Social app monetization is becoming a problem in developing countries

A lot has happened over the years, at the very beginning social media monetization became a means for citizens in developing countries to earn from home. People are ready to do anything on social media to get paid. The other day, a lady on live stream, asked a woman with disability if she could jump into the river for 40 bucks not knowing the lady has disabilities. Without the hesitation the lady jumped and almost drowned, immediately the influencer ran and ended the livestream.

I know you must have heard or seen crazy things people are doing to get paid on social media. My question is, have we lost our sense of humanity because of social media monetization? Sympathy, empathy, fear, self-preservation are attribute of humanity, and if we don't care about them anymore what will become of the world in the nearest future?

There will always be idiots who harm others for their own gain. This has always been the case and hopefully we will change this in the future.

Influencers are simply the newest "fad". Like American parents letting their child go through with gender reassignment surgery after having talked them into it. And they do not even understand anything that is going on and the consequences it will have in their future. The parents only care about the newest fad and being a step ahead of all the other fanatics.

The amount of quality content is decreasing, leading to a lot of empty content. People are making money from social media, but in doing so, they're harming society by ignoring its values. This wasn't always the case, but it has turned the internet into a huge video dump.

You're absolutely right; making money is important, but people are doing things they shouldn't, and that's harming society.

Because quality content will not be watched by many, while content that is not quality will be watched a lot and even become controversial, this is what content creators want so that they can attract the attention of the whole world, their name can be recognized, so they can make more money, right?

Don't be strange about unclear or quality content because they want to go viral, whatever they will do even though the content is not worth publishing, the content creators don't look there anymore, they see which content the audience likes, they will do it even though crazy things are done.

Just visit some social media pages that's from my country, the Philippines. And you'd see a lot of content creators that are being dared to do such things. Like eating poop and getting paid or promised to get paid for $200-$400. Because of poverty and the challenges that many of my countrymen are facing, they'd do everything just to earn and the hope that they'll get some money through daring things despite that there's no assurance that they'll get paid to it. Some content creators done these daring challenges but haven't received anything at all, I forgot the actual guy but it's related to something to eat.

Yeah, Lol. For the sake of money, these guys, aka content creators would do just about anything, no matter how mindless or stupid it is. Some, even because of lack of content, made their whole life, everyday life as a content. I have also seen some of these content creators leaking their private moments in order to get viral. I'm not sure whether it's intentionally or unintentionally, or a desperation act to attract views or boost their account, but it has happened. I'm not saying all the content creators are bad or attention seekers. There are many good creative creators out there, but because of these low key, shameless creators, their image is being tarnished.

I understand your point very well but I don't think that it's actually a problem of social media monitization as you wants to put it. There is a problem with this present generation of youths , Social media has done allot of harm to our society and the youths are the once mostly affected by the influence of social media.


The problem lies with the government, there should be a way that government should control the use of social media in countries especially developing countries were there is no legal framework to guide the use of social media in most of these developing countries. This is the reason why we are seeing allot of things going on in social media these days.

Yes I agree with you. There is no moderation to how people use social me in some countries and this is causing a lot of things.
The youths are mostly affected by this misconducts happening in the social media platforms over the whole, information that doesn't need to be circulated are just published to the general public and it rolls and moves from each people's that have internet enabled phone.
If the government can look into this aspects of creating measures of control the use of information shared on the so media, many things will be controlled and put in other.

Some people can extremely go to an extent to get something, they forgot about their self value and integrity, it about self discipline and personality. We can see group of people that acted Blue films in total complete nude and at the end, they will be paid. Now is this poverty or madness?, or we should called that high profit business?.

The world is moving into something else, people are control by different forces, we should not forget that we should have self control in certain situations and conditions we find ourselves in.

It is very unfortunate how people do cruel things on social media just to earn money. It has become a norms and in reality, the developing countries are the ones taken advantage of this more to earn a living but forget that your self dignity comes first more than any other thing you can think off. People are mostly attracted to unimaginable things, so these content creators have a way that they make their followers wants to engage on their post, some go as far as telling lies, bring about fake news or happenings just to get people’s attention to react and engage. The place is now a place where the verility of every news there is not certain yet until you go find out more yourself through research.

No surprises, people do crazy things for money, even before the social media came in, life consists of numerous sets of people with unique believes and thoughts. It's nothing new to see people do unimaginable things for impressions in recent times. Provided these big platforms has decided to share generated revenues with big accounts, nobody would ever consume atmost reasonable contents on there. Currently, people are moving on to reddits, where it's a bit safe and more imaginable conversations are being deliberated on.

It's selfishness for someone, to because of online payment or social media payment to risk he or her life, whereas life doesn't have a duplicate, tell me the kind of temptation that will her to pump, is it that she wants to trend on social media, because their's nothing on earth worth human life, even though some people are making it through social media, that shouldn't warrant anyone do take he or her life by herself...one thing is that influencers should know first the kind of people that they will prank or tempt to do extraordinary things...
