I was merely replying to his post and I don't know why it was deleted. Shouldn't his reply to me be deleted as well? It would be unfair if that part of his post should be left alone, no?

Is that not Satofan44? It is better you just avoid him. But when it comes to technical posts, he is very good but he prefer not to be friendly with anyone and also prefer to red tag people like he is on drug, alcohol and substance all together at once. All I can tell you is to forget about the deleted post because I guess he reported it and he will know what he is saying because he is good in technical discussions.

The best guess was that it was reported to the moderator as off-topic or derailing the thread. On the other hand, the post you were replying to also contains replies to quotes from other users, and these replies seem to align with the topic under discussion, so there is no way the mods will delete it based on just that one reply to you.

For your own peace, ignore the user for who he is, which is what almost every active forum members knows him for his lack of quality communication without it having to end in insults or BS . Many of my posts that contained fewer insulting and more contributions to the topic within themselves were recently deleted in another thread. Perhaps this is a case of the moderation team finally applying a more consistent approach towards off-topic posting and goading, even if the posters are more senior members. Keep in mind that you should only include insults if they are a small part of your reply together with substantial contributions (even this should be avoided though) -- if they constitute the main part or are intentionally just repetitive goading, then they should be removed as far as I have been told since I tend to insult idiots a lot.

I have many more reports that have been unhandled for a long time, however this part of the forum has 2 moderators that could delete the post instead of actually ignoring the reports like most global moderators do in biased cases.

This thread is not about me, stick to the topic. It is about whether the post is off-topic and whether it falls under the trolling category -- I wondered this myself, and I have reported it actually too and it seems that in this case someone agreed. A small win for the already mostly inconsistent and biased moderation team.

I am not a developer, but for sure I know more than 99.99% of the users here on these matters. Thanks, off topic though. If you don't want this to be the case, rather than complaining and shitposting nonsense the users should open something that is known as a book.

But on the Internet (and not only), only those who cannot understand that resentment is a completely personal choice can take offense at strangers. OP prefers to be offended instead of realizing that everyone is different on the Internet and no one is obligated to be polite to him, but not reacting to criticism is a choice.

If you go to the source of how the topic got derailed, he started it when I was merely asking a question about the Quantum Threat and why the Quantum Researchers shortened their timeline for the arrival of a working Quantum Computer.

I discovered that sometimes, users go off-topic to troll, after trolling, they quote one on-topic reply and include it in their response to serve as a guard to the off topic troll thereby making moderators not to delete it.

The REAL litmus test is franky1.

Franky1 is in a class of its own. He disagrees objectively and doesn't resort to racial slander or personal attacks.

That is exactly what the rules say that you should do if you want the trolling/off-topic/insults to remain and not get deleted. A: Possible (since we don't have the time or resources to check) insults are also allowed as long as they contain any kind of constructive opinion, info or something else substantial and aren't off-topic. For example, posting something like "you are dumb" will be deleted as it contains no meaningful content. However, if the post is somewhere along the lines of "You are dumb. This is wrong because this website/thread/etc. has explained it's not right", it's in most cases accepted.

There you go. I actually managed to even over-do it and get some posts deleted even though they had plenty of constructive opinion.

I guess he is referring to franky1 as a litmus test because he is not in any signature campaign. However, you are right that franky engage in discussion without insults. Thanks for this exposition. I had wondered why moderators don't delete obvious insults until I discovered how they maneuver to get the posts not deleted and now you validated my suspicion. I never knew that such  big loophole exists in the unofficial rules.

Well, this is your personal view about him and I believe many will also disagree with you. I have respect for franky1, not because of his view of bitcoin which seems somewhat controversial, but because most times he stands alone and he stands firm. When I was new in this space, I understood he was banned from posting in the technical section and he was always disagreeing with LoyceV. I think the disagreement was about LN. It seems that franky doesn't endorse it because it happens off the chain. But meanwhile, he doesn't make people feel less of themselve at the slightest provocation.

Franky1 sometimes spreads disinformation because he believes that he could use that to control the debate. But Satofan69 resorted to racial slander because he was offended that I said he is a mere pleb in a signature campaign just like us. Which is a FACT.

Franky1 is the biggest pathological liar I have ever encountered. He would defend the worst people imaginable for reasons he completely made up out of thin air.
