I'm starting this thread inspired by discussions I saw here about socializing in casinos.

I just wanted to give more attention to the matter of having the opportunity to have a chat with your dealer in a casino, both online and offline.

As you can guess, dealers have strict rules they can follow so they can't talk just about anything in most casinos. But having Smalltalk is actually even encouraged for them. This is actually something nice you can do so don't be shy. It helps break the very repetitive routine of a dealer so if you're a talker throw in some words. Say hi, ask them how they're doing, what they like etc. They're encouraged to have something to say if asked and if they seem to like it be sure you're making your dealers day better.

Topics that are verboten are religion, sex, addiction, politics and discriminatory/disparaging comments. But you can have some classy discussions even with these rules. Or if you want to skip Smalltalk you can also stay on topic and compliment them on their dealing style. Always nice for someone to notice this.

Most live casino still doesn’t implement tip feature for dealer which I like to add  since there’s a lot of dealer worthy to receive a tip for giving a wonderful session.

Yeah, dealer conversation is a very good way to socialize in the casino especially online which you play virtually.

This is a solid reminder post. These folks aren't robots (usually) and are human beings that don't just stand there and do their job they are allowed to converse and have a good time to make your experience more memorable and satisfying. Its something that should honestly be done out of courtesy but a lot of folks don't like to do this sort of thing especially when money is on the line. But the truth is that it can honestly make you feel a little better and perhaps even less nervous if you are.

If you go to evolution tables online and play blackjack it'll be hard to say hi to the dealer as half the time they are barely awake lol. Live tables in real life are much more interactive though.

Just to add to the discussion, saying at least some courteous words to the dealer or even to your peers lightens up the mood for everyone.

We all know on how stressful and anxious gambling can be given that it involves the wager of money. But if you say some greetings to the dealer or to someone in the casino, it can actually be a big difference in lightening up the mood of the room. This simple yet powerful act can be a game-changer not only to you but also to others.

Thank you for sharing this tip, OP! I superbly consider this advice as one of those neglected acts that everyone should attempt to do. It definitely has the potential of helping or snapping someone out of their misery due to the stress brought by gambling.

Having conversation with the dealer can change the situation and that can makes you feels relax. The dealer can starts knowing you and who knows they will choose you as their fav player

Just talks about the easy and small things which can makes them smile. But that depends on the situation as you will not always meet "the easy dealer" that wants to talking to strangers.

I totally agree here; tips will always make the dealer not only talkative but also compliant on all topics that you like. Small compliments from women always encourage the dealer to be careful not to harm the game, as was recently described somewhere in this section. At the same time, friendly conversation, again with tips, is possible for men even with jokes that are understandable among the male sex. Just like that, without bonuses, sometimes not everyone is ready to chat, because dealers are also people, and sometimes you can get very tired of chatting.

A person with a smile on a face (even if it is fake) is much better than see neutral expression. Imho, if game starts with a smile, you will feel more relaxed, entertained, encouraged during game. Be kind to people and they will be kind to you.

This is hilarious! It’s true and I experienced it many times that dealers are sleeping even on the middle of dealing cards. I share this before on some casino thread that I’m playing.

The painful part about this sleepy dealer is when you place bet and they sleep mid way of dealing cards which you don’t have any way to wake her up or leave the table since there’s a bet at play. I think I waited more than 15 mins for that dealer to wake up.

I can’t be angry that time because I knew there’s an issue against evolution gaming dealer being under pay despite having a graveyard shift.

Yeah, it’s like having a companion even though I’m playing alone. I like the moment when they are cheering for their hand to bust and celebrate when I won.

I agree because sometimes a little greeting won't cost you nothing or anything but can change the atmosphere or the mood of the person, even with showing of basic respect you wii notice that at the end such person you show how polite and respectful you are willing naturally treat you well too. Sometimes with a simple hi and a touch of little smile can light up a place and it will feel less tensed and comfortable for everyone. Kindness always goes round

Sometimes these dealers want to act as professionals so they don’t want any interaction. They simply want to focus on their jobs and nothing else. However, some of them are easy-going and could even initiate conversation. In those days when I frequently visited physical casinos, some of the dealers there were my friends.  Sometimes they encourage me when I have a bad time.

