Well no matter how the government restrictions could be citizens there must be citizens whose interest will center on diversifying the dream, either the do it secretly or openly there will always be a way out for people of such desire just like gambling must nation banned it but people from such nation still play or gamble, china must time can be playing smart showcasing banned it loss if interest in openly but learning the technology behind Bitcoin is some school, today most technically enhanced of china was not initial generated by them but learn from other and improve and develop their own I stand to be corrected, they can be learning to even to know more before lifting any banned or restrictions against crypto.

China does not prohibit individuals from holding Bitcoin, but it prohibits all commercial activities related to cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin mining, and all commercial activities such as trading, marketing, and promotion of cryptocurrencies. China's policies have always been like this, with no very clear regulations. Everything is ambiguous, and regulations change frequently, sometimes even changing due to a single statement from a high-ranking official.

It's not a question of whether formal methods are necessary; the question is what they actually teach. As I recall, the Chinese government strictly censors crypto-related digital content, such as on WeChat and TikTok.
Now, imagine being taught the components of a firearm perfectly, but being forbidden from using it for any purpose.

We can't see the future, can we? Their government might have banned Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies at the moment, but their stance could change in the future, and even if their stance doesn't change, those students are not restricted to only stay in China their whole life, they could relocate to some other country in the future, or they could go somewhere for studies or work or whatever, and if they have knowledge about Bitcoin, that could be useful for them if they ever decide to make investments in Bitcoin or become a part-time trader. So, knowledge can never go wasted no matter what, sometime in life your knowledge will be useful for you for sure.

One could say that they are only wasting their time and the time of their students by teaching them about Bitcoin when Bitcoin has been banned by their government, but I wouldn't agree with that, because I believe knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can always be useful today or in the future because cryptocurrencies are not going anywhere, and someone from any part of the world should have enough knowledge about them if they want to get involved in the future.

Well, this is already given when you say "Restrictions", as most of the restrictions, especially on this market, will just slow things down; they will not totally 100% stop anyone from doing it. You're right, for your example, the gambling thing. Crypto works the same way. China cracks down on it publicly, but they're still investing in blockchain for sure and might already be using some of it.

These children can come with an absolute solution for crypto in the future I am not against this at all, in fact this should be happening in every schools around the world as we speak.

The current developers we have aren't coming up with new solutions😩, they are mostly repeating the same or similar solutions that we already had and it's all getting boring.

Maybe, just maybe the future developers can have a better solution who knows?

In fact when it comes to Bitcoin, we think of China as being vehemently opposed to it because Bitcoin is banned in this country, yet they are in second place in terms of country-based Bitcoin holdings but in a surprising piece of news I noticed recently, students in this Asian country's mainland were being taught about Bitcoin earlier this year.

Surely those who have taken this initiative should be far-sighted because we can make some guesses their initiative may play a big role in spreading the Bitcoin acceptance rate among those young students in China.

Do you think China's initiative with Bitcoin is positive for them or will it lead to Bitcoin becoming widespread in their country?
I don’t think bitcoin is actually ban in china because how can bitcoin be banned but there are schools in china teaching about it to students, it does apply that the ban on bitcoin in china is not enforced or it’s just not true.
China are law abiding and if they make a law they will make people to abide by the law.
Maybe the ban comes with exceptions.
Undoubtedly, no matter how much the government restricts it, Chinese citizens want to diversify their dreams through Bitcoin, as can be seen from the content mentioned here because there are schools in China where students are taught about Bitcoin, so it's absurd in my opinion that this country is completely against Bitcoin. Moreover, it can undoubtedly be assumed that in the future, teaching Bitcoin in mainland China will teach them to solve and analyze the ultimate problems of crypto. At this point, you can see that this country has a lot of Bitcoin, maybe they have secretly mined it or confiscated it, so mainland China is teaching students about Bitcoin and they now have more than twelve million dollars in BTC stored.

What solutions do you want developers to come up with. The solutions to problems Artificial Intelligence is solving is causing people to have their jobs terminated.
But any solution is cryptocurrency that isn’t a disguised scam I will want to see that.
But many successful developers did not solve problems from the school some were unconformist who think out of the box learning from their computers.

Finance being thought at school has always been a thing that I support fully. Crypto is not something that you can teach them for many years, even one year would be too long, in one semester you can teach all they need to know.

But I still suggest 4 years of high school, where kids learn a finance/economics class, everyone should get it. One of those semesters could be about bitcoin, but rest should be basically about running your own finances and knowing how to use money instead of just earning and spending.

Do not be too excited.  The students may learn about Bitcoin this semester and then about why a Bitcoin ban is good the next.  Do we seriously expect real Bitcoin love coming from China?

I don't know if Chinese government has the manipulative attitude of keeping its citizens into the zombie reasoning or try to expose them to be more powerful on their own with latest innovations or something, do their government work this way?

I don't think so, but why the ban of Bitcoin if their government doesn't think so.

Do they think they are protecting them?

Chinese friends I have all doing crypto, is it because they are civilized? What about the people that aren't civilized, do they think about Bitcoin as a scam threat?

