The poverty rate in Nigeria is too much, it's a sad truth but that's a fact, many people don't care about investments, they bother more about survival or making quick money that's why they don't think of going into Bitcoin cause they can't wait for so long for a better chance of being wealthy.

Another thing is ignorance, many people are ignorant of how the volatility of Bitcoin works, they don't know they can use the DCA and volatility won't be a burden to whatever they invest in Bitcoin, it's not like shitcoins that dumps without being able to recover. It's kinda surprising because the current value of Bitcoin from what it used to be like is enough reveal the potential of Bitcoin in a lengthy time frame to anyone.
You are right , Many are ignorant and some are impatient, many Nigerians can’t  be patient to accumulate bitcoins for that years , with the rate of hunger and suffering in the land , May people are just looking for quick money , at least to survive first , but investing in Bitcoin has a lot of discipline, consistency and must have a job that generates income ,so investing for that long  duration won’t be easy , most time is ignorance , they lack awareness that is why it looks like many Nigerians are doubting Bitcoin investment despite the growth.

I mean I could be wrong, so if you believe the doubt isn't there, please fell free to share.
Bro crypto, ponzi and investment scams don show Nigerians shegge. My people say anybody way snake don bite, him go run if him see earthworm.

Some Nigerians no dey believe Bitcoin as an asset or currency because dem think say na scam. If I begin count different scams way Nigerians don suffer, my list go long like Kalabari or Igbo marriage list.

So people dey fear to invest in anything online because these things don show dem pepper like Tunubu governemnt.

So I want to ask, in 2026, why is the doubt Bitcoin in Nigeria still at large?

I mean I could be wrong, so if you believe the doubt isn't there, please fell free to share.
Point of correction please, if you still have doubt about Bitcoin, please stop categorizing it as if it's all Nigerians that are having doubt about Bitcoin. Because if in case you don't know, Nigeria has always been among the top countries that has the highest number of Bitcoin investors worldwide for the past 6years, since 2020 when people started investing in it and trading it as a digital assets. Ans secondly, Nigeria once top the chart as the country with the highest p2p trade volume on Binance in 2022/2023 when Binance p2p was still working here in Nigeria. So please, if you or people around your community are just new to Bitcoin, please stop generalizing it next time. While secondly, the volatile nature of Bitcoin has absolutely nothing to do with discouraging anybody if truly they understand what Bitcoin represents. Because for the fact that it's price falls today, it will still also rise back too.

I think the OP is right because despite the fact that a lots of Nigerians are investing in bitcoin, they are still a lots of people who find it very difficult to believe in it, in fact some people think that bitcoin is a scam and some of them will never believe you no matter what. Nigeria is a developing country and I believe by the means of time they will get to believe in P2P transactions.

But actually, the volatile nature of bitcoin shouldn't be the reason why someone will withdraw his decision of investing in bitcoin, everything has cons and pros, and I personally, when it comes to making decisions I will weigh both the advantages and the disadvantages, but if has to do with something sensitive like bitcoin I would focus on the advantages rather than the disadvantages and acquire the necessary knowledge that will provide long-term opportunities for me in the world of cryptocurrency.

Doubt in investing bitcoin is not solely based on bitcoin criticism or anything fault from bitcoin but a basic self doubt, people are not really confident enough to put into some kind of investment and especially when the investment is overly used or popular, some good investors always put money in things that we the mere Nigerians can hear about until they are cashing out already so, for big investors in Nigeria you might thing they have doubt for bitcoin but before you are informed about bitcoin they probably have made fortunes out of it but the average Nigerian is not afraid but have self doubt not doubt in bitcoin.

Bitcoin investment is not something to announce publicly, to some that like privacy chose to silently accumulate ,   it’s more of  private to some ,  so you don’t expect everyone involved to list out there names , so I don’t think Nigerian are doubting it , those who knows the value has started there accumulation journey, saying the doubt in Nigeria is large , shows that you have a statistic to prove at least to support this belief, awareness is the major thing , and many are aware now and many are into Bitcoin investment now , i have seen youths of Nigeria talking about it and it’s spreading, so why saying many are still doubting it , that is not true .

Maybe the op think compare to other country many people are still doubting Bitcoin which is not really bad for saying that.

