I mean there has been growth, yes, but alot of Nigerians still have doubts about Bitcoin even though it has grown over the years and gained more attention globally, well a lot of this doubt comes from how unstable the price can be and of course also from past stories of people losing money. In a way we can say some people don’t fully understand how Bitcoin works, so they just see it as something risky or even like a gamble, instead of a real asset that they can grow, you know.

Here is the thing, even with all this growth and awareness, the doubt is still there, especially among new or I would say average investors. So I want to ask, in 2026, why is the doubt Bitcoin in Nigeria still at large?

I mean I could be wrong, so if you believe the doubt isn't there, please fell free to share.
That true Op the doubt is really still there became allot of my people only focus on Price instead on them to focus on the Value which it brings. Even as the year 2026 that Bitcoin has raise out at ₦93.6 Million, you guys should correct me if am not at the right amount. Allot of Nigerians still see this as a ponzi scheme in the sense that they don’t really understand how this works. And most importantly it the lack of education that cause this, most especially when price drops those who does not understand how HODL works they will be scared and they will end up selling at loss. Then now with this experience they will go about telling people that Bitcoin it all scam Which it not, but because of lack of understanding they loss it from there.

The only solution for us now is if we can wake up with the habit of getting rich quick to a longer rearm savings if not this, the Doubt will keep on continuing.

Na why you see say, plenty people just Dey prefer Ponzi schemes as na something way them easily understand to be about, bring one or two people, put certain amount of money and you go collect certain amounts after a period of time. The case Dey different with Bitcoin shah and many people no understand am so, them just keep off.

Personally, I feel ponzi schemes in Nigeria don't just survive because people are desperate. They survive because they are social. You join through someone you trust, a friend, a family member, a church member. The relationship gives it credibility before your brain even questions the logic.
Bitcoin has no human face to trust. No friend is holding your hand through it. Just a screen, a wallet address, and market charts that look like confusion to a beginner.
Until Bitcoin gets that same community and human trust structure around it, Ponzi schemes will always have the emotional advantage over it regardless of which one is legitimate.

There is one major reasons why most Nigerians still doubt Bitcoin. There thinking is what if the market collapsed and I lost all my money, what if if I want to invest or buy and it totally got damaged. They have always tagged it as one of a ponzi scheme where maybe years coming it will crash and everything money will be lost. We Nigerians has doubting spirits and in some times too it do works but not in Bitcoin. Bitcoin has come to stay and it will never crash.

Nigerians don't believe things easily although not all Nigerians, there many Nigerians in this sphere, there many Bitcoiners from Nigeria as we speak but you know individuals have there doubt, there persons that have faced one scam stuff or the other in the Internet space, many nigerians has and because of that, there's nothing that you'll tell them to convinced them to invest in any online thing, even as Bitcoin has been found trustworthy, they will still have doubt for many things that we may not know if they don't open up to us, in Nigeria today we still have people that do not know that altcoins and shitcoins are different from Bitcoin, they generalize and continue to confuse themselves may be because they might have been introduced to shitcoins that dumped which is the reason why the don't see anything good in digital asset, I thon there are many reasons and we can go on and on and still not remember all.

Please can you share a link or reference on where you saw that Nigerians still doubt? I'm not saying there aren't a few people who haven't adopted bitcoin, but saying that a lot of people haven't adopted it may not be true.the rate of crisis and poverty in the country, I think should be a major factor why people might not be bothering about cryptocurrency. Only those who probably have alot of money at hand would want to worry over investment. People right now are more concerned about survival and feeding of their family members. so investing in bitcoin may not cross their mind even once.
lol you are funny and would you ask for a link to his assumptions ?
i think op was only assuming because there is no actual record for percentage or statistics for this assumptions.

i also agree with you that, the level of hunger in the country has turn majority of the citizens to the survival mode and truly people might not have the time or resources to invest and trust me, there are a lot of people who are already aware of bitcoin but don't hold a single investment in it and it's not because the don't want to invest but maybe because they don't have the required resources(money) to invest as everyone is simply trying to survive.

currently now let's not make it about bitcoin because in general the world is already in a very tight corner and people can't even save talk more of investing as majority of the people are barely surviving

The truth is that not everyone will invest in Bitcoin no matter how bullish it is. Some people will always have that doubt in them despite seeing how far Bitcoin has gone. Some may not invest because Bitcoin is a digital currency and uneducated people can not invest, why some are just not comfortable or confident to invest because it's a digital currency, they feel that it may even go down to zero and no one will refund you. So there must be different thought about Bitcoin by different individual, making it hard to invest. But however all this factors that stops people from investing does not mean that people are not investing. A high number of Nigerians are adopting Bitcoin and not doubting.

Maybe those you have discussed with have secretly increased their accumulation. The biggest thing is that there is no evidence or you have not given any exact link that Nigerians are actually skeptical about Bitcoin. Only those who do not understand blockchain technology or have heard of it for the first time.

Ignorance affects people in different ways, when one does not know, he makes decisions based on assumptions or others' words. In some cases, it forces people to make wrong decisions and leads people astray and gradually causes harm. But when they understand later, it is too late. The same will happen to investing in Bitcoin if they remain ignorant. However, one thing is hopeful is the volatility of its price, when its price reached its ATH, many regretted saying that if they had known earlier, they would have invested more.

Anyway, there is no need to overthink these things. Bitcoin’s adoption and price do not depend on such individuals. Rather, Bitcoin’s strength and security are continuously improving and becoming more robust through its usage, which has now been proven.

Negligence can sometimes lead to regrets, especially if an individual failed to do the right thing at the right time. The biggest mistake that most people made is failure to utilise their times and resources. An individual is never late to be informed about Bitcoin, whenever it was being introduced to you, that is the exact perfect time for you to start acquiring the necessary information and knowledge about bitcoin. The lesson is a little bit wide but its requires patience to get to the bottom of it. Some Nigerians who has understand bitcoin a lots understand it's advantages and the disadvantages and also know the value of it and also its benefits.

