It is not a hype, ZEC has been there and have been an alternative to monero. So it's one of the known privacy coins in the market.

You should look at its price chart from the beginning to make an informed decision on whether it is a good or bad investment, depending on how long you are willing to wait. No one here is going to give you financial advice or tell you to do exactly as they say.

I would prefer sticking to Monero.

The problem about altcoins is that we do not know when anyone among  them can disappoint. The bull run might later begin and the coin that you thought will increase significantly might only slightly increase and also the coin might not increase at all. This is the reason I prefer not to encourage anyone to buy altcoins. But if you are ready to gamble with the coin, why not, it is possible that ZEC may increase but do not be very certain of it.

Privacy coins are always worth considering if you are into privacy. There are a lot of things to consider when you have privacy coins, because they've always been subject to regulation because they're hard to audit and could bring you different things.

If you believe in it, go invest, but if not, then find another asset.

There are other privacy coins in the market, so maybe you pick one there.

What would make ZEC skyrocket?

ZEC would sky rocket as long as there would be a renewed to the privacy narrative. When the regulation to the crypto gets tightening. It will push people to go to the privacy narrative. It means the privacy coins such as ZEC has always been pumping due to the people who shifted to privacy coin.

Beside that when ZEC gets more integration to the defi or platform that will ease its adoption, it will also get fresh attention that can lead to the pump. However, no guarantee if the pump can last long. Sometimes, it's moving up, then it goes back down again.

Don't be surprised when you see that caused by a pump being triggered by the sentiment while it will be cooling off after traders take profit from the pump.

Is ZEC a good investment right now? One of the best privacy-focused Altcoin and the liquidity is everywhere, I mean there are a dozen of CeX nor Dex that you could easily swap the coin. If you read the news They also introducted of Zcash Shielded Assets (ZSAs) allows other tokens (like stablecoins) to be issued on the Zcash network with the same privacy features as ZEC. Zcash is also reaching the final stages of its long-awaited transition to Proof-of-Stake.

Only that 2 news is enough in my opinion.

Bitcoin price movement controls all these altcoins. ZEC is similar to monero and the chance of its price skyrocketing in the future is unknown because the future is filled with uncertainties. Anyone that tells you he knows what will be the fate of ZEC in the future is a joker.

Therefore, investing in this coin is very risky because it's a 50/50 thing to lose or make profits. However, you should only invest with the amount of money that you can afford to lose if you have confidence in it. I only have confidence in bitcoin.

Zcash have an infrastructure that is privacy oriented and a fix supply of 21 millions like bitcoin so in essence Zec will definitely be a worthy coin to hold for long term purpose, like bitcoin and we shouldn't take the current market reality with bitcoin and Zcash to speculate what we should expect in the future, alot in in the pipeline for this coin.

We shouldn't be talking about investments & prices for privacy coins like Monero (XMR) or Zcash (ZEC). That's because these types of coins have a different approach than mainstream crypto projects, they offer advanced features to maintain anonymity. Buying it means being confident in the future of privacy & anonymity.

Amidst the increasing number of regulations that are beginning to regulate the crypto industry more specifically, privacy coins are also starting to attract the attention of the crypto public, which is what is causing their prices to start to rise as well. With all these conditions, I personally think privacy coins can be a good investment in the long term, because they're truly major alternative after Bitcoin (BTC).

The last time when it almost went 1k but couldn't, it was all hype for sure, no doubt in that. And we quickly saw how it couldn't hold it's position any longer and gradually reached the bottom low. I personally had some investments on it, made quick profits, but failed to exit the market at the right time, resulting in some loses. Now, with it's current position, if there is an another privacy coin trend, it might try to go up, but i don't think people would fooled again like the last time...i am being careful btw..

There's no hype on projects with a clear vision, mate. The decline in the price of Zcash (ZEC) is influenced by regulations that are not in their favor, moreover, as I said in the previous post, we shouldn't talk about the price for privacy coins, they're special for the original purpose they were created. Buy & hold if you believe in the future of privacy, it will be a thing of the future when a lot of centralized regulation & restrictions happen.

thanks for the comment everyone, thanks for the good comment, i actually did some investment on zec and looking to do more. i just wanna have ideas of what bt users thinking

That's what you got from that picture? If you repeat the pattern, you don't see it happening 4 years? If you are planning to buy now it might come back to these levels in ~4 years, and before that it might go under $20?

IF the same pattern keeps rhyming that is. Even if you don't believe in TA, it's quite obvious that this likely the worst possible time to buy ZEC. It might do some bounces soon, but after that you have few years to regret that bag.

I have many questions like these. I actually like the project, but I don’t know if I should invest.

It's all hype. All due to some influencers "shilling" it in the past. Now that the market is bearish, ZEC has been going all the way down the drain. It went from $674 down to $233.48 (market price at the time of this writing). If you thought privacy coins were going to remain popular for long, then you thought wrong. Governments hate privacy coins, so we should expect further dips in price over the long-term. Zcash might be the exception because it's not a true privacy coin. It has transparent addresses, by which exchanges and governments can track your coins on the Blockchain. Just like Bitcoin. Nearly all centralized exchanges require you to deposit ZEC using a t_address (which stands for transparent address). There are none which accept "shielded transactions".

Monero, on the other hand, is private by default. So there's no such thing as "transparent addresses" anyone can use to establish a link between your identity and your coins. Right now, Monero has a much higher price than Zcash. You can now see which coin is "winning". I'd advise you diversify between XMR and BTC for complete peace of mind. If you're still inclined into ZEC, then only invest a small amount to minimize your losses. Good luck.

I gues s it's a good invesmtent but price has been going down around 70% from ATH meaning the hype has winded down.
The  only risk you need to know is just like any other privacy coin, government might force CEX to delist and as a result it will lose some trading volume that could potentially drive the price down.

However, it seems ZEC has been fine with that. Needless to say everytime AML concern is being raised, ZEC will definitely pick some attention as its nature being privacy focused coins.
