Using crypto for a political donation is not a bad idea to me it's a welcome development but, we should be careful with politicians because, Politics is one thing that brings a lot of drama. Transparency should be the watch word when trying to bring donations via crypto to a political movement. This is to avoid scams and donations that will come from illegal sources, that should be the basis on which political donations should be done.

Adding to this, I wouldn't be involved in any donations where the politicians are involved because I don't trust them, especially in my part of the world. Other than this, yeah, the donation in crypto isn't a bad idea, and if I were a part of the government and wanted to adopt crypto, it is a good idea to accept donations in crypto. In short, as long as the donations are used in the right manner with honesty, it doesn't matter if they are done in crypto or in fiat.

Do you think that cryptocurrencies political donations is a bad idea? Why do you think so?
Since many cryptocurrencies are traceable why is some politicians in house of rep so against this? Lack of trust? Battle for the supporting part? Or simple hatred for cryptocurrencies?
Do you think crypto should be used this way or it's wrong?
Cryptocurrency is money and can be used as the owner wishes. If what I have to donate is Bitcoin, why should I be restricted from donating it? Not all crypto transactions can be traceable. I would even prefer to donate Bitcoin because I want my donations to be pseudonymous. Bank transfer donations could be easily be traced and the donor identified. Political opponents could witch-hunt a donor because they supported another party. Those who oppose crypto have their reasons for that. They might not understand it or are not just comfortable with it. Some people just condemn Bitcoin, but they don't consider the other benefits of Bitcoin. They condemn Bitcoin because of just one aspect they think about, forgetting that criminals also make use of fiat, and no one has been able to trace them with fiat or how it has been used. I think those who believe Bitcoin is primarily used for illegality should also understand the privacy in Bitcoin and why it is important in our present time. When we hear people like this speak we shouldn't be bothered because they only express their self about bitcoin based on the level of their understanding.

Why would it be wrong? It just depends on whether both sending and receiving parties are agreed to use cryptocurrencies for the donations, but if the receiver is not ready to accept cryptocurrencies for donations, there is no point, and the donator can't even do it if they have no way to send the funds. If a politician decides that they will also accept cryptocurrency donations, they will have QR codes or addresses where people can send their donations, and that isn't going to make cryptocurrencies or the people involved wrong, after all, cryptocurrencies can always be used just like other normal currencies to send and receive funds, the only difference is that cryptocurrencies are not that widely accepted for now. Now, only the politicians that refuse to accept cryptocurrencies as donations can actually reveal the reason behind their rejection, but we can only make assumptions that maybe they do it because they don't have any knowledge about cryptocurrencies and they believe they can be reversed or something, or maybe they don't want to accept cryptocurrencies because the laws and constitutions of their country don't allow it yet, and they would definitely not want to go against the system when they are willing to become a part of it.

Whoever could control the donation would be a target point, and that such person could do nothing to the fund since Bitcoin transactions is transparent on the blockchain explorer. That is the reason why politicians hate using crypto for public usage, they themselves knows themselves as theives, so allow donations via crypto would let them do their job diligently without cheating, which they wouldn't want.

They are bad if they're donated to the bad politicians because they'll only spend it for their luxuries. But if that's donated to the right ones and in a good cause, that's not questionable. Anyway, these politicians will always get funding to wherever source they're getting it. And the government itself won't question that especially if they're into such corruption. I'm afraid that this is proliferated for many countries that have the system in favor of the politicians instead of the people who are working hard to make their lives better and not to help these politicians through their taxes.

If it's for funding or donors it shouldn't be a problem. I saw how Trump got support from many crypto or Bitcoin leaders during his campaign even with large amounts, this no one has a problem because it is something that can be done, I don't know which conservative country the OP is talking about, they are really behind this very advanced era.
The question is whether you will stay in a place where you don't accept good things as a way to have a more advanced life, I think as long as it meets the rules and doesn't break the law in other forms then it's fine.

Do you think that cryptocurrencies political donations is a bad idea? Why do you think so?
Crypto can be used for any kind of donation. So, there is nothing wrong with crypto political donation. We can't limit crypto to use in a certain donation only. It is impossible. Since many cryptocurrencies are traceable why is some politicians in house of rep so against this? Lack of trust? Battle for the supporting part? Or simple hatred for cryptocurrencies?
In the past, they didn't like crypto because they didn't invest in crypto and they didn't understand it. Nowadays, most politicians have understood crypto and its benefits for human life. Some of them even join crypto investment as well. So, there is no way that they are against crypto anymore now. Do you think crypto should be used this way or it's wrong?
Crypto has multi-functions. There is nothing wrong to use crypto for donation. IMO, as long as it isn't for illegal matters, it is good to use crypto for any purposes.

Blockchain is so transparent and permanent, you'll know the consequences of using it. This is especially true if there's a split in the political community or political opponents become the ones in power who want to find fault. While this is good for non-political actors for distributed oversight, iit's bad for the "continuity" of their reputations. I'm not surprised they'd reject it. lol

Do you think that cryptocurrencies political donations is a bad idea? Why do you think so?
It can be a strategy to increase political engagement and familiarity with the economic revolution. A great attempt to spread the self developed coin crypto market. Such activities are a great way to increase engagement with economic foresight. Since many cryptocurrencies are traceable why is some politicians in house of rep so against this? Lack of trust? Battle for the supporting part? Or simple hatred for cryptocurrencies?
Do you think crypto should be used this way or it's wrong?
Some representative demonstrate monopolistic bad arguments due to insufficient regulatory framework. They are afraid to associate themselves with an independent financial system. Gradually folk are realizing this weak trick of theirs and are leaning towards an independent financial system, emphasizing their own interests.

