On January 10, 2009, when responding to an email from Hal Finney, Satoshi leaked his IP address which pointed to Van Nuys, California. Perhaps this is the most reliable geographical clue about where Satoshi was during the creation of Bitcoin. Upon further research, I discovered that the identified provider was COVAD COMMUNICATIONS located in Van Nuys, CA. As technical details we have that the IP address associated with Satoshi was 68.164.57.219, with reverse DNS pointing to h-68-164-57-219.lsanca54.dynamic.covad.net, it was an ADSL connection (broadband via telephone line), which is consistent with residential use at the time.
Since it was an ADSL connection with dynamic IP, the address could have been assigned to any Covad subscriber in that region that day, meaning the clue points to Van Nuys but does not identify the specific subscriber with absolute certainty.

Given this, did Satoshi reside in Van Nuys, CA? Was Bitcoin created in California?
Or was all this just on purpose to make your traceability even more difficult?