Bitcoin investment is not something to announce publicly, to some that like privacy chose to silently accumulate ,   it’s more of  private to some ,  so you don’t expect everyone involved to list out there names , so I don’t think Nigerian are doubting it , those who knows the value has started there accumulation journey, saying the doubt in Nigeria is large , shows that you have a statistic to prove at least to support this belief, awareness is the major thing , and many are aware now and many are into Bitcoin investment now , i have seen youths of Nigeria talking about it and it’s spreading, so why saying many are still doubting it , that is not true .

I think I will agree with you,you made a very good point so many people don't like exposing their wealth publicly and it is not even advisable for one to do that due to the situation of things in our country, because we have heard so many stories about the exposed assets how it attracts criminals and for that reason people have chosen to privatized their investment or assets without others noticing that...so I'm equally supporting those who said that no one is doubting bitcoin anymore, rather people are secretly accumulating..

The fact some people are not well-informed like you and I the doubt will always remain . It is just like asking "why are some persons educated and some are not educated", there is surely going to be a factor that will hinder some people with which result to them being uneducated; things like fear, lack of interest, procrastination and carefree attitude can pull a person away from doing something.
There are people who already heard about Bitcoin before now but they still doubt because of the negative mindset they have built concerning Bitcoin, and with the nature of Bitcoin someone who is not educated or knowledgeable about technology will see Bitcoin as one of a scamming techniques, believe the fact that is not everyone has adopted to the new system and advancement till date, some people have settled and are okay with the old method of traditional transactions. Bitcoin is digital in form and operation making it more difficult to them, as most people through this concept will regard it as scam.

People have had terrible situations where Bitcoin is and for that they choose not to go invest anymore because either someone out there had uses through Bitcoin to scam them one way or the other, that is why you could found people venturing more into Bitcoin investment. Of course, as far as I know, Bitcoin has been wildly be used by young teenage over here in our country and while those advanced people do not found it so attractive because they lack of trust and possibly do not read wide about Bitcoin which could make them lose interest.

I completely agree with you. You said it practically. And there may be some people in Nigeria who are still has doubt about bitcoin. And this is true all over the world. Because there are still many people who do not have a proper understanding of bitcoin. There are many who are busy with other things and do not have time to think about bitcoin. And bitcoin is a matter of personal freedom. If someone holds it secretly and does not want to disclose it to anyone, it may be for their safety. Because I myself do not tell anyone that I hold bitcoin or use it as an investment. I feel it is somewhat safe to share it with my close relatives or friends. This does not mean that I have doubts about bitcoin. And the growth of bitcoin acceptance in our country is much higher than before. And its popularity is increasing day by day and will continue to increase.

E no hard, Nigerians like quick return something, especially for this our economy like this way things hard and people no Dey fine way to get better job or engagement way go give them money. It is better you dont generalise something, rather be more specific. The majority of Nigerians like a quick return, amidst people like this, there are still wise and cultured people who understand what investing is.

The high rate of poverty has been the reason why many are attracted to get rich quick schemes, and in the future it will remain so if the economy doesnt get better.  The solution is to leave the country.

Many people no really understand how Bitcoin they operate that's why them dey always doubt when the downside of volatility dey take place, if them understand say Bitcoin get the ability to increase aa time dey go and the drop no be problem so far say then fit hold am for longer I no think say them go get any doubt concerning Bitcoin.

That's to tell you say asides patience wey be many Nigerians problem, lack of understanding na one big issue to why many people still set doubt say Bitcoin na better coin to buy. Well time go always teach people lesson and most of them wey still dey doubt go later regret for future when the price done double pass like these.
You dey correct for wetin you the talk because the only thing wey go make anybody have doibt inside am for Bitcoin na say such person no no how e be for Bitcoin side, no be only that one too, the zeal to learn can also make people begin doubt something, you know say some people no just want learn, they like argument but without having facts to back up their argument, I remember when one guy been the tell me say Bitcoin na scam he even went ahead to say Bitcoin na ponzi scheme I laugh eh, I just tell am say you are not informed and it is as a result if you not making research pr asking questions, just imagine in this modern era somebody is still calling Bitcoin ponzi scheme that is ro tell us that some persons are still backward in terms of technology.

Yeah, a lot of Nigerians do not even doubt Bitcoin itself…   it was the experience they have had with things like MMM and all those schemes that messed them up mentally..   Once someone loses money like that, anything online just starts looking the same to them..

But at the same time, it is also lack of proper understanding..  People group everything together, scams, ponzi, legit assets, all in one box. So instead of learning the difference, they just avoid everything completely..

I mean I could be wrong, so if you believe the doubt isn't there, please fell free to share.
I will believe you that new users and unstable investors that did not understand Bitcoin and are willing to make quick money still doubt Bitcoin because they are still new and want quick return.

Some Nigerians knows what Bitcoin is and how it works, the youths and citizens that believe in Bitcoin are not doubting Bitcoin, they are investing in Bitcoin because they know that they will benefit from the investment letter because they have seen how the market moves, and how early investors make money from the Bitcoin investment; they have more confidence in their investment than new users who just want to get involve because they will benefit afraid of the market price, and will not be confident of their investment.

People will always fear about their decision in entering into investing in Bitcoin, even though they have and seen all the evidence that they need to know in it, but they will still stand on their decision not to invest in it, which they are not ready to embrace the risks involved, since they can't be able to control and predict the market. Which means that they have already made up their mindset not to invest in Bitcoin and that's important and good for them, because its better not involve themselves rather than involving and having a lot of losses.
