For some time now, Bitget has stopped charging their normal fees on P2P transactions unlike before now when some percentage of your coins would be taken by the exchange as a fee.

Before now, I always estimate the fee they would charge and include it before I send coins accross to ensure I get the desired fiat output, but recently I only have to consider the fee to be charged by the sending wallet and I get to trade everything Bitget receives.
I think this is a good development on their part and very appealing to their regular users.

Have you also noticed?

Let us hope the exchange will not bring it back or maybe they just displayed it anytime people want to make P2P transaction to let them know that there is no fee charged.

You can read about it as it started in February:
https://punchng.com/bitget-launches-zero-fee-p2p-trading-in-naira/
https://www.thisdaylive.com/2026/02/25/bitget-rolls-out-zero-fee-for-p2p-in-naira-markets/
https://businessday.ng/news/article/bitget-rolls-out-zero-fee-for-p2p-in-naira-markets/

Probably Bitget paid those Nigerian news to let people know about it for marketing purposes. You should have seen it on the news because it was on many news.

When Gate, Bybit and other exchanges are not charging fee, maybe more people went to those exchanges and Bitget may notice reduce in P2P users in Nigeria which could have made them to go back to the old ways of zero fee.

Seeing Bitget not applying charges to their p2p transactions sound more interesting but I hope this stays long because it might just be a way to lure in users to take part in it and enjoy the features and gain more traders though. I never even knew Bitget allows p2p for Nigerian currency I bet I have been glued to Bybit lately that I didn’t even bothered about other exchanges lol.
This new sounds great, let hope it stays longer than expected because to me it sounds like a way to lure in people to take part in their exchanges but it sounds great though.

I noticed it theast time I traded there but I felt it was just for that trade or that their were in some sort of promo but your post just made me remember that and confirm it to be true. I have been wondering how other exchanges make money from allowing p2p trade because charging the fees was the right way I know. Remember that merchants can make their profits from the difference between bid and ask price, but that of the exchange was not clear.

This marketing method of Bitgate is very nice. It will provide many advantages in their marketing, on the other hand, it will be very convenient for every P2P trader, especially for a regular trader. If Bitgate maintains this method in the long term, then it will be a very good plan. I have never used Bitgate, if it is long term, then I will definitely use Bitgate. Although it is not possible to say whether it will be long term or not, I may try to use it from now on.

I don't use bitget for p2p but the other exchange that I use for my p2p trades doesn't charge any fee for p2p trade unless you are merchants that is selling and buying coins for the sake of profit making, doing that will require you to post ads and definitely you will be charged but if you are just an end side buyer or seller, you will not be charged any fee from the exchange you I'm using. Although, even if you are not a merchant but you decided to post ads when ever you want to trade, they will charge you.

True, I've noticed same on Bitget P2P.

It is a wde step to make. Removing fees of platform would make trades more predictable and friendly to users, mostly for those who depends on tight margins. Presently the only real cost to plan for is the fee for network from your sending wallet, that makes things a lot simpler.

It equally makes Bitget even more competitive with other platforms of P2P and may attract traders who are active and liquidity.

Haven said that, exchanges scarcely take away fees without a method. They can be compensating through spreads or some other services.

Above all, it is a positive change for those using it, yet  it is still worth remaining alert to costs that are hideen.

Wow, that is a good development by the bitget decision board members. To be frank, there is no point why bitget will be taking fees for P2P transactions, it doesn't matter at all, and there is no point why buyer would be paying charges too for P2P. All these doesn't make sense at all.

This is a big development for the Bitget as they stop removing charges fees when doing p2p transactions, I have never using Bitget for my life before but because of this good news from Bitget users i will convert to Bitget very soon. Because those Bybits vendors has become worst as most of them always ask of the charges fees when doing  p2p transactions with any of them, allot of people are complaining about the those Bybit and they don’t want to change up to today.

