I don't know why this case would be made into a big deal, especially considering the fact that this site has been promoting forked BTC for years as the only true Bitcoin, thereby leading many people to invest in shitcoin. Rather than claiming that we are under some sort of attack, it is very likely that reports from genuine bitcoiners led to their channel being deleted.

As for the payment of any fees in Bitcoin, Iran is not so stupid as to require them in that cryptocurrency (or are they?), given that there are much better alternatives in the form of privacy coins.

This time, it's after Iran started demanding ships to pay toll fees through their strait using Bitcoin.

It seems that Google is trying to play god again, and they have started suspending Bitcoin channels.

I get that it's Bitcoin.com, so a lot of you will have a good reason not to pity them, but they're going to start doing this to other channels too.

And maybe make Operation Chokepoint 3.0 to break Bitcoin, as if doing that is going to hurt Iran or something.

Doesn't matter which president is sitting, it's the same outcome.

Not holding? Buy some more.

Holding? Do some bitcoin outreach, create software, and record videos.

Maybe there's something wrong happened on Youtube that's why this situation happened.

But I can still search the Bitcoin.com Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@BitcoincomOfficial/videos but help me verify if this is fake channel, different or legitimately owned by them.

I also read that crypto media's is misreporting about this news and the channel just commit violation, then maybe they experience strikes and also some of their videos got deleted.

No, come on... it's youtube, it's not a real attack Tongue don't see a tragedy.
I would not surprised if this was just the classic temporary ban that could be applied "randomly" or due many "reports of violation".
For sure this is not the way to keep out bitcoin. Anyway it's evident that scam are a real issue, and even if we had "intelligent" system these are not be able to understand the difference between real operators and pure scams.

Remember, they are still "technically" at war with Iran still despite the ceasefire.

And Trump has done 180ºs on his opinions before.
I said this same thing on a thread about Iran accepting Bitcoin as toll fee yesterday
Until it occurred to me that a technology that was created for self custody and no government control
We subconsciously still think about how would the government react.
Does that mean we can make certain compromise as long as Bitcoin survives in name?
How they respond to this would determine their attitude towards Bitcoin whether like Gold or barrierless
But I'm sure it would be the former.

They couldn't really pin point what actually was the violation and that shows a lot that they have nothing other than just doing the bid of their central authority who thinks bitcoin is their problem. This is just a distraction. Perhaps this is what Iran saw and decided not to entertain the use of any centralized currency other than bitcoin and now they're now seeing bitcoin as a bigger threat for the future. Bringing down the Bitcoin.com page on YouTube wouldn't change anything or affect bitcoin, self custody with bitcoin is here to stay.

It's obvious that Google has an interest in this crisis you don't need a prophet to tell you why Google is doing this.Iran trying to demand Bitcoin as payment for ships passing through the strait of Hormuz is a direct threat to the dominance of the Dollar in the Oil sector. What has Bitcoin violated which has led to this band this is really really not a nice one coming from Google.

What can we even say about a company that is almost entirely run by robots? Their platform is getting more ridiculous with all these unnecessary restrictions and things that are honestly pretty sickening.

Even if Bitcoin.com wanted an explanation, all they would get is a reply from an AI instead of a human.

So, there is no point in expecting much from this Shitube.

This is another sign that shows how valuable Bitcoin is and will be in the near future. A good message to the general community at large to hold onto their bitcoin because this proposal by the Uran government would stir up lots of activities and actions and counter actions against bitcoin, and all these put together would give bitcoin the much anticipated boosts it has long been waiting for. I am not surprised to see these actions from YouTube, they are just playing to the music and dance step of their dictator as the case may be.

I don’t think it’s about stopping Bitcoin, more about control over platforms. But yeah, it shows why people push for more decentralized tools and media.  Grin Grin

Control! Control!! Control!! If there was a decentralized platform that's big as alternative to YouTube, you think people will want to use YouTube that wouldn't let you watch videos of 3 minutes until they give you 40 second ads to watch before they allow you have access to the video you want to watch. This can't be coincidence, they are very good at deleting channels without any prior warning and even after disabling, you get no reason why it was removed, they just say you have violated their useless policy.

I remembered back in 2020, some Big YouTube channels I was following were brought down by YouTube for nothing, no warning and no reason. Until they called them out on Twitter, they tagged the official channel after they saw it was a coordinated attack on Bitcoin related channels and these channels average 100k and above subscribers. They restored the channels after the called out, now imagine if they never spoke out about it.

