eat. And I bet if make it a goal, then in our own countries can be found as dirty as shown on pictures in this topic. On the other hand, who find Indian street dirty? Everyone except Indians. Its cheap, affordable, so they dont complain and there is no reason to improve something. If a person is hungry and has no alternative, then this food isnt dirty at all.

The government cannot really do anything to overcome this situation unless the general public of the country becomes aware. It is difficult for a healthy and normal person to buy food from that shop after seeing the picture you have shown. I think the work they have done is probably not done in front of the customers. But it is certain that there is no quality control for any kind of health regulations. However, I think it is very easy to solve it but it will be difficult if effective steps are not taken. If the common people living in that area, especially those who buy food from there, boycott those shops, then I think the situation will start to become very normal and they will also start giving importance to health awareness issues.