I think by the time they begin lose customers now they will realize their mistakes, because of this Bitget news circulating everywhere now not everybody will like to use the Bybit anymore they can definitely migrate to where they will not ask charges fees.

Exchanges make their money from trades that are being performed on their platform like swapping of coins and also from transactions fees (that is, withdrawing crypto from the exchange to another exchange). The charges that some exchanges impose in their p2p section doesn't really go to the exchange. Those charges are just Value Added Tax (VAT) that comes from regulatory policies between the exchange and the country's SEC on every p2p transactions. Those exchanges that haven't been charging this fee are operating without any regulatory framework. Though i don't know the reasons why bitget removed it, it could be to welcome more Nigerians to perform p2p on their CEX then in the future they can still add it back.

I haven't used Bitget trade P2P before, my regular P2P exchange is Bybit which happens to not charge fees for P2P but learning that Bidget have stopped charging fees for P2P transactions looks interesting. Such move could really attract more small traders who want to avoid paying extra on every transaction.

That said, I think their customers should still be cautious because sometimes exchanges display zero fees to encourage trading and might subsequently revert to charging fees afterwards. But if this is an actual policy change, it’s a smart move by Bitget and will most likely attract regular customers of other exchange platforms. Maybe I'll give it a trial and see how their own P2P works.

Exchanges make their money from trades that are being performed on their platform like swapping of coins and also from transactions fees (that is, withdrawing crypto from the exchange to another exchange).
Also exchanges makes money from:

• trading derivatives and spot trading but they make huge amount of money from trading.
• borrowing. Many of them are earning money borrowed to customers for trading. This can be seen in margin trading and I have seen one in future trading where you will see borrow/repay. Also are those that are losing but keep position opened for long.
• traders that are losing through liquidation.
• their exchange token creation
• coins and tokens listen
• Launchpad and Launchpool
• staking service
• and few more not yet mentioned like coin promotion probably.

I saw this notification but I didn't immediately believe it until I have used it couple of times and was able to confirm to myself that it is not some kind of marketing stunt.

When Gate, Bybit and other exchanges are not charging fee, maybe more people went to those exchanges and Bitget may notice reduce in P2P users in Nigeria which could have made them to go back to the old ways of zero fee.
Of course, I believe this is the main reason they scrapped out the charges since they were already losing the clients that flooded to them due to the voluminous scam rate in Bybit to other P2P platforms like Gate, Mexc e.t.c. They actually acted timely because their fees were already pissing people off and they were seriously in search of better alternatives or going back to Bybit.

Yes I have experienced Bitget not charging fees during transactions, but they collect those fees from their merchant because I experienced one of the merchants charging from my transaction sometimes last weeks ago when I made  transaction, little amount of money was deducted from my transaction and I asked for my fund to be completed, the merchant refused without any explanation so i ignored it .

At my second transaction, a different merchant this time told me that certain amount will be deducted do I accept or not and I asked for an explanation for transparency sake and he said the bank and the exchange are charging them for any transaction made, then I approved before the transaction was successful then I release the coins to him.

Most exchanges will charge you for trading and even as you exchange one coin to another, though the amount may not be much, but they still make some charges even though we don't put more attention to that, as for the P2P, they also claim that it is free, so on a normal day I don't expect that they should charge for engaging into P2P after they have been consistent about trading charges, on a normal day the use of P2P should be free and I don't think most exchange do make a tangible charge for their customers when using this service.

For some time now, Bitget has stopped charging their normal fees on P2P transactions unlike before now when some percentage of your coins would be taken by the exchange as a fee.
I neva observe am for my side. I do small P2P a few days ago but I nor see dat wan. Anyway, e go dey good if dem begin do am. Although d charges sef nor be wetin go bite persin like fuel and kerosene prices dey do us now for Naija. My major concern for Cexs na for dem to weed out those unscrupulous elements wey dey there to scam inexperienced P2P traders. Also, make Bitget find way to ensure sey any merchants wey nor dey use dem original registered name for dem accounts nor go fit do P2P there.
