A 52 year old suspected drug peddler collapsed and died shortly after being arraigned at the Federal High Court in Benin city. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) denies allegation of negligence, stating the woman was fit for trial. The suspect was arrested for allegedly selling a substance suspected to be a hard drug.

Here is the news:Suspected drug peddler slumps, dies in Edo court , more details : https://www.beloud.com/news/130916286

I feel this woman is not innocent, otherwise she would have defended herself. Maybe she was afraid she would be jailed and may be the reason why she collapsed.
Selling of this hard drugs has kept some people mentally deranged, more especially the youths, and i encourage the court of law to severely punish whoever that is taking part in selling illegal drugs.

What is your opinion on this?

I get your point especially with how harmful hard drug have been particularly to young people but I don’t think it is fair to conclude she wasn’t innocent just because she couldn’t defend herself. People react differently under pressure, fear, shock or even health issue can make someone collapse especially in a tense situation like being in court. At the same time I agree that the NDLEA have a big role to play in the society and things like drug trafficking should be dealt with properly but for me the most important thing here is balance, Justice should be served but every case is ought to be handled with care and proper investigation especially when something like this happens. So fight drug is very important but we should also be careful not to judge too quickly without knowing the full story or because someone can’t defend his/herself.

Yeah, i got the news how a lady identify as Titilayo 52years old from edo slump and dies in edo federal high court. At times i wonder the kind of mind some lady got being involved in pushing of drugs, now she got arrested and detained in NDLEA custody, just arranging her before the law court she slump and died straigh. We can really tell if she's innocent in this case, i believe there must be an evidence before she was arrested, in other side i blamed the NDLEA for not checking her body system before taking her to the court, and i guess the case is over now right.