Politics has impact on the economy and people are convinced by political people which could change the market trends and people can change their trust on different things and also on cryptocurrency as we saw in the past when Elon musk took hold of the market when he said he will accept the Bitcoin and after that statement millions of people invested in cryptocurrency because they know that he was a sectary of Donald trump and Donald trump took suggestions from him in the past but now he is billionaire who has influence on huge of people who want to be multi millionaire because he changed the market and now he is inventing new things in the market which will make him more successful in the market.

Cryptocurrency transactions can be versatile and in the current context, its use has increased in many cases. Bitcoin's acceptance in intra-business transactions has increased and will increase in the future. Cryptocurrency transactions as political donations are not new and have even been seen in the US elections. If you have crypto, you can use it for any purpose and there is certainly freedom in that. Some lawmakers oppose cryptocurrencies due to their ignorance because they believe that it is not easy to monitor a decentralized financial system but where every record is automatically secured. Their fear is only about not regulating cryptocurrencies because strategically the government can increase the supply as the demand for fiat increases but the supply of Bitcoin and others top coin is limited to a certain limit.

I don't know much about using cryptocurrency to make donations for campaigns and political matters but I assume that it won't be a problem because I remember some donors made donations with Bitcoin during Trump election. Any politicians that are against crypto donations for elections must have skeletons in their cupboards because they wouldn't want the trace of their donations to be seen publicly on a Blockchain. Whether politicians or anybody is against Bitcoin for any reasons whether political or not it doesn't stop it from being a store of value, anybody can make their donations in Bitcoin if it's allowed or they can swap to fiat and do what they want.
During the US last political campaigns and elections, there were crypto donations from prominent people from crypto to many political candidate in the United state and today most of these people are in their offices. This donations doesn't give only money but it also gives exposure to people. When donations are make to any political candidates, everyone in crypto space knows about them and since they are crypto ambitious, the bitcoin community end up supporting them til they win. There is nothing wrong in political donations, let make Bitcoin and crypto as alternative means to what they want to do because crypto is money, if there is no crypto donation and fiat is the only way, people will have to sell their crypto to fiat before they can make political donations and since crypto donations are seeing as gift, they are not taxable. This is one big advantage of crypto, this awareness will make crypto grow across many place with unique applications.

We adopt as though it were only a matter of adding, adding, adding, as though it could not turn back or stop or go off track ten years. I concur with the versatility argument. I genuinely do. The infrastructure is a reality, the possibilities have increased manifold. However, there is a difference between CAN be used in anything and IS being used in anything. Majority of token holders are still holding, waiting, checking the price on their phone too many times a day. The crypto community as a whole dropped this discussion on the regulation aspect by viewing any regulatory action as tyranny. Some of it is, for sure. The desire to fight against government encroachment on monetary space is valid, with a historical basis to it. However, the ICO era occurred. Three Arrows happened. FTX happened. Hundreds of millions lost, retail was wiped out time and again. The reaction of some sections of the community was more or less that that was the price of freedom. It is a tough sell to a person who lost his savings. Freedom is something to fight. The profound kind of real, structural financial freedom (the type that allows the purchasing power of someone in a nation with 80% inflation to persist) is that. That does make a difference in the aspects that are utterly overlooked in most crypto discussions.

Most of the politicians are old, they have no idea how the banking system works, only few of them have the clear idea about the system, and others are just following orders from above.
The one who is at the top must know why giving freedom to the people to use the decentralized money which can't be controlled and not printed anymore like the paper money, so they want to curb the adoption in every possible way. In the beginning, they tried to ban Bitcoin, but any sensible person who got an idea about how the Bitcoin networks operate will accept that banning Bitcoin is not an option anymore.
So instead, they introduce high taxes, strict regulations for crypto platforms, and more questions from tax agencies when they deal with crypto, so it is like a way of threatening them to stop using it.

I thinks majority of the problem comes from the fact that they cant control crypto or bend it according to their will. And politicians like power, however bitcoin and other coins make them look powerless so they fuel all the rage to it without considering the good side of it. Bitcoin wasn't created so that everyone would accept it for being decentralized infact most people the only bad thing they have to say about bitcoin is the fact it is decentralized and they pay blind eye to how centralized system has helped in ruining alot of things and sets so many boundaries.

Has that not being the case or being going on already? With America going to the polls, wasn’t their a time when Kamela Harris was linked to some cryptocurrency donations or something… Note:I had to look that up though and I did find that, she never directly accepted cryptocurrency donations but, one of the key groups backing her in 2024, Super PAC did and through the donations gathered by this body was used in support of candidates.Which indeed means, the laws aren’t really in agreement and as politicians would have it, their is always a loophole to exploit in this.

Since donations can be made through crypto in politics even if the government or bank prevents it and in some cases the donor can do it by hiding his identity, I think it is safe for the donor, but since donations can be made from anywhere in the world, it can interfere in the politics of any country, so in one sense it is bad. However, everything has its good and bad sides and it is important to see in which case its user uses it.

You're right about Bitcoin's (and some other coins) transparency exposing politicians' moves on the Blockchain. But they can always opt for privacy-oriented cryptocurrencies. I mean, there's no law in the US prohibiting this. Not that I'm aware of. Privacy coins are still legal in the US, although using them will raise suspicion. In countries where crypto is "banned", it would be unwise for a politician to accept donations in crypto (whenever it's transparent or private). Crypto is growing in popularity each day, so this might change in the future.