Just another example of how stupid YouTube can be. I don't think it will stop tbh, it can get pretty annoying when the business side of things doesn't even know how their algorithm functions, let alone fix if they made stupid mistakes. I've read many cases where a YouTuber is flagged for various things, some of which also don't make sense. Not sure if this is motivated by any changes in geopolitics, unless they just feed their AI with something like "anything related to X is dangerous".
Not only YouTube but also companies like Facebook do various things through algorithms due to which users find themselves in difficult situations at different times. Why would YouTube delete an almost 11-year-old channel without any explanation? This is stupid. It could be that it is doing this for geopolitical reasons. Where Iran is fighting alone against America and Israel and Iran is charging fees through Bitcoin for the Strait of Hormuz. Maybe that is why America and Israel are trying to disable potential Bitcoin related channel media. Although I am only saying that I suspect things and I do not have any valid evidence that something like this is happening. However, it is very sad that this channel has been deleted like this without any warning and without any explanation.

Has this happened in the past in another crypto education channel? Have you appealed?

I'm not Bitcoin.com, so no.

Firstly, I am happy the channel banned was Bitcoin.com which belongs to Roger Ver, who is among the people that once say negative things about Bitcoin but i am suprised the whole blame was put upon the platform that have to do with Bitcoin when the Iranian also demand the payment of the transit toll on oil ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to either to be in cryptocurrency, stablecoins, or Chinese yuan. It surprises me that Bitcoin is to blame for the situation.

Well, I did note in the OP that some people won't pity them, but it's an education channel that wasn't violating the YouTube rules.

Relax dude Smiley it's just YouTube doing its thing. The thread isn't majorly about Uran Iran. It's just an assumption if the whole thing is taking the influence from Iran-US war.

[off] What they are doing isn't some kinda proposal. It's just how a normal nation trying to stay off the radar of another nation would think. Bitcoin might just be their best option. Still, no source could really affirm if it's BTC, but we have a lot claiming BTC is part.

Bitcoin will be much more valuable in the future than the present value  without any influence from the current war.

Are they trying to shill for a shitty altcoin and pass it off as real Bitcoin again?  If yes, then Google did the right thing.  Grin

Calling this an attack and Chokepoint 3.0 because a meaningless channel that nobody watches got banned is a massive overstatement. YouTube’s automated moderation system is just very bad and many channels get suspended for no apparent reason. If you can get enough attention on Twitter, they usually have a human review the suspension and reinstate them if they did nothing wrong. Bitcoin.com’s channel is already unbanned, so the there was nothing to really worry about.

Yes, it's an educational YouTube channel that didn't break any of the platform's rules, but I didn't like what the platform CEO (Roger Ver) once said about Bitcoin years ago, and how he managed to cause a misconception among BTC miners years ago, and how they spread FUD about BTC at some point whenever they like even though he benefits from the Bitcoin system. It's like Ver is biting the finger that feeds him.

This time, it's after Iran started demanding ships to pay toll fees through their strait using Bitcoin.

It seems that Google is trying to play god again, and they have started suspending Bitcoin channels.

It's highly likely that this silliness will also spread to other channels that objectively publish educational content about Bitcoin, such as Bitcoin.com.
It would be sad if the motive behind this is that the parties involved are simply trying to harm the country to please the king, whose speech is careless.

However, YouTube's actions against channels that publish useful content, especially about Bitcoin, are irrelevant to those who already understand Bitcoin.

I'm not sure YouTube intentionally harm legit Bitcoin video or continue being incompetent. It's known you almost never get response or help from actual human being. And just few days ago, they also take down Nvidia's own video about their technology with copyright reason[1].

It is like another escalation from Youtube, and I don't know any of you experience issues with Youtube when using VPN recent weeks likely two latest weeks. Before I have never experienced any issues when watching Youtube videos with VPN but latest weeks, sometimes I will get their notification like I have to sign in an account (Google account) to confirm that I am not a bot in order to watch Youtube videos.

I am still unsure but it can be a universal change from Youtube policy or it depends on nationality when I use VPN.

Yes, many Google services don't work without a user signing in. Google is striving to create its own, completely centralized ecosystem. 🙋

It must be acknowledged that, in reality, the modern internet is a small number of enormous centralized platforms. These platforms collaborate with governments and openly disdain their users. Laws don't apply in these virtual spaces; instead, they operate under user agreements (written by Google's lawyers, as well as those of other large tech corporations) that grant no rights to users. However, I like YouTube as a user platform. It's much more convenient and useful than national video hosting sites in my country.

I'm against any censorship in the digital space. I may not be entirely sympathetic to the ayatollah regime, but I recognize their right to conduct Bitcoin transactions. If the US is at war with Iran, then let them fight Iran. What does Bitcoin have to do with it?

It is not entirely true that laws do not apply online. Platforms like YouTube still operate under government regulations, even though their terms of service can feel one-sided and restrictive and on censorship, it is a complicated balance. What some see as suppression of free speech, others see as necessary moderation to comply with laws, protect users, and keep platforms functional. As for Bitcoin, it was created to be independent of governments, but in reality, it still faces pressure from regulations and global politics, making true neutrality difficult to maintain.