When I was a student, I met a very pretty girl, and she told me on a date that she worked as a dealer in a casino, and then she spent the entire evening talking about her work, which was a bit exhausting, but I learned a lot of interesting facts. For example, she told me that the girls in her casino often went on dates with guys who won a lot of money, and I thought that was a pretty dirty fact. She swore that she had never done that. I believe that if someone has won a lot of money in a casino and has a good-looking appearance, they might even try to ask the dealer's girlfriend out, as the girl was around 20 years old. And of course, any man would want to spend time with such a beautiful woman. Sometimes, they even cross the line themselves.

Where I live is a masculine mentality the one that prevails and people, usually man of every age start hitting on the dealer as long as she is a girl or woman. I don't like that as it makes them feel not comfortable, the dealers as I have seen such situation happening a lot of times yet no one does something to change this and I feel sorry for them. I have tried not interfere but I never play when these other people seem more interested to take the dealer out rather than playing, though now that I think in Blackjack I can try and take their money easily while they keep hitting on the dealer and are completely distracted from the play there. I think I should go soon in a table where the dealer is a woman and try to take the money of these people so they learn a lesson and do not bother people, no matter the context.

Yes it's really nice to talk with them sometimes, there are times that users are teasing the dealer (in a good way) and it actually adds the fun in playing since repetitive talking of the dealer sometimes do sound annoying and having a little chat with you or with others is sometimes a good thing. I usually do send chat on live games and it's really nice to get noticed to, though there are really some people who are really stepping on the line, saying awful things especially if there's a long lose streak, I understand that they are frustrated but it's not the dealers fault that it happen, I'm just wondering if they can mute or ban users if they behave like that?

It's really not a must though but at the same ime it's not bad, many people don't even know that it's possible while some are just shy to have such small talks.

Sometimes the dealers are also guilty, acting tough or should I say too professionally? Maybe but it won't hurt to try, I don't do it often unless I really feel like, I focus so much on my slots games before my free time runs out.

Mh... Actually, that is something I have never considered myself. I always thought lock casino rules forbidden my dealer to have any meaningful conversation with me, so I avoided doing and focused on the game.
Still, considering where I live and cultural differences perhaps having a conversation with the dealer may be grown upon.

Also, it is obvious one cannot talk about politics with the dealers while they work for the casino, because while the are on their shift they are basically representing the company and any politically incorrect statement could be used against the house.

Honestly, I’m not really aware if that’s possible. I mean, we can chat, but it never really came to my mind to chat with the dealer. I even thought that doing that might get me banned from playing. Most of the dealers I’ve seen are actually attractive, so I get why some would want to chat, but personally it never crossed my mind before. This thread actually gave me that idea, I might try it next time.

Complimenting the dealer is certainly a good thing but it should be natural and genuine. Sometimes some players exaggerate their praise just to get a little better treatment or favor and dealers can easily understand this. Then it can become uncomfortable so when you give a compliment it is better to keep it short and simple like saying something about their dealing style or professionalism. And timing is also important becuase it feels more natural to say it in a free moment not in the middle of the game. This makes it sound more credible and the person on the other side takes it well.

Honestly, I never did that even though I was aware that it could be done in live casino. When I go to live casino, my gambling goal will change from having fun to making profit, I feel that when I socialize it will distract me from my focus. We all have our own preferences on this matter, but as for me, I wouldn't do that for the reason that I was unlucky the last time I did it.

Imagine being a dealer, and you have nothing else to do but just distribute the cards. I have known some people that does this kind of work, and all they can say is they are tired after work, even if they are just sitting down the whole day doing an online dealer job. Poker mostly.
I agree that if we can somehow talk, let's say "Hi" to them just to have a different day. It's a repetitive type of work, and I understand why they feel tired after it. It's not because it's hard but because it becomes boring.