However, you said one major thing that stop many people from investing in bitcoin, we have many people who actually know well about bitcoin but can’t invest because they don’t have money to do that. And I think youths are struggling to eat daily because of the country economy, you can see that none of them will boarder to invest in bitcoin even if they know about.

Another thing is that investment is not something you will tell the public you have , so there is still some people who are accumulating bitcoin but don’t show off, I know many people like that are they are Nigerians.
You got a valid point there , compared to other countries, he may be right to an extent

You see that struggle part , it’s not really easy on the youth with the economy of the country it could also be a major reason why many hasn’t started, I don’t think it’s all about doubting it alone , when people are striving for survival investing in Bitcoin May not even be a major thing for them to do .

So many persons like privacy , anything to bring to the public is not part of their styles, some youths can secretly be investing without the notice of the public , so me I don’t feel Nigeria are still doubting Bitcoin investment but I believe so many factors contributed to it aside all this one listed here .

I don't think it is ignorance they are all aware of the tremendous growth Bitcoin has recorded over the years. Ask an average Nigerian to choose between Bitcoin and Naira they will obviously pick Bitcoin. I thin the problem is the patience and lack of funds. For those with stable income investing won't be much of a challenge for them but the average earner will want a quick payment scheme so the can easily sort out their bills because bitcoin investment won't give them that quick returns.

Doubting Bitcoin is normal, especially for those who are not core Bitcoiners or are not used to the investing world, and the reason for that is not far-fetched.
Bitcoin, which would hit a peak that people were celebrating, could shed over 70% of its total gain in some months afterwards. How many asset classes do that? People generally fear crypto since they are wired as such and meant to behave so.

Here is how it gets trickier, for the fact that Bitcoin rose back last season doesn't guarantee that it will rise back this season. That uncertainty alone is why people would never trust Bitcoin until it proves itself again and again.

Surely you understand that to invest in Bitcoin, one must have an income-generating job, if every Nigerian who is investing has this, then maybe they will not have to worry about investing in Bitcoin. Look at the rate of hunger or suffering in the country, many nigerian person may be impatient to hold on to Bitcoin investment for so many years, but even then, the prerequisite for success in this investment is to hold it for a long time in a systematic manner.

Moreover, according to my knowledge, these people may be running in search of quick profits and want to make their money by investing in this currency but that is not possible in a short time, however, we can say that this mentality may be created due to ignorance among many.

You may be fortunate to have come across the information of Bitcoin and be in a position where you are able to believe it but it is not the same with everyone because there are people who surprisingly have not heard anything concerning cryptocurrency or even Bitcoin And even if they heard about it they've not really taken it seriously because there in an environment where such things are not taken seriously and they are under the influence of environmental factors. This is the case of some Nigerians and the reason why you can still find some people doubting the credibility of Bitcoin even in 2026.

Many things nai dey make dem behavior like dat. Nd I don't think the youth is doubting again but the old and the religious leaders. A d they are doubting because the way Ponzi Schemes were rampage in the country were something else. Those are still afraid of the crypto has been scammed in many occasions so foe them to automatically believe on bitcoin is still giving them wahala. But once di government approve am, di doubt go reduce well well.

I mean there has been growth, yes, but alot of Nigerians still have doubts about Bitcoin even though it has grown over the years and gained more attention globally, well a lot of this doubt comes from how unstable the price can be and of course also from past stories of people losing money. In a way we can say some people don’t fully understand how Bitcoin works, so they just see it as something risky or even like a gamble, instead of a real asset that they can grow, you know.

Here is the thing, even with all this growth and awareness, the doubt is still there, especially among new or I would say average investors. So I want to ask, in 2026, why is the doubt Bitcoin in Nigeria still at large?

I mean I could be wrong, so if you believe the doubt isn't there, please fell free to share.

No matter how you bitcoin has changed over and over again there are still some people who will not invest in it, we are talking about my country wey be say everybody dey like anything wey be Awufu, no be everybody get mind to put money say he dey buy bitcoin because na everything we dey carry as a scam, even if you explain give some people from now till tomorrow they will never believe you because they no like waiting them go put money come talk say you go hold for a long time.

