I will say this issue of housing is something that deserves serious attention because it is among the most important things all humans needs for survival.
Housing is one thing with the greatest concern now because I can't tell why it is constantly increasing in price on daily basis especially in urban areas, I don't know if i will say its because of population increases or the wickedness of humans as i see know reason why landlords will start increasing the prices of houses built 10 - 20 years ago blaming the increment in price of commodities when they did not buy anything  now that the prices of things has increased.
To find i permanent solution to it, i think the price control system should be adopted especially for nations that have an existing structure layed down to help provide solution to it.

You raised a valid concern. Housing is a basic human need, yet it has become increasingly unaffordable for many people, especially in urban areas. While population growth, inflation, and rising construction costs all contribute to higher rents, some landlords also take advantage of the situation by increasing prices far beyond what is reasonable.

Price control may help in some cases, but it works best when combined with policies that encourage more housing development, improve access to affordable homes, and protect tenants from unfair rent increases. Addressing the housing crisis requires both responsible government policies and fairness from property owners.

I don't blame that of landlords constantly increasing there rent, assuming Nigeria as a country has plans for citizens all those  nonsense would have been been controlled because adequate provisions would have been made just like it is in some civilised countries.
In Nigeria today, no matter the policy introduced in regards to rent price control it can never work because you can never enforce such law on landlords when there is no alternative incase they go against it. Just like what happened in mali some time ago, after the rehabilitation that took place in some cement factory although those factories where not state owned, they went ahead to place a price control policy on cement knowing they have alot to sell to the public incase most private sectors says know to it. So for price control to work, the Nigerian government most make provision for accommodation incase the landlords say know to it so citizens will have a place to stay.

Landlords are not the problem in this country. Na the government no wan help matters at all. The government don make us suffer too much for this country and later them go talk say them wan renew our hope. Renew hope untop wetin? Untop houses wey don expensive abi on top building materials wey don skyrocket for prices. Even if the landlords wan they do anyhow shey the government suppose intervene immediately. Stop all these nonsense wahala but today na them they even enable the whole thing. These our government people are just simply looking for their own money and do not care whether we are in good condition or not.

The rising cost of housing in Nigeria is a problem that needs attention. Because people can no longer afford to pay for good accommodation, they're forced to live in slums-residential areas that are detrimental to their health, as these places has limited access to clean water and sanitation amongst other leading to high exposure to diseases due to poor hygiene and waste management. Although there are factors that actually contributed to this increase likely scarcity of houses, cost of acquiring a land, construction cost and maintenance etc there's a government in place that's supposed to regulate all these, at times I wonder what the ministry of housing and urban development is for.

You’re right, the cost of housing has become too much for average Nigerians. When rent and building materials keep going up, people have no choice but to move to areas with poor housing, no good water, and bad waste management. Like you said, that’s a health risk for everyone.

I think the problem comes from different angles, scarcity of land in cities, high cost of building materials, and even demand from a growing population. But in my opinion the government also has a role to play through policy.
Government and private sector partnerships to build low and middle income houses just to reduce rent increases, Some form of monitoring so landlords don’t just double rent every year and the issue of agent fees should be abolished i believed
it will be  difficult to fixed overnight, but if the Ministry of Housing works with stakeholders, things can get better.

Right now too many people are struggling just to get a decent roof over their head. The government can also be of help by reducing price of cement to an affordable price for citizens

If government cant control the prices of building materials, make I no lie give u dem no fit control house rent in d country. Just enter building material market and see d price wey dem go Dey call building materials for u. For my side as of today cement na 11,800 per 1. Just imagine say u wan build house, how many bags of cement u go use, we never talk about other building materials.

If government really wan help, make dem first go crash building materials, so if landlords no come reduce their own house rent, then dem fit mount pressure on dem, but if dem no crash building material price, nothing wey dem fit do.

Agent are also behaving as if they're landlords because after settling the house rent the agent will also be telling you the percentage you will pay them and even if there is an increment from landlord the agent also do the same. Due to the money that's coming out of being an agent a lot of people are going into it instead of working, most of the agent has raised there fees to %20, so actually if the house a person is renting is cost 5 million naira that means only the agent would be taking 1 million naira for something they did not spend anything or stress themselves, actually what those people are benefiting is not right.

Nice suggestion guy, there are reasons why this will not work in Nigeria except we have a good leader who understands and takes the full responsibility of leadership, the people you call leaders have their own houses where they are taking rents from, they are even happy that the rent is increasing, Tinubu is one of the richest landlords in African, he have houses e everywhere, he won't want to build affordable houses for anybody and the reaons has already been stated, if the government are ready for such, it simple because the money is there, if you can Remember the price of cement before Tinubu assumed office as the president, such knowledge will explain things better for you that it was a calculated plan that has been implemented, I will tell you for free that the government knows how to solve this problem because of their selfish interest.
