For me, i feel we mostly put our blame in the system and our leaders but we also need to ask ourselves this question if our mindset and daily actions will change when things improve and gets better. Growth is not just about better leadership but better habit as well. My own point of view though. For example many people complain about corruption but still offer bribes to get things done faster. So ask yourself if Nigeria changes tomorrow, will that habit stop? Another example is about road and traffic order, people complain about bad roads and bad system but we have some people who drive against traffic and ignores the rules of traffic. So if the roads become better, will people suddenly follow the traffic rules and regulations? Lastly, even in our work place some people want better payment rise but still show up late to work or give there best in what they do at work. Will this attitude change if Nigeria gets better?
My point is real progress is not just about the country getting better, it is also about people being ready to get and act better. If the mindset stays the same, the same problem can still come back.

Did you know that if a country have a good leaders there is no one that can go against the law? them no born anybody well wey be say they will go against law because they will not even think of doing anything that will go against the law, you forget the word that says a good leaders should be a good example, if the leaders showed good examples to the citizens no matter how e be the people go dey use their brain to do better thing even if not be all people.

And for the bribe wey you dey talk that one from the leaders, who start the bribery and from where you think say the thing start? Na from the leaders, so if them stop and they do the needful and make things easier for the country people are going to change, I know that it is not everyone that will change easily like that but 80% percent of people go change if the leaders change.

I will say a big Yes to your question, if Nigeria gets better tomorrow things will be done differently and in a better and corrupt free way, the reason why Nigeria is like this today is because of the bad leaders we have and the corruption that has eaten deep into the system, the government has about 80% of work that needs to be done to Shape the betterment of the country and the citizens after which the people will improve because they have seen changes and they will have to adapt to the new changes that has come to stay, people bribe to get what they want because the government has made it so.

For example, without connection or a godfather in politics people hardly get jobs and that has promoted corruption and paying to get things done has become a norm. I believe if the system is right and things are done properly every sector in the country will always change, the change we need starts from the top which are the leaders and how they govern us determines the changes and our behavioral patterns in the society.

If Nigeria was to become a country with a good system of governments, then surely people will abide to the rule of laws of the country. One of the things that I noticed on why people do illegal stuff and get away with it, is because alot of our police men are underpaid. Some are even owed. If the Nigeria government decides to work fix these issues on their armed forces by paying them well, and hold them accountable, things can change. With that corruption will reduce, Citizens will now abide to rules and regulations and anyone who decides not to abide by it will be arrested. Before you know Nigeria will be different and peaceful, but technically not fully peaceful.

Your questions is in prospect, the truth is Nigeria can’t get better if the citizens themselves don’t change their approach and how they behave, how they interact, how they obey laws etc, Nigeria is the citizens, Nigeria can’t change if me and you don’t change, when people keep on saying government most times i laugh because who is the government we always refer to? it’s still me and you, most people occupying official positions in government are still one way related to us either direct or distant families, some are still our friends, some are our godfather’s and boss etc.

The reason top government officials in Nigeria act the way they do most at times is because even the masses themselves ain’t ready for a change or revolution yet, the police officers standing on the road and taken #100 naira ain’t they common people like me and you that should be fighting for integrity and trying to protect the law, the bus drivers and other petty business men that uses any little chance they get to inflate prices ain’t they common people like me and you? What about those that sell their vote because of peanuts that they offer them during election, the truth is Nigeria can’t change because even the citizens and poor masses that claim they want a change are even more wicked and corrupt than the leader’s.

Our government will keep on playing the masses until we are really ready for a revolution, don’t let anyone deceive you the truth is in Nigerians both the leaders and masses ain’t ready for a change yet because everyone seems to be benefiting one way or the other from the corruption, parents even teach their kids how to be corrupt from very tender age by either lobbying one way or the other for them, some even send their children sorting money now in universities, so tell me how Nigeria can change. Nothing will change because Nigeria is not a person, it’s humans that effects change and the humans in Nigeria ain’t ready to effect any change.

When there are nobody to receive the bribe there will be nobody offering the bribes. The people are offering the bribes because there are those that available to take the bribe. Let there be death penalties for the person offering bribes and those taking the bribes and let the enforcement of the sentence be done publicly so everybody will see it and you will see how the system will change immediately.

If the country becomes better, and the laws are working to the point that once you go against the law you will pay the penalty irrespective of who you are. If the masses see that people who go against traffic rules are getting punished and sentenced without officials compromising, everyone will adjust. Leadership is the main thing that gives direction to the people. When the people notice that the leaders are not willing and ready to enforce the laws, the people will do whatever they like because know they will get away with it without consequences. But once they know that their are immediate consequences for their offenses, everyone will adjust.
