As early as the comprehensive stage of life, the female child in most African countries is taught and made to believe that a woman is successful if she gets married at a certain range of age, gives birth to her children and care for her household. This makes the young women growing in such countries to focus on achieving this and as such put much effort in getting a responsible and successful man to marry and live happily ever after. Well that's not always the case as life doesn't always give what we want and since we can't settle for less we find ourselves being single at an advance age. Besides feeling unloved and worthless as society makes you believe, the pressure from families and friends, always asking when you will marry and why you're still single, the assumptions that you're too picky or desperate, the social exclusion that comes with positions where couples are needed makes you bitter and depression and as such gets easily irritated by the slightest of things.
I suggest that children should be brought up the same way, to be self-sufficient and independent regardless of sex. The truth should be told to our female children that not all people will be opportune to marry and being single doesn't mean you've failed, they should be directed to build a future for themselves.
We should protect the mental health of our female children!