Do we need that to have Bitcoin educational exposure in mainland of China?
It's not a question of whether formal methods are necessary; the question is what they actually teach. As I recall, the Chinese government strictly censors crypto-related digital content, such as on WeChat and TikTok.
Now, imagine being taught the components of a firearm perfectly, but being forbidden from using it for any purpose.
Yep, context matters. Understanding how the tech works have nothing to do with using it. It equips them to talk about it as a phenomenon and that information also can protect people in the future so that scammers won't pray on them and manipulate them so easily.

Also, the underlying tone that used makes all the difference. You can hype it, or just talk about the tech.

But "it's the time of the year when China bans bitcoin again" is a meme for a reason.

It should be noted that China's ban primarily prohibit mining, speculation related to crypto and their use as a mean of payment. They have never issued any ban related to the use and development of blockchain technology

Cryptocurrency speculation and blockchain applications are two different field. They are only banning and cracking down on speculative activitie and decentralized blockchain they cannot control.

Blockchain technology has many practical application, not just in speculation as we are doing today

From their activities, it looks like they are not really concerned about strictly banning bitcoin and mining. On one side, bitcoin mining is declared illegal but at the same time, students are openly being taught to learn about bitcoin. If they were serious about enforcing the ban, this kind of open learning wouldn’t be happening. The government also hasn’t taken strong action on it, so it feels like they may be moving gradually toward allowing bitcoin legally in china.
Hopefully they legalize it, owning bitcoin should be the right for every people as it is akin to owning gold. Bitcoin is just like any other asset and there is a good opportunity for people in bitcoin.
Baning bitcoin doesn't really make a lot of sense for a high tech country because the technology itself is cutting edge and it is very possible that everyone in the future will use the blockchain technology, at least that's my opinion.

I can see great things coming out of countries that adopt bitcoin and create opportunity around it such as improvement in taxes, and many more.

In October 2019, Chinese president Xi Jinping in his speech in 2019 said that in industry blockchain has vital role to play and he stress the need to expand and improve its applications. There is also increase in price of Bitcoin after this speech of Chinese president. This is also true that crypto is ban in China and as of Feb 2026, China has taken more hard stance on it's crypto ban. Now Chinese authorities are also targeting the tokenization of real-world assets and unauthorized stablecoins linked to national currency.

A few pictures from one classroom don’t give us much context, so I really wouldn’t read too much into sensationalist headlines trying to make people think that this is some official government endorsement of Bitcoin. This might have been just one small part of a bigger lesson on finance, but regardless, it is still great to see people learn about Bitcoin from early on.

Despite their strict regulations, Bitcoin can’t be stopped, so I expect many Chinese people will continue learning about it and eventually become adopters. Right now China is trying to promote their own digital currency. As people become accustomed to transacting in digital currencies, I can imagine some of them are probably going to see Bitcoin as a preferable alternative for their needs.

I do hear people say that China doesn't give a fuck about Bitcoin cause their government do place bans on it and I laugh cause if they don't care they won't be mining seriously or be one of the biggest holders, I wonder why anyone would think that with how advanced China was gone in tech they won't consider Bitcoin.
As you can see they're putting themselves in a better position to benefit from Bitcoin in the future and are now teaching students to have knowledge about it, according to your post. That's a welcome development and learning about Bitcoin at a younger age is the best thing those kids can do for themselves

This is really interesting, Bitcoin has become an asset that majority of the people and countries are so much interested in. China is high in technology, they must have also discovered they will stand to loose a lot if they should do without bitcoin. This is not only taking place in china, but globally, bitcoin education has become the interest of people as they look for an alternative way to sustain their currency value and also grow their investment on the long run. It is something very necessary to educate our children on bitcoin, they should be able to know what Bitcoin is, how it works and possibly the technology  behind it.
This knowledge will actually guide them on how to navigate through their bitcoin investing and possibly make exploit in bitcoin investing.
When children starts investing very early, it helps them a lot, they know longer grow to face financial difficulty.

They did banned it years ago and also the icos that was related to cryptocurrencies. But later, you'll notice them have the biggest holdings globally and many of the crypto billionaires are from China.

It seems that they're pranking the world about the first actions they took for banning. Well, they can always change for the better right?

Or this time, they're only showing some signs of what their stance really is and that means that they're ok for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Education Introduced in Mainland China Schools
I don't know for sure whether Bitcoin is completely banned in China, but I wonder how China would be in second place in terms of holdings if Bitcoin was completely banned in China. However, in any case, it may be officially approved in China, but everyone can use Bitcoin, and because they can use Bitcoin, students in mainland China are being taught about Bitcoin. Teaching students about Bitcoin is not a bad initiative, it is a very good initiative because students will take themselves a long way by learning about Bitcoin. Whenever Bitcoin is taught in the country, a country will definitely move forward. But finally, I want to say that China's initiative on Bitcoin will be positive for them on both sides.

This news seems about 15 years too late. Chinese students have already been learning about Bitcoin since 2011. There's even a dedicated subforum for them here. Grin

The news looks like clickbait, especially considering the account that shared it. We see this kind of stuff all the time on social media. Bitcoin could become a topic in classes in China or anywhere else in the world, maybe as part of economics courses. But it's still too early for that. It doesn't even have a 20 year history yet after all.