Another reason wey be say people no dey value bitcoin upon all the hype wey bitcoin get be say no be everybody get money to invest in bitcoin, how many people you see in Nigeria that are capable of investing in bitcoin when the country is not good, some people are fighting for what they will eat and wey they have the money they will rather use it to buy food for the future than bitcoin because they think food is the best thing to buy, i will not blame any Nigeria that did not buy bitcoin because the way things dey go for this country nobody fit invest now unless you get too much money and better way wey you dey make am.

Please can you share a link or reference on where you saw that Nigerians still doubt? I'm not saying there aren't a few people who haven't adopted bitcoin, but saying that a lot of people haven't adopted it may not be true.the rate of crisis and poverty in the country, I think should be a major factor why people might not be bothering about cryptocurrency. Only those who probably have alot of money at hand would want to worry over investment. People right now are more concerned about survival and feeding of their family members. so investing in bitcoin may not cross their mind even once.
The truth is, there are Nigerians who still doubting Bitcoin. But, when it comes to adoption about 3 to 6 percent of Nigeria total population have adopted Bitcoin, as in they trust Bitcoin more than traditional services like Banks and so on.

What you said can also be the reason why some Nigerians have not started investing in bitcoin yet, because na who chop belle full, or who get peace of mind will think of Bitcoin investment.

And another reason why some Nigerians are still doubting Bitcoin, is because Bitcoin is not properly regulated by the government. Assuming our government is into Bitcoin, like the way El Salvador government is into Bitcoin am sure it will boost the confidence of those Nigerians who are still doubting Bitcoin.

Nigeria dey rotate between 2nd and 3rd for highest crypto adoption for the world. E no mean say the whole of the country dey invested in bitcoins, we still get people way no care about anything way get to do with digital investments. Those people way experience the collapse of mmm and other ponzis dey skeptical to put their money for anything online, even if them dey see say the thing dey real but the younger people dey very much open to bitcoin and na them dey push the numbers.

I don’t think a lot o f Nigerians still doubt bitcoin compared to when it was newly invented.Nigerians not participating in the bitcoin space doesn’t mean they’re doubting it’s worth,I know a few Nigerians that knows the value of bitcoin but they refused to invest or use it for other purposes. So I would like to see an actual statistical analysis of Nigerians that are still in doubt in regards to bitcoin.Whoever still doubt bitcoin in this 2026 might not discover the truth because bitcoin has gained more traction to be doubted.

The doubt that many people have about Bitcoin in 2026 is as a result of earlier misconception that it is a ponzi scheme that if you invest your money into, you’ll most probably lose everything and be at loss. Since the government also are not saying convincing things about the whole crypto thing, people find it not too comfortable to put their money into it and prefer to continue using their fiat they’ve used to. In 2026, Bitcoin has shown a lot of convincing things that could make one feel compelled to accept bitcoin, but for those that are still doubting, they may remain in that state forever and Bitcoin keeps growing in front of their eyes.

The doubts of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general now in Nigeria has reduced so much. A lot of Nigerians have accept cryptocurrencies and many know the high value of bitcoin but some are just not buoyant enough to invest in it but they know the value of it and it high benefits.
Bitcoin has grown large and gain much popularity not only in Nigeria alone but worldwide and many people has no doubts about bitcoin. But they are some people who still doubt bitcoin or maybe haven’t even heard of cryptocurrency before, many of us that know the advantages of bitcoin let take the chances and make good decisions with it.

I would have appreciated it if the OP had provided a link, or perhaps, that was his thought... Which I personally can't agree with because of the current position of everyone at the moment. If we were talking about 2020(which was a very massive year for crypto in Nigeria), I would have undoubtedly believed it, but common, this is 2026, I can't even remember the last time I came across someone that says he/she doesn't believe or has a doubt for Bitcoin.

There are literally 3 possible scenarios I can think of in this case.... It is either you know about it but don't have the money to Invest, or you know and also have the resources to buy some for yourself, or you don't know about it at all. Those who doubt shouldn't even be our problem, or should they?. The country is already in a tough spot for everyone, and that alone is enough to believe every single thing that looks more promising than the naira.

A lot of Nigerians only want to make their money through a fast means which has put many of them in the situations that they are in today. They see bitcoin as a waste of time and a regular ponzi scheme that is similar to the ones they have done in the past but that's a wrong mentality they have. Another reason why a lot of Nigerians doubt bitcoin is because they see that the market always goes through a dip but that's a normal thing in the crypto market but you can't expect them to understand if they don't have knowledge about it
